A little bit of information about Hosoda Mamoru...
Hosoda Mamoru (細田 守) is a japanese anime director now specialized in feature movies born on September 19th, 1967 in Nakaniikawa's district (part of the prefecture of Toyama).
After studies at Kanazawa College of Art, Hosoda Mamoru tried to enter Ghibli's Formation Institute but failed. In 1991, he joins Toei Animation where he first works mainly on key animations.
In the second part of the 90's, he begins to draw storyboards for TV series (mainly for Toei) but even directs episodes.
After working on "Digimon Adventure"'s TV series, he is chosen to direct Digimon Adventure's movies in 1999 and 2000.
In 2003, he directs his currently only ad for Louis Vuitton in a short animated movie called "superflat monogram". He is then chosen by renowed Studio Ghibli to direct "Howl's Moving Castle" (eventually directed by Miyazaki Hayao) but steps out because of disagreements with the team.
In 2005, after directing One Piece's 6th feature movie, he leaves Toei Animation, becomes freelance. A year later, in 2006, Hosoda Mamoru directs Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo at Studio Madhouse which truly reveals him to the public.
Director of Summer Wars (still with Studio Madhouse), released in 2009, Hosoda Mamoru creates in april 2011 his own animation structure called Studio Chizu. There, he produced (with the participation of Studio Madhouse) his latest feature movie Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki which premiere is planned on July 21st, 2012 in Japan.
