Maximum the Hormone was created by Daisuke Tsuda and Nawo Kawakita, together with former members Sugi and Key, in 1998. Currently, the group consists of Daisuke Tsuda (Daisuke-han), Nawo Kawakita, Ryo Kawakita (Maximum the Ryo), and Futoshi Uehara (Ue-chan).
Maximum the Hormone was born in Hachiojo (Tokyo), where they were discovered by Sky Records Label. Two years after the release of their debut album, A.S.A. Crew, Sugi and Key retired from the band leaving Daisuke and Nawo in search of new members. Luckily, Nawo’s younger brother had been playing guitar since junior high, and was immediately recruited. With some time, they had finally found Uehara to play bass.
…and so began the supremacy of Maximum the Hormone! m/(^o^)m/
Discography:
In the year 2000, Maximum the Hormone made their first single, Bullpen Catcher’s Dream, which was followed by the EP, Hou, a year later. Subsequently, two more singles (Niku Cup and Enzui Tsuki Waru) were released. At this point, the group had become familiar for Rolling1000tOOn (the ending theme they had provided for the anime
Air Master). Mimi Kajiru (ear biting) and Kusoban (shit disk) were released in 2002 and 2004 respectively. Both were considered (by most of the fans) to be more indie style of all their albums. They made their major label debut CD in June 2004, entitled Rokkimpo Goroshi. In 2007 the band had become a mainstream success among anime fans when they supplied the OP and ED themes (What’s up, people?! and Zetsubou Billy) for the popular anime
Death Note. Their album, Buiikikaesu, which contains these songs, debuted at #5 in the Oricon charts, and sold 70,000 CD’s in the first week of release, by far their biggest sales to date. The band has also released two DVD's entitled Debu vs. Debu (Fatty versus Fatty) in 2005, and Deco vs. Deco in 2008.
