Not having a set-in-stone solid definition of what the club accepts as a classic is sort of an unofficial standing rule. Basically, it prevents people from rules-lawyering shows onto or off of the list and encourages a more serious level of discussion.

I do have two rules of thumb that I go by, though they aren't even absolute for me:

-Older than five years (five years after it ends)
-Still has a significant following somehow (usually verified via MAL rank or google trends popularity)
-Made some sort of visible, lasting impact on anime production or anime fans

Is there a list somewhere of what this club currently accepts as classics? If not, might be a good idea, and we could have members vote on them and decide what should or should not be added, and why each member feels that way.
