rNr suggested adding Phnatom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ to the club relations. What do you guys think? Depending to which path the discussion goes, I'll make a discussion thread about adding or discussing the whole story :D

Sorry, the discussion has kind of moved on but Ichi the Killer Episode 0 was total trash for me, especially after reading the manga. Bad animation that wasn't nearly as good as the manga, a very loose plot, it just made me angry.

The movie however was just wonderful, Miike took his hack style of film making and really made it work. The movie almost captures everything the manga had to offer in two hours, it's probably the best manga adaptation I've ever seen, besides maybe Old Boy.

Speaking of which, Spielberg wants to remake Old Boy and cast Will Smith as the main character. Can I get a hell no?

I am actually watching another of the trilogy Sympathy for Lady Vengence but accidently only d/loaded the first half so will let you know how I get on with it - but yeah I agree with you there

Hmm should be interesting, still i didn't exactly enjoy the ending (not the epilogue so to say) of Old Boy.

Well if you have not seen the real life movie its a must , and if you like that than I would rec all miike Takashi films are all very querky in their own right - especially Visitor Q - definatly has its funny moments and WTF sprinkled in for good measure. But I am a fan of Japenese movies.

And while I am here I would rec Old Boy (Korean RL film) all readily available - quite happy to rec more - just ask :)

Yeah Texhnolyze is disturbing but on different levels.
Frankly there are few things that i find more powerfull then the message conveyed by tha anime and i could count them on the fingers of a single hand...

Also regarding the confusion i just did a wikipedia search and i found out about the movie.....(anime-movie, and real movie >_<) so in the end it was my fault for being to lazy and not searching enough...

I think Texhnolze is more disturbing but in a very differnt way
