Finished up with Kaze no stigma (Stigma of the wind) today. An interesting 24-episode series based on the return of outcast son of the Kannagi wind clan, Kazuma, who, unable to live up to the power that defined his family, a black spot to the family name, was banished from the family. The series is about Kazuma's return to his hometown, fours years after being made to leave, now a Contractor (drawing his powers from the Wind Lord), as opposed to the element of Fire that furnishes the Kannagi family. Onwards is his reunion with brother Ren Kannagi, cousin Ayano (with whom a romantic connection is fettered throughout the series). Kazuma is still resentful towards his old family, and only agrees to help them out with 'jobs' under the condition of being paid large sums of money. They (Kazuma, Ren, Ayano) battle demons, youma, rivals, and even their weaknesses within. An intelligent and enjoyable anime, with a story that develops right up to the end. Kazuma's character might be lacking in dimensions, but Ayano's overbearing, fiery personality overcomes any deficencies.
