Welcome back. Last time Kaoruko told us to go check on some evil ojou who may or not may be the enemy this month. Then some ship randomly showed up and opened revealing the ojou inside.

Head

Hair
Aeka has dark purple hair. In some series the color is more dark blue or less dark purple but the original is dark purple, and purple is a noble color so this fits Aeka the proper elegant ojou well. The hairstyle is kinda weird, as she has long hair but is put up in looooong low twintails, so at first she may look to have a bowl cut instead. Bowl cuts are the best kind of short hair, but long hair is still better. She also comes close to proper hime cut as her front bangs are not quite perfect but close, and she sometimes even has for some reason a gap in middle of her proper bangs. She has the sidelocks at least but even those are not simple as she has two golden “pins” or rather hairband sides hold around the bangs. The hairband is UNDER the bangs case is unclear. This may be perhaps the most difficult do describe hairstyle I ever had to do or close to, but the results are worth it since Aeka looks unique and elegant. If only she had proper bangs.

Eyes
Aeka has red eyes, as usual my favorite color and one that goes well with her hair color and usual clothes. In Ai it looks dark pink, but only there. The shape is kinda tareme if not too much. Surprisingly she has fewer eyelashes than Ryouko and this is helpful as huge or plentiful eyelashes look bad. Aside from no glasses she is essentially perfect.
Grade: A+

Body

Build
Aeka is not too bad on this. Sadly she only has a height and is 161 cm so kinda okay but nothing special. At least she is shorter than Ryouko but by 1 cm only. No official data on weight but is fine. The problem is her three sizes are secret, so lame! However if nothing else Ryouko has 81/57/83 and chances are Aeka is similar, which is good as means not too big breasts. And indeed Aeka’s chest is nothing special, but old shows are mostly rather humble in busts compared to modern ones. Sadly this can also apply to other body parts, though mostly her legs as at times they look great and at others are kinda thin. At least she has a nice flat stomach as usual. Oh, and Aeka is shown younger in some flashbacks. Overall the ojou is good but not amazing.

Butt
Aeka shows her bare ass every now and then because classic OVAs rule like that, but as usual is nothing amazing because classic OVAs blow like that.

Clothes
Aeka has worn many costumes. Generally kimono for some reason, guess Jurai is just another name for Space Japan or something. The pink one from the OVA first series probably is most known, and it looks great so is fine. Note despite being kimono all have slight details like vests or undershirts to look more varied. Said OVA hosts the battle suit as well, though despite the name it also is a kimono but red and black so no complaints for that. There are other costumes like towels and swimsuits but this is huge so keeping track of all is hard. Official art has Darth Vader cosplay of sorts, normal and modern clothes but the kimono are better, plenty of swimsuits, black sailor uniform with white ribbon, and wedding dress among others. Aeka gets away with this decent score because kimono girls are wonderful, but still she needs more cosplay variety as well.

Even in those times putting girls in pretty costumes was not that weird. Like Bulma in the bunny costume and Lunch in the sexy lingerie!

Mind

Personality
Aeka has different pasts depending on the series. For the original OVA and thus main focus of this blog she is the First Princess of planet Jurai’s noble family who had to travel to Earth in search of her missing half-brother and fiancée as he had left after space criminal Ryouko and like all aliens he ended on Earth at some point. This is precisely why she dislikes Ryouko even besides the Tenchi harem thing, though as usual in these shows she eventually becomes kind of friends with her and all that nice fuzzy stuff. From research in Tenchi Universe her story is similar except she is not the princess but just a minor royal, in Tenchi in Toukyou the brother part is sadly excised and instead she just hunts Ryouko for regular reasons, in Pretty Sammy OVA due to plot reasons she became Aeka Takada and was just a regular Earth rich girl and the president of class, and in Pretty Sammy TV now she was named Romio and more strangely was one of the villains. And when Ai Tenchi Muyou let everyone stay basically the same as their classic selves it was a disgrace to the franchise. Ah.

Most series keep Aeka with the same personality though, that of a frail but noble and elegant lady. So basically a space Yamato Nadeshiko to put it bluntly. Nothing bad about this, of course. And as such she will do anything for those she loves which generally speaking are Tenchi and her family. Aeka does have harsher moments whenever the Ryouko rivalry is invoked, but she is only harsh with Ryouko and generally nice with Tenchi which is more reasonable hating the guy for no reason despite many modern shows doing the latter. Basically Aeka is my kind of girl and unsurprisingly enough fans favor Ryouko and even Sasami much more. Shame about that tho not the worst case. Like most aliens she has superpowers; mostly the standard set of flight, superhuman strength and speed, beams, and barriers. Also the guardians mentioned in the plot are something she can summon. Other series have her be quite different of course, but that is not as important for the blog. Overall Aeka is easily excellent among classic girls, surprising as most character types I favor appear in modern series exclusively. No wonder classic girls score so poorly. Oh, and lest someone forgets to bring up the elephant in the room Aeka is her actual name and because of reasons was changed to Ayeka in America. In theory this was for people having less issues saying her name right, but in my experience people mess up names no matter what so this only makes her name look confusing to Spanish speakers much like all these dumb accents people saddle on Japanese words because. Bleh.
Grade: A-

Libido
Aeka was engaged to her brother and wanted to marry him so this already helps loads with the score. Sadly she is dejected when she finds her brother got married so many years ago and moves into his grandson or her grandnephew so to say. What. Is not terrible because incest is love, but is still weird no one brings that up. At least in different continuities she and Tenchi may not be related, but still. Anyway incest arguments aside Aeka is a nice girl that cares for Tenchi and loves him openly and naturally this helps. Shame she is not naughty like Ryouko as that would help further.

Age
Aeka has lived for a long, long time. In fact she spent over 700 years in suspended animation but that does not count. Apparently she looks around 17 but is at times certainly hard to pin ages in anime. In some spin-offs she is in high school so for simplicity might as well use that as the basis for her score and poof.
Grade: B+

Voice
Yumi Takada is a nice classic VA, nothing bad but nothing special as moe voices were less common at the time. However she retired on 2009 so Aeka for Ai got a new voice though everyone else got their classic VAs instead at least. Haruhi Nanao was chosen and sure enough she did a nice job. Guess some people were bothered but I was lucky enough to watch Ai first and thus avoid the issue. That aside Aeka actually uses proper ojou speak and that gives her points as usual since ojou are adorable. These also include addressing properly her brother as ONIISAMA and that is great.
Grade: B+
