Anime Relations: Kanojo to Kanojo no Neko
As mentioned on my profile, I am very much a statistics freak. I love raising numbers and lengthening lists and MAL and Graph.Anime.+ make watching anime and reading manga a lot more enjoyable.

Upping my watch count:
Because I'm always reaching for the next watched milestone I love upping my watch count anyway I can. Because of this I've really started to enjoy seeking out OVA's and specials to watch from any and all shows I've finished. They may not all be the best extra episodes but it gives me a sense of accomplishment. This has even pushed me to watch a few of the official music videos that have been listed on MAL.

Now the problem with wanting to up my watch count, this also pushes me away from watching longer series. I'm much more likely to start watching a 1 cour season than a 2+ cour season. This may actually be my natural direction since it's easier to focus on something shorter but it starts to show when my backlog of 2-cour seasons in my Plan to Watch list starts growing. This becomes an even bigger issue with seasons over 100 episodes or so. Even though there's an achievement for watching 15, 150+ episode anime, it's such a long term goal that I don't feel motivated to do it. That and in general I don't like focusing on the same anime for too long a period of time.

Achievement Hunting:
Achievement hunting also has a great benefit to my watching habits. I've started to go towards achievements I'm close to by bingeing anime in the same genre for awhile. This allows me to go outside the range of anime I'm planning to watch and finding anime that I wouldn't necessarily have uncovered otherwise. For example when trying to reach the psychological achievement and mystery achievement I also found a few interesting movies and short series to easily reach that goal. Achievement hunting has also gotten me to watch a bit of magical girl anime, although I only watch mature themed series. I don't think I could ever enjoy magical girl anime geared towards kids based on what I've seen parodied in other shows.

But again there's a trade-off to achievement hunting. When I'm in hunting mode, I only like watching anime that fit one of the achievements. There are a lot of anime that don't have any genre that applies to the achievements and it turns we away from watching this. Of course this would cause me to miss out on a lot of amazing shows, so I try to go against the grain every so often.

Overall:
Overall I really enjoy the experience of being a statistics freak. It probably stems from me being an Aspie but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. I probably wouldn't have binged this much anime if it weren't for MAL. I've gotten more out of my weeaboo life thanks to this weird quirk of mine and I'm glad it's a part of me.
