Anime Relations: Amada Anime Series: Super Mario Brothers
This list is going to take a while to complete, but I thought I should start keeping track of what games I've beaten! Let's see if I can even remember them all...? I think I'll only put what I've beaten, NOT what I've played or am currently playing. For instance, I have a Wii and have played games on it, but I haven't beaten any of them yet, therefore I won't include them in this list yet.

I'll include the status of each completion (number of endings unlocked, beaten but without 100% completion, etc.). Some of you may not consider it completed without 100%, but I consider it "beat" once I've seen the credits roll, or for endless games, once I've completed the main story and only the extra things are left (completing the Pokedex, finding all the hidden items, unlocking all the endings, etc). For games with no storyline, I consider it finished when I have unlocked everything (i.e. recipes in Cooking Mama, songs in DDR, etc.), although I'll probably include all my DDRs once I've unlocked all the songs, whether or not I beat the boss ones...However keep in mind that I don't use the mat. I play DDR on the controller because I consider it more fun..

Either way, I generally strive for 100% completion, so chances are if it's not complete, I'm still working on it.

Once upon a time, I joined the Navy. I left for boot camp in August. Following boot camp, there were a lot of long boring boat rides. The end.

That's a sad story, right? Maybe? Well, it's sad for me because it is true. However, if you are interested in making my story a happy one, you may suggest anime to me that I will then try to download in order to fill a 2TB hard drive. I will download anything suggested as long as:

1. I haven't seen it (though I won't ask you to hunt through my list to make sure)
2. It can't be hentai! (never know who's watching/listening)
3. I haven't downloaded it already. (nuff said)

Suggestions on free downloading sites are great too. XD I've got a few, but their selections are limited. I DO have a membership with Megaupload until the end of this month, so I welcome anything that they provide.

However, you don't need to go that far unless you have the information offhand. I will be very happy just to get suggestions for titles! :D (By the way, I welcome Super Nintendo game suggestions too. I've got an emulator. Old school games rock my world)

Here is my Live-Action list! I'm trying to decide if I want this to include only live-action movies and series made from anime, or all Asian movies in general. Death Note: The Last Name (Japanese) (7/10)

Count all the harem anime you know of that have an original premise. I implore you to tell me if it takes more than one hand. And please tell me what series they are, as well. I could use something different.

The problem with harem anime is mainly the lack of originality. A majority of the ones I've seen are all about fan-service. Also, most of the time it is fairly obvious who the male protagonist will end up with. There are exceptions...but they are few and far between. The worst part is that there are usually only two real love interests. Everyone else is either a sibling or a girl who happens to live with him/be near him who may or may not admit to actually liking him. And most of the time they do. And most of the time he's not even that great.

As for those two love interests. How many variations have I seen?

1. Hot vs. Average
2. Big Boobs vs. Small Boobs
3. Outgoing vs. Shy and Insecure
4. Doesn't Belong Anywhere vs. Uber Rich
5. Alien, etc. vs. Human

...I'm sure there are more. But a majority of harems that I've seen fall into these categories.

The harem genre is failing miserably because there are a couple of cookie-cutter formulas that harems generally stick to: Either the male protagonist ends up accidentally engaged to a female, or he is involved with two girls because of something that happened in their childhood. These are the two most common scenarios I've seen.

To be honest, harems are simply getting old. I know I'm not the only one who feels that way. Even hentai harems are all the same. The male protagonist likes a specific girl, but he still screws everyone else before and after he screws her.

So who has been original so far? Let's see...School Days comes to mind. It's certainly unconventional, albeit screwed up. Tenchi Muyo actually has an interesting plot beyond the romance (depending on the alternate reality of the day). Boku Satsu Tenchi Dokuro-chan has tons of unneeded violence, although that simply makes it tastelessly funny rather than original. Chaos;Head is a psychological story where, again, the romance takes the back seat. Even Maburaho gives us something to distract ourselves from the harem-ness, i.e. the whole magic thing (although I wouldn't list it as an amazing show; it's just fairly entertaining). Vandread is unconventional because it gives you the elements of a harem mixed in with a serious story. While watching it, I felt as though Vandread wasn't really a harem, when it really is if you think about it... (It's not even tagged for harem, which surprised me. That must mean it hid it's harem-ness well.)

Then you get shows like Magikano, To-Love-Ru, Hand Maid May, Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun, and Onegai Twins which, to me, all appear to be carbon copies of each other...

Kampfer started out making me think it would be original. Then...it disappointed me.

Would you consider Elfen Lied a harem? Just because a guy is surrounded by females, does it automatically make it a harem anime? How about Maria+Holic? If the main character is a lesbian surrounded by girls, is THAT a harem?

Can you think of any harems that present something new to the genre? I'd love to see a new take! ~

Take a look at my anime list, if you'd like. If you don't like, then you can simply take my word for it. My Drop list is empty.

Currently I am at 335 Completed anime and counting. I have never dropped an anime, although I have certainly kept things on hold for long periods of time.

I have often scrolled through different users' lists, and sometimes I am amazed by what I see in the Dropped list. I've seen series that are dropped at episode 1, when often it takes a couple episodes for the series to pick up. Let's face it. The first episode is not always the best. But I'm certain most of us have seen at least one anime where episode 1 was not a good representation of the series. Anyone name one? W~Wish comes to mind for me. If I sift through my list I know I'll find more. Fairly often I have raised my rating of an anime from episode to episode (and just as often, I'm sure, I've lowered it as well). This is why I've started waiting until around episode 4 to start actually rating anime.

My point it: How do you know how good something is by the first episode? On occasion that's all it takes to know a genre isn't right for you. When it comes to suspense and horror, there is usually a tell-tale sign that this series will be a little disturbing. You know that part near the beginning of School Days when the male protagonist gets momentarily violent, the animation gets extraordinarily better, and you think something is very wrong? And suddenly he catches himself and apologizes? Yeah. There's a reason for that. (Same with that splattery crunching sound you hear in episode 2 of Shadow Star Narutaru) If you know horror is not your thing at all, you'd better be good at catching these signs.

I guess one of the big differences between me and many other people on this site is that I don't have a genre I stray away from. It keeps things interesting when I don't follow only specific types of anime. I enjoy a healthy mix of magical girl, horror, fighting, and made-for kids anime (although I will admit the harem series are getting pretty old, and I am aware of at least one hentai with some 2-girls-1-cup action that I want no part of). Basically I never get tired of one genre (except harem).

And when it comes to harem, I'm still willing to give it until the end to redeem itself. Although most of the time...it doesn't.

A good argument is that many of you would much rather spend your time on the good stuff rather than waste time on the crappy stuff. This is a valid argument. There are all types of otaku, and I am the type that will watch anything and everything (except that 2-girls-1-cup hentai). After watching a series that leaves me tense (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni) or emotionally exhausted (Saikano), it feels great to kick back with some To-Love-Ru, Ocha-ken, or Onegai Teacher. And let me tell you, Ocha-ken left me feeling pretty good. :3

Not everyone has the time I do to devote to watching anything and everything. However, I want to encourage you to not drop Mars of Destruction after one minute. If you finish it, you get bragging rights that you've seen it. (I admit this is a big reason for watching a lot of what I've watched) Seriously though, if it's a series, give it a few episodes. You may be surprised. It could drag you into the story and refuse to let go. This has happened to me numerous times.

One last point: If you happen to be in an art field such as illustration, animation, or character design, or if you are interested in writing or directing anything, I encourage you EVEN MORE to watch series that you hate. It's important to experience the good AND bad so you can be conscious of the retarded mistakes others in those fields make. You are more likely to NOT make those mistakes if you have drawn your attention to them already.

Now please. Go watch Mars of Destruction. It's terrible. Then you can add it to your list and we can all laugh about it together. ~

This is my first entry in this blog. Since an introduction is troublesome, I'll skip it. XD

So recently I found a site where I can stream tons of licensed series. I know what you're probably thinking. "Ew, illegal." My excuses are as follows: Many of them I cannot find in stores; my PayPal account is frozen through (little) fault of my own, so I cannot currently order offline; it's smart to sample a series before buying it so I don't end up with junk on my shelf. I want only good titles in my collection, and I have no intention of funding a series that I have no desire to see more of.

That being said, I don't drop series. Period. That's the only reason some of these series are still on my list.

To be honest, it feels great to revisit some of the series I grew up on, especially those I never got to finish. That was before buying boxsets was the norm and it was easier to find individual DVDs at Best Buy. XD It's nostalgic, which makes watching the dubbed version less horrible. Currently I have Kaleidostar as my top priority, and I'm surprised how enjoyable the dub is for me, considering it isn't one of the best. (Although it's not that bad, really)

Normally I prefer to watch subbed. When Josh (my fiance) puts in an anime I complain when he insists on watching it dubbed, ESPECIALLY when I know how amazing the Japanese is. However, watching dubbed anime really isn't so bad when it comes down to it. There are types of voices that piss me off (I won't name names), but on occasion I feel the English can be just as good as the Japanese. Not to mention it's easier for those of us not fluent in Japanese to multi-task. If you check my history, I tend to watch quite a bit in a day, and that is because I have it playing while cleaning or on Facebook or any other activity you can multitask during. Unfortunately I can't sit on my ass all day long...I'm leaving for bootcamp in four months. XD While watching a dubbed anime, I can do pushups, situps, jumping jacks, and anything else I can come up with.

Given there are series I refuse to watch dubbed, I generally save dubs for unmemorable anime and anime that are nostalgic for me since I watched dubs in junior high and high school. I like to save subs for times when I can really sit down and enjoy them. That means I keep the anime that are really worth watching subbed, and I marathon Dragonball Z while cutting up wedding magazines.

I know the sub/dub war has always been raging, but I'm a firm believer that there is a healthy balance. Unless you know Japanese, you must devote a lot of time to ass-sitting. For the sake of my health, I will watch some dubbed. I'll save the currently airing releases for when I'm doing dishes. (It's hard to hear over the running water, so reading subtitles is much easier!)

On an end note...Es Otherwise is the shittiest anime ever, subbed OR dubbed.
