Anime WAY TOO PRICEY!
Recently, I've turned down buying multiple Anime just because they're too pricey. Shows like Xam'd which are only one season long/24 episodes would cost me about $100 to buy! $100 a season is way overpriced! I got Star Trek the Next Generation season 1 for like half the price and it has 1183 minutes of video compared to the 600-700 minutes a anime season has! (Granted Star Trek Next Gen is from the early 90's)
So, Seriously, what is up with this? Why is Anime so pricey? Why do they always split Anime seasons into 'parts' that have like 10-15 episodes each?
One of the first Anime I bought was Monster. It came in a nice big boxset and was like 50 bucks so I assumed I was getting a whole season or the complete collection. I got the boxset, which was nearly empty except for like 3 dvd's while the boxset was the size it could have held like 10. I soon learned it only had 15 episodes. Monster has like 74 episodes. Are they planning on releasing 4 or 5 big 'boxsets'?
If they would lower these prices then consumers like me wouldn't turn away from buying them because of the price. Do they not realize if they make them too pricey then I'll just watch them online? Anyways, I still got to watch these animes but I am depressed that a copy isn't on my bookshelf.
