Dragon_Empress's Blog

August 25th, 2007

Hello, people. It's been a while since I made a blog entry. And I deleted all the old ones I made. This blog entry was simply inspired by the_pillows and his 'MTV Cribs: The Lost Episode' This entry does nothing and has no importance. I just want to share the wonder of my horses, so everyone can see just how beautiful they are.

And please excuse how dirty they look. Giving them baths doesn't seem to do any good. They like to roll around in the dirt so I kinda gave up on trying to make them look clean XD

Plus they might look a bit skinny. That's because most of these pictures were taken during or after winter, and they had little to no good grass to graze on. They had nothing but their food and what hay we could find.
Note: All photos are taken by me. No Stealing.
Pictures are large and may take time to load.
And thank you for taking the time to read this.

Introduction to My Horses

My Horses

Yes. Those are my horses. I've lived here in Alabama for almost five years now, if it hasn't been already. It took about four years of living here before grandma finally decided to put our 4 1/2 acres of land to use. And that's how we got Rascal. He's the one standing next to the tall dark horse, Buckshot, the second horse we ever got. And then Baby is the one with the blaze (the white stripe down her nose), and Dancer is the white one.

Horses Running Towards Me My horses have quickly become a wonder in my life. They can be stubborn, but I love them dearly. They aren't just animals to ride, or pets. They are my dear friends that, like my dogs, help support me when I need them most.

Rascal

Rascal

Rascal was the first horse I ever got. He's a 3 year old sorrel mustang. He was actually around people ever since he was a foal so he's used to humans. Doesn't mean he won't act up. And man does he act up. He's the most curious creature I've ever met in my entire life. He gets into EVERYTHING. As the picture following this description shows. He's knocked over so many barrels, torn through so many fences, and infiltrated the barn so many times, I'm not really sure what to do with him. He even sprayed me with the water hose once while I was trying to wash out the trough.

He truly lives up to his name, but that doesn't mean I love him any less. He'll always be my baby, and my first horse ever. That white mark on his neck is actually his brand as a mustang. I can't remember what it says exactly, but I think it has something to do with the day he was caught. I'm not entirely sure about it.

Truth is, this boy will always be a troublemaker. But I don't hate him at all. In fact, he's great for a laugh or two. Even though I'm the butt of most of his jokes. X_x;

Buckshot

Buckshot is, all in all, my grandmother's horse. He's a brown, 7 year old Tennessee Walker with an attitude. He's a sweet horse in all, but he knows how to be a brat and, being the Alpha horse, he tries to treat us like we're his subordinates. But we don't stand for that. Even when we give him his food he tries to run over us. But we don't put up with it. We make him 'Give a kiss', which basically means having him nudge our cheek with his upper lip. He does it reluctantly, even to this day. He's tried kicking us a couple times too. But we got him out of that habit, thank God.

As you can see, he really is a beautiful horse. And he looks damn pretty in a saddle. He's a horse that knows what he wants, and won't be happy until he gets it, even if he has to paw his way there. He, just like Rascal, has managed to get into the barn quite a few times. He's not as much of a trouble maker, but he's three times as stubborn as Rascal will ever be. He's a pain too XD

But he does take good care of his herd. <3

Baby
Pretty Baby
Baby is the third horse I ever got. And she is solely mine. She's a 2 year old blonde sorrel Quarter Horse. Though we think there might be some Arabian mixed in. But we're not exactly sure. But this girl is truly my little baby. I love her and she loves me. I actually have an interesting story. One night I decided to go out and check on the horses, just cause I was bored and had nothing else to do. (Except do dishes, but bear with me here.) Baby and Buckshot were already laying down, but Rascal was standing up and keeping a watch on the area. I sat down next to Baby, whom was still awake, and started to pet her. She put her muzzle in my lap and fell asleep XD It still amuses me to this day. And makes me feel special, too, cause grandma said most horses won't even let you near them when they're laying down. I love her so much. <3

And oh is she the dainty little thing. She's got tiny feet, takes tiny bites of her food, and is the only one of our horses that eats with her mouth closed. I'm very serious. The other three eat all 'Nom nom nom' with food spilling everywhere. She's such a girl. That and she likes to flirt. We actually had an electrition the other day, and she started nudging his back and rubbing her muzzle against his neck. She was the first to approach him too. And it's funny. Most horses buck and kick and create a scene when you first try to put a saddle on them. Not Baby girl. She let me get on her back and ride her around a bit with no fuss at all. Though she did try to give grandma a nip while she was putting the saddle on her.
She truly is my sweet little girl. I love her to bits~

Dancer
Dancer
Dancer is my grandma's horse too. He's an eleven year old gray Paso Fino, which means 'Fine Walk' in Spanish. However, those who don't know alot about horses would definitely find the Paso Fino's special gate rather funny. I know Kana did XD She started laughing at it. But... Kanashimi aside, he's the shy one of the group, and tends to graze by himself rather than with the herd, though on rare occassions I can see them all together. It's difficult to get a picture of all four solely due to the fact that Dancer is shy. As you can see he's a truly beautiful horse, though, despite that fact.

He likes to rub his head on me though. Oh does he love to rub his head on me. Horses have a small knot on the top of their head, between their ears. That's a really sensitive feel-good spot for them, and I start scratching him there and he brings his head up against my stomach and starts throwing it up and down. He's a fine horse, but he loves to go fast so whenever grandma asks me if I want to get on I say 'Uhh....maybe next time?' XD

Many <3's for Dancer.

Aftermath
Well, that's everything about my horses. And yeah, I know I love to take pictures of them. They make wonderful subjects XD Anyway, that's all for now. Bye bye~
