I picked up a Sony PSP the other day.  I love it!  I got it used and from the condition of the system, I couldn't say no to the low price (compared to buying it new).

That said, there is a part of me that wishes it held out to import the ceramic white PSP.  The consoles are exactly the same (except for region encoding on UMD movies) harwarewise, but the control scheme is slightly different.  The japanese software uses <Circle> to confirm and <X> to go back.  It is opponsite for the North American (and Europe as well I believe).  Honestly though, I'll live.  I'm going to import some japanese games!  Airport Hero looks especially good, I played the demo.

Another thing though, the Playtation controller is heavily based on the Super Nintendo controller as far as button layout is concerned.  The names of the face buttons were changed from Y->Square, X->Triangle, A->Circle, and B->X.  In my experience, A has been confirm and B has been cancelled.  In japanese games on the Playstation, things have continued this way with Circle confirming.  Why did it change in North America?

Also, I've noticed racing games (well, Gran Turismo and Initial D anyway) use both X and Circle for confirm.  I like it like that too.

My point: I feel that circle is a more natural choice for a "confirm" button.  Thank you Kojima Productions and Poliphony Digital for maintaining this standard for your North American releases.

Anime Relations: Genshiken

The tools for writing entries here are pretty extensive! I've never seen buttons for sub/super-script on the Internet before.

I hope Season 2 of Genshiken doesn't go into volume 9 of the manga before I read it...

Speaking of Genshiken manga: I've been buying the Del Rey releases and have all the ones out so far (1-8). I recently downloaded the raws off the net because I wanted some colour absent from the US version. Skimming through, I've found that Del Rey has moved chapters around for some reason beyond my comprehension. There are chapters in volume 8 that are supposed to be in volume 9 and vice versa. I searched around a little to see if any websites have reported on the discrepency, but have found nothing so far. Del Rey doesn't really have a contact address for me to ask about it either. Maybe they'll put a note in volume 9 explaining themselves, who knows...
