While the membership of The Year 24 Group is not official, the term refers to the of female mangaka who completely revolutionized shoujo manga, and whose influence can be seen in every modern shoujo work. The term comes from the fact that many of them were born in the year Showa 24 (1949; for this reason they are also occasionally referred to as the Forty-Niners). Commonly cited members of the group are as follows, as well as their best-known work(s) (if any) in the English-speaking fandom:
i have a spanish shojo blog (shoujospain.blogspot.com -also available in english-), and we are planning to do a special retro shôjo special for 2010 called Moto Hagio & The Nijūyo-nen Gumi.

At first, I wasn't reading much in the shoujo genre, but I recently read Suna no Shiro and I was hooked! I guess I'm a sucker in tragic series, but I hope to discovered more manga in this club.
