It starts out with a man named Desmond who had a family of assassins but didn't belive about the templars or assassins or the war. He was captured by the templars and put on a machine called the animus witch could search through his memories and get the templars more imformation.He went through the times of an assassin and about the mythical pieces of eden, the sword, the staff, the apple and a war against the templars.The assassin Altair was tricked by a templar into killing all the other templars so that the one he was working for could have the apple all for him self.Then he was captured by the assassins and went through with Ezio whos family are going to be killed by for treason (other than his mother and sister) by the templars. Ezio's father tells him to go to his office and find a secret room and look in a chest which he finds an assassins suit and some documents. he puts on the suit and delivers the documents to the man who was in his fathers office.Little did he know the templars threatend him with the life of his loved ones to kill them. the next day they were killed so him his mother and sister fled to his uncles town were he finds out about his families secret and tries to avenge them while finding out about the codex and the pieces of eden.He lets one person survive and then goes into a secret chamber and the ancient beings that created the humans tell Desmond to find secret temples witch were built by those who were against the war.
