Original Profile Info
The following is the details on my profile page before I cleared things out:
(Also added some things afterwards.)
-
My manga rating scale is a bit skewed. I don't like to give high scores just for an overall goodness, like some/most people do. So... the scores might seem cruel at a glance.
My point is to emphasize the really good ones, though, and to give or remove merit for qualities like... unsatisfying ending, feeling of completion, excitement, any major plot holes or things that seem out of place (yes, I apparently evaluate OOC-ness... o_0), not too much stress on originality, etc..
I also don't put much stress on the "quality" of the artwork. I appreciate the variety in styles and the mangakas' effort in drawing... but the quality of the drawings is somewhat important... so I only raise a rating by 1 point if the art is exceptional, decrease by 1 point if the artwork is... not great... very much..., and don't do anything about it if the artwork isn't especially good or not great. (I'm also rather critical/hard-to-please when it comes to art... another possible reason that I don't base my ratings on the artwork.)
I think we all know what 1 means. Nonexistent! Kidding.
If I rate a 2, means it was bad. Kinda. Pretty bad.
-
If I rate a 3, means it was so-so. Not significantly horrible.
If I give a 4, means it's okay. Good, but not that good.
If I give a 5, means it's good. Was good.
If I rate a 6, means it's really good. See above, add "really."
If I rate a 7, means it's excellent. ^^
-
If I give a 8, means it was amazing. Very, very good.
If I give a 9, means it was incredible. Almost perfect...ish.
If I give a 10, means it rocked. ^^ The very best.
Hmm... maybe the ratings aren't that skewed after all.
My ratings are my opinions, though they're subject to change. Also, a lot of the ratings are done long after I've read the manga, so my memory may be foggy, and I might not give the work due credit. I do go back and re-read a bit, as I see fit.
Also, even though I give some of them bad-ish ratings, they're still worth reading. ^^ They sometimes have extremely good qualities in one respect, but since I evaluated the manga overall, some not-so-good parts brought the rating down.
The re-read value I put for manga ratings can be ignored... They're super toned down. That, and for some of the manga, I've re-read parts so many times over, there's no re-read value in them anymore for me ('cause I've all but memorized them by now).
And uh... as you can see, I'm not well acquainted with anime, so... I seem to have curbed their ratings. o_o"

Stuff that's actually about me: <_<'
*ahem* ._.
I really like to read manga, because I love stories. ^^ I also think of it as a way to gather information, and quickly. Not stats or solid information but... I analyze the stories, whether I'm aware of it or not... instantly and usually thoroughly (unless too much time lapsed on a hiatus). That's my learning. :p
Ah, hmm... my favorite genre is gender bender. I also like historical, action, and a bit of shounen ai. (I can't stand a static, cookie-cutter female lead playing opposite a bishie, thus the interest in male x male pairings. Problem solved.) I peek around the shoujo romance section sometimes. As for shoujo or shonen mangas, I like both, and seinen too. I don't have a preference in whether it's manga, manhwa, or manhua(?).
I stay away from ecchi, hentai, and especially smut. Minor ecchi I can handle, and if the summary is interesting enough, I'll read despite it. Reason for my aversion: I'd rather not read through pages and pages of character art without any plot significance to it. This a generalization based on trial and error. Note that I'm not attempting to insult ecchi/smut, as I know there are amazing manga out there from those genres. <_< Pls no flame war. ;_; I don't auto-dislike the manga from these categories. I just don't prefer the genres.
---
Update: Umm.... I still have to add a lot more manga to the list. It'll take a while (I won't be done for a few months EDIT: a few years), I think. Starting with gender benders (since I've already made a non-rated list of what I've read or dropped) and the most memorable ones, and some at random.
Update 2: >_> Realized that I read faster than I can rate. So, I'm gonna just update the list and take my sweet time with rating.
I keep track of what I've read with bookmarks. It's broken into three smaller lists at the moment, and I'm working my way up in reverse-chronological order. I read a bit before I decided to bookmark stuff, so there's probably four lists in reality. I'll work on the blurry fourth list last.
In the middle of list 3 at the moment.
Update 3: ...And I started another list. Whee.
Update 4: Gonna try to update myanimelist every time I finish reading something, so this doesn't get backed up too much. Q_Q ...And mebbe work on making this profile shorter. Mebbe.
Update 5: ... Ugh.... So I have six lists now... .
Update from long ago: I recently went on an anime rampage, so my anime list went from around ten series to whatever it's at atm. Watched several whole series and parts of others in the span of around two weeks, going at approximately one whole series per two days, or a single day, depending on episode counts.
(Also added some things afterwards.)
