The Yoko Kanno Fanclub is place for every anime fan who has a interest in music made by the Japanese Composer Yoko Kanno. Yoko Kanno has since the middle of 90´s built up a various tunes to different animes ranging from Macross Plus to Ghost in the Shell : The Standalone Complex.

Her music has captured people by the everstanding jazz and blues in Cowboy Brbop or the heavy techno influenced music in Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex. Yoko Kanno's music is still something that can cross the borders of world and reaches out to everyone.

In this Fanclub can people with interest of Yoko Kanno or her's works discuss news about her forthcoming works or take a discussion about something relative to her music.

About the ripping-off discussion... you'll see artists ripping off each other without knowing it. Music is limited by a set of notes on a keyboard for example, and it's getting harder and harder to make more original tunes because it has existed for so long. I don't believe she actually heard a song and thought "hmmm, I'll copy this and change it a bit around here and there", it's surely coincidence (unless stated otherwise, if she does state that it's a sort of cover).

Anyway, I'm a big fan of Yoko Kanno's Cowboy Bebop soundtrack with tracks like Amusement Park, Bindy, Blue, Butterfly, Call Me Call Me... Wait, I'm not going to list every song I love or else it'll take too much space ^^;

I'll be checking out some of the discussions as a new member to the group to see if I can find other interesting OSTs (personally didn't like Wolf's Rain OST) besides CB and Darker than BLACK (I don't remember GitS's OST so I'll have to rewatch to decide.)

Great idea for a club, nobunaga! Good to see other fans of this artist.

I guess the only thing we can say to Kanno plagiarizing stuff is, why not? We all just want to make what we already have better don't we? She just does it with a whole lot of music.
There are a shit-load of people out there who are good at making music (whether it be playing or writing), I suppose her abilities lie in finding good music and making it available to us. If she was to put her efforts into other fields it would effect this negatively. She has her skills as others do in music, hers are just slightly different.

...but yea, she added that element to Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell SAC to make them great
