Anime Relations: Saki
I finished this one a little late, but I think it was well worth the wait. The last few episodes made me take a new look at the show and made it a little better. The main problem was that we delved into so many characters backstories, which yes, it does create a more believable world, but it loses its ability to tell a linear story. Thus, I leave Saki with an 8. Very Good, but lacking greatness.

Anime Relations: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009)
So we finally survive Endless Eight. and overall I was satisfied. Sure I bitched and moaned a bit at the repetitive show but overall, I had a fun time. Was 8 episodes over kill for apparently 30 pages in a light novel, which ends with the doing of Homework? I'd say yes. Now to see if what comes next wil be any better.

Anime Relations: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009)
Haruhi Arc - Endless Eights : Epic Trolling by KyonAni. I still find it enjoyable this time, makes me wonder how it's going to end, but I have no idea how I am going to react to the next episode.

Anime Relations: Otaku no Video, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone
I went to Otakon the previous weekend and had an amazing time. I was lucky enough to get to see the North American premiere of Evangelion 1.0 and was it amazing.

Eva was a top notch show, with it covering a lot of elements from the original show, the new artworks was amazing. The dubs were strong, and all seemed well, except for Misato, but even that grew on you after a while. The ending was a little, different, and it makes me excited for 2.0.

Otaku no Video was an amazing look into 1980's otaku culture and was overall good. The only thing that really messes with you is the last 10 minutes. The reality check and the looks into real otakus (obviously fake) was still entertaining and fun.

Gurren Lagann, where to start? I did not enjoy the first episode of this show, but I watched the rest of it and wow did it get really good. Episodes 2-9 were strong fun and enjoyable. There is only so much badassery one can take and this was perfect. Episodes 10-15 were enjoyable but not like 2-9. After the time skip, it felt like the show didn't know if it was mechs or politics then it realized it was mechs and got badass again. Then Galaxies were thrown at galaxy-sized mechs and the end. Very cool, but depressing early on. I can't help but say I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it.

Anime Relations: Cross Game
When a man is a baseball player, and decides that punching a wall is a good idea, you have to question his thought process. When it's Yuuhei Azuma, you know his bad assery has no limits, he punches the wall, and says "Show you can with without me" to the main team. Azuma is scary. So scary he's cool. So scary, you could shoot a bullet at him and he'd bat it away. So scary, he probably drinks the blood of the innocent after using it to moisten his cheerios. He is a winner, and he shows you this by almost throwing away all his hard work, and if you don't like it: fuck you.

The show has these moments, the silent moments, where the characters say nothing, but convey so much by slight action. Yuuhei Azuma's brother is a perfect example of this, with his picking up of the baseball, and putting down on the chair. The emotion conveyed is strong, and the style of art continues with it's unique feel. The show continues to be top tier for me.

I await the next episode with anticipation, as long as Azuma does not devour it first.
