Monad: Thank you for your recommendation. I would definietely check this out.
I think the funny thing about GITS series is that Major looks is absolutely irrelevant to character creation. We saw Motoko in at least 4 incarnations (SAC-adult, child, red haired avatar, innocence robot) and it was story wise. New series is settled in 2027, so it may makes more sense to have earlier generation cyborg model as one of the protagonists. Only thing that could be like dead end to GITS is oversimplification of plot and making it chew its own tail. But it's too early to judge. IMO.

The words 'cyberpunk' and 'similar to GiTS' were enough to make me download both movies.
I'm watching the first one tonight, the trailer looks amazing. The art is different from most anime which is a big plus and it looks more than interesting.

You should definitely check it out. It's probably the most similar think to GitS i ever saw.
Even the protagonist abilities etc remind of the major in some way although she is young and troubled and doesn't possess the mature character of Motoko.
I absolutely love it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm more than grateful for a continuation. After all, this might be a younger version of Motoko so it might not be too hard to get used to her.

Mardock Scramble? Never heard of it, will take a look at it ASAP. Thanks for mentioning it.

Well i guess all of us would prefer a SAC 3rd Gig but we would have to do with what we are given. As roby666 at least she looks kind of serious and not like some moe character even if she is kind of more colorful than before.

The good thing is that script is written by the guy who made the Mardock Scrample movies. Don't know if anyone saw them but until now i have seen the first two and they are very nice cyberpunk movies that really resemble the Ghost in the Shell feeling.
I doubt that guy will change the serious character of the Major. On the other hand we might see more nude scenes of her since the main in M:S shows lots of skin but don't worry is not in a silly fan-service kind of way.

I don't really like the new character design.
But I do like the fact that she looks serious. As long as they don't ruin the feel of the anime and don't change the major's personality I'll try not to complain too much.
Still, a continuation of S.A.C. would be more appreciated.
