While some decry the unending cycle of the same events for who knows how many episodes, we see the beauty buried beneath. What is more awesome than repeating the same episode yet taking the time and money to freshly animate each episode? Probably rocket dinosaurs, but that is beside the point. The individual episodes are fairly dull, considering you've watched essentially the same thing many times already, but it isn't the episodes that keep you glued to the screen.
It has become a game of chicken, where KyoAni tests the viewers patience. How far can they take it before they give in and finish the arc? There is always that anticipation at the end. Are they going to finish it? Are we going to have to watch more episodes? You aren't wondering what's going to happen to the story. You've wondering just how far KyoAni will go before they slam on the breaks.
