Information
Adam Lambert is one of the most talented singers to ever hit the American Idol stage. I don't understand how he could have lost. He was so original, talented...and hot. xD I was so torn up over the final result, but he's awesome and we all know it! I can't wait for his first album to come out, and the tour this summer. :D About Adam: Lambert grew up in Rancho Peñasquitos, San Diego, California and attended Deer Canyon Elementary School, Mesa Verde Middle School, and Mt. Carmel High School, where he was in theater, choir, and frequently performed with the school's jazz band. Lambert has been a stage actor since he was about ten years old; he was cast as Linus in San Diego's Lyceum Theater's production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. He also played a part in The Ten Commandments: The Musical at the Kodak Theatre alongside Val Kilmer. He was the understudy for the part of Fiyero in the touring and Los Angeles casts of the musical Wicked. Since 2004, he regularly performs at the Zodiac Show, which was co-created by Carmit Bachar of the Pussycat Dolls. He also performed at the Upright Cabaret. Lambert auditioned for the eighth season of American Idol in San Francisco, California. During his initial audition, he sang "Bohemian Rhapsody". In the semifinals, Lambert was voted into the Top 13, joining fellow Group 2 performers Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen. Lambert and Allen became roommates in the Idol mansion, with Allen stating it was due to their neatness. During Michael Jackson week, he sang "Black or White" leading to praise from all four judges, with Paula Abdul predicting that he would go on to the finals. The following week, Lambert sang a version of "Ring of Fire". While Randy Jackson, DioGuardi, and Abdul all liked his performance, Cowell called it "indulgent rubbish". On Motown night, Lambert distanced himself from his rocker persona, singing a slowed down, acoustic version of "The Tracks of My Tears". The judges all liked it, and Smokey Robinson, the week's mentor and the original singer-songwriter, gave Adam a standing ovation. For his Top 8 performance, Lambert sang the 2001 Gary Jules arrangement of "Mad World". Because the show had exceeded its time slot, only Cowell gave a critique, which he did by simply giving Lambert a standing ovation. During the results next night, the other judges agreed that a standing ovation was the best critique of Adam's performance. For his second Top 7 performance, Lambert sang "If I Can't Have You", delivering what DioGuardi described as his "most memorable performance", while Cowell described his vocals as "immaculate". Abdul was reduced to tears, with host Ryan Seacrest joking that Lambert had melted her into a "pool of Abdul". In the Top 4, Lambert was the first to sing, performing "Whole Lotta Love". Cowell commented, "that was one of my favourite performances... nobody can top that now", while Abdul, punning on the song's title, described Lambert's performance as "a whole lotta perfect". Season 7 American Idol winner David Cook stated that Lambert and Allen are his favorites of Season 8. Country music singer and actress Reba McEntire has echoed the same opinions, also adding Iraheta to her list of favorites. Photos of Lambert kissing a man were shown and discussed by conservative commentators on The O'Reilly Factor; they agreed that the images would likely have no impact on the competition because the focus remains on the singers' talent. Lambert confirmed that the photos were of him, stating he had nothing to hide and has always been open about his life. For the top three show, Lambert chose to sing at his alma mater, Mt. Carmel High School. While there, he performed both "Black or White" by Michael Jackson, and "Mad World" by Tears for Fears. After his performance, San Diego mayor Jerry Sanders declared May 8 "Adam Lambert Day". On May 20, 2009, Lambert was announced as the runner-up for the eighth season of American Idol. Lambert performed a medley with rock band Kiss during the final episode. Lol, all that information was taken from Wikipedia. Adam's birthdate is January 29, 1982. That makes him 27 years old. Remember that, baw. On May 21, 2009; Adam had a live chat via text messaging between himself and fans. Fans had the opportunity to ask questions and have Adam reply. Beyond the spoiler tag are a few of the questions and Adam's responses. 1. Q: "We simply love you! We are so proud you did so good. Wondering what the tatoo on your wrist is and represents?" A: "The tatoo on my wrist is an Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol, and it is suppose to be an eye of protection against negative energy. I got it right when the season started." 2. Q: "How do you feel about the tabloids exploiting your personal life?" A: "It comes with the territory, and there really is not anything I can do about it. I am really confident about who I am, and I do not let it bother me." 3. Q: "Is your eyeliner permanent, if not what is your favorite brand of eyeliner?" A: "No, it's not permanent. That would be too much for me. I use a Max Factor Smolder, which is black." 4. Q: "Adam what was the strangest thing that happened to you while participating in idol?" A: "Just all of the fans, seeing them get all over-excited. For example the streaker in San Diego, it was so funny to me." 5. Q: "Hey Adam, you're always dressed to impress. What was your favorite outfit that you wore?" A: "I really liked my outfit for "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin. There is a company Skingraft and the designers are friends of mine, they did that jacket and several others that I have been wearing, including the black leather jacket I wore in the photoshoots. I love clothing and it is really rewarding to be able to feature the work of my friends." 6. Q: "Hey Adam, what did Kris say to you at the end of "We are the Champions"?" A: "It was a really special moment for us. I think he said "that was awesome and that it was an honor to be performing with him". For us it really was not a competition against eachother, instead it was a chance to be our best each week." 7. Q: "I absolutely adore you and think you are incredible! How did it feel when Katy Perry came out wearing your name on her cape?Did you know she was going to do that?" A: "No, I did not know. I was shocked and so flattered, my mouth just dropped open and i thought "no way"! I thought to myself that if I went home that night it would have been just fine. I am a huge fan of Katy." 8. Q: "Adam, you're amazing and are my American Idol! What's the greatest life lesson you will take from this whole experience?" A: "For me it is about the power of positive thought. I never hesitated to help or support the other contestants, and that made it very rewarding. The more you help others, the more you will get in return. This experience has confirmed my belief system and I will continue to live this way." At the end of the chat, Adam's closing words to his fans were the following: "I just want to thank you for embracing something different. I am not your average contestant and it took a lot of courage for people to believe in me and the courage from the fans fed my courage. I hope everyone is ready for the next stage, in which I will become an original artist. Also, I hope people can continue to realize the joy that can be found by being unique and different."
