An extremely reluctant princess, he only takes on the job because of the penalties for not doing so. He is embarrassed to pretend to be a girl and becomes angry and flustered when he is treated as a school "idol", which just makes the other (male) students bother him even more. Even though the other princesses tell him that becoming comfortable with the role would actually reduce the attention he receives, his pride makes him refuse to believe them or act more "like a princess".
His girlfriend is Megumi, the main character of The Day of Revolution, which shows a certain level of acceptance of gender ambiguity that isn't as obvious in Princess Princess. Despite this, Mikoto is desperate not to let Megumi know about his princess role.
