Saw Alkan's name. Anyone heard his funeral march on the death of a parrot? xD

A club for classical music where Legend of the Galactic Heroes is not in the anime relations? Seems odd.

I read his Wikipedia. It basically says that he didn't want to become famous. But that doesn't matter, only his Music does.

Alkan is indeed amazing. Wow. It's such a shame he's so obscure, but I suppose that was his personal choice and all that.

*Insulted*

But I will admit that the works aren't that emotional and aim more towards complexity. As for the reason why he wasn't famous, its not because of his works but rather his refusal to play them and very anti-social nature. Hell, when he died, the newspapers stated that he died in order to prove that he was even alive (don't ask for the logic behind that). Oh yeah, and the fact that few people can play him probably adds to his obscurity. He also was ahead of his time in the addition of dissonance and insane leaps.

On another note, I'm starting to get in Karlheinz Stockhausen. Here his entire Klavierstuck X from youtube. Note, he is more known for his theoretical work in Musique concrète (some of which can be downloaded here). The last video is some of this work as well.

I've talked with some of my teachers about him and they were saying that there is an incredibly ingenious structure to his works that few people could pick out. Mostly got into him through experimental music.

Felt like posting Igor Stravnisky's The Rite of Spring up.
