Gunslinger Girl -Il Treatino-
I have no clue why people hate this show so much. I personally find this right in between Gunslinger Girl (first season) and Kino's Journey, which is, just enough action to feel engaged with a lot of meaningful stories and plot. Once people have figured out that this is not Gunslinger Girl, then they might enjoy it more. Just watch this as if you haven't seen Gunslinger Girl before, and see how you like it. Don't expect good action scenes, but think of them as killer loli fanservice. I love the stories that unfold in season two as well as the wonderful character development that happens throughout. Except for the little animation bloops that I barely notice, everything about this series so far is wonderful. The OP song is great, the background music is perfect, and it's decently well-paced. In fact, I just enjoyed episode 6 of Il Treatino more than most anime episodes this season.
This anime season...
Well, it looks like this season pretty much owned my mean score. It's at an all-time low of 6.0, but hopefully, some of these new series will pick up.
Anime Re-Watching Marathon!
Apparently when I first started anime, I've watched and hated some series that were said to be really good. Giving "others" the benefit of the doubt and assuming that I was stupid then, I'll have to re-watch some series that I think deserves a second chance. This list includes:
-Full Metal Alchemist
-FLCL
-Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
-Voices of a Distant Star
-Death Note
-Le Portrait de Petit Cossette
-Kanon 2006
Hopefully, I'll be able to appreciate them now. The problem is having the motivation to watch them, because even though I want to, every time I think about each of these anime, I want to never watch them again, especially Petit Cossette and FLCL.
Damn it Yggdra Union!
So this is pretty much my third time playing through Yggdra Union (for GBA, which is essentially the hard mode on PSP). However, it's still hard as hell. It took one and a half hour to perfectly clear Battlefield 7 (Elise), which means stealing Mizer's Winged Sandals, getting Aquarius, Elemina Mint, and Pretty Shell, and killing Ishiene with either Milanor or Nietzsche to make her drop her Brave Ring, and killing Queen Emelone with Nietzsche to make her drop her Gungnir, and doing it in less than 21 turns to get the +2 MVP bonus, while trying to get either Durant, Nietzsche, or Yggdra MVP because Milanor is overleveled with way better stats.
It's not so bad, except for the fact that Mizer appears on the exact opposite side of the map, which means I have to leave Yggdra and Milanor on one side while have Durant and Nietzsche go after Emelone's army. Once Mizer's gone, I can't afford to get both Yggdra and Milanor to Emelone and keep it under 21 turns, so I have to get Yggdra back (Milanor was way overleveled then). The bad thing is with no Milanor, Nietzsche is the only one with high enough luck to make Gungnir drop, and I have to waste an extra turn making her get all the items in the water only. At least Yggdra has 3 star GEN, which means pitting her against Undines (spear users) is not bad, since if they use Blizzard, their TEC (except Emelone) will be too low to hurt Yggdra. I had to get Yggdra and Nietzsche in the right union so the Undines will use Blizzard and get an Invalid/Guard, plus Banshee's Cry and Ace Guard so Yggdra won't get owned by Emelone. Getting the last kill with Nietzsche to make Gungnir drop was the hardest, and because I didn't want Milanor to hog more experience, and trying to form unions without an axe user was quite a pain. This battle would not be possible if I didn't get the Ice Javelin the last map and put it on Durant to get his ATK to 3 stars.
Somehow I got all of the medallions also, except for the bandit's Medallion, which Mizer pillaged. I guess I'm not that much of a perfectionist after all. I'm really tempted to just let Milanor/Yggdra drown so I can keep the experience (and card experience) and redo the level with stronger characters. I don't really care about the Excalibur, but I love Roswell so I really want that Elemental Rod later on.
Note: Yggdra Union is hard as hell, but the most annoying part is how you can't remove weapons! What's the logic in that?
Air
I just watched one of the most amazing anime ever, and it was more amazing three days after I watched it. Yes, I had to constantly think about the anime for three days straight but after that, I think I understood most (if not all) of the series. I think I was on something really strong when I dropped it the first time around.
Shigofumi, a huge surprise
I will admit that this season is the worst season I've ever seen (even since I've started watching anime), and for a long time now I've had Clannad as the best show this season, standing alone at 9/10 while others, if I didn't drop them yet, go back and forth between 4-7/10, rarely reaching 8/10. However, after seeing episode 9, there's no doubt that I will put Shigofumi up there with Clannad as being the best series this season. I loved this series ever since I watched episodes 1 and 2 but it wasn't top on my list because I didn't like episodes 3 and 6. But in between, episodes 4 and 5 were excellent. Then, the series gave us episodes 7 and 8, which were pretty good, and then 9, one of the most emotional episodes I've seen in recent anime. I'm not impressed at its consistency though, but I really hope that episodes 10-12 will also be to my liking.
