Battle Royale Society

Information
This area is going to be lengthy, so I've divided the club's purposes into two sections.

SECTION A
The reason you most likely join: - To meet other fans of Battle Royale, to discuss it or to find out more about it. All forms are appreciated: novel, manga and films, so feel free to join. I probably don't have to explain this much further, but suffice it to say that it's for people who enjoy Battle Royale.

SECTION B
In short, if you were reading Battle Royale or watching one of its film versions and thought "I would be great at this," or "I HAVE to do this," - well, now you can!

This is a place for Battle Royale fans, people who are familiar with the concept or just people interested in having a shootout with other MAL users from your area.

So invite your friends, come inside and we'll help you put together a time and place for your Battle Royale - in this regard, it's also a fun way to meet up with other anime lovers.

THE RULES:
1. No physical harm may come to anyone in this club, i.e. yes, there were hunting knives and Uzis in Battle Royale, but there is nothing of the sort here - weapons allowed include any water-based weapons or "nerf" weapons.

2. You're welcome to make any alliances you like during the game and you can actually play as a team, but if one of your members goes down, all of your team do as well.

3. The more the merrier! Invite friends to the club as much as you like, but bear in mind, having a 100-person game is going to be very difficult to organise. It's likely that we'd go for the traditional 42 people.

4. It's recommended that you also take time to socialise with other players and not get too stressed during a game - meeting people is half the fun.

5. Rule number 6 can never be ignored and must always be followed with utter compliance.

6. Have fun!

I consider it a part of the series and everything but I don't really consider it as a flagstone. It's sort of like a spin off from the series. Not really necessary but worth seeing for more of a feeling of the universe and everything.

The second film was completely different: didn't feel anything like part of the series. It could have been a completely different script, but with names and title changed to become part of the series.
I stlill don't really count it as Battle Royale in my mind.

I do agree that the film wasn't very close to the book or manga at all, but I thought it was terrific in its own right. I just wish they wouldn't have taken the name since they didn't really follow the plot.

I guess it's a matter of personal preference.

I agree, the flashbacks were nice every once in a while but after I realized that the novel was 600 pages and the manga was quadruple that, I kind of got a little pissed off. They really didn't need to expand the back stories of each character nearly that much. As for the film, one of the best extortion films to come out in a loooong time, that Ichi: The Killer and The Suicide Club.

Haven't read the book, but I plan to. The manga is way better than the movie. The ending of the movie was so anti climactic. And the flashbacks were cool, explaining a lot of the characters well; however, they were sometimes a little excessive or redundant.

@Wooly;

I don't think the book is similar at all to the manga, the manga is far more drawn out first of all because it's added so many extra flashbacks and crap. Also, a lot of the death scenes are completely different and the ending is different as well. Personally, I think that the manga is the weakest of the whole lot, I liked the movies so much better even with all the obvious differences though the book is by far the best in my opinion.

I have a friend who read the manga and got the book as a present a week ago, and I think she likes the book better, despite her attachment to the manga.
