: And where exactly is "here"?

Weren't you paying attention to the previous blogs? We're at the national sectional regional Gunpla tournament!

: Well, the tournament I recall, but weren't you just getting your supplies? How did we get here too?

Never underestimate the power of one week! Even if it doesn't seem possible I was able to finish!

*Topaz holds up his gunpla, though since it's under a sheet only the outline is visible.*

And how we got here, well, the viewers don't need to see everything...

: I still don't see why you didn't let me watch you make it. It's not like I'm going to spill any secrets.

Nothing personal, I just want to keep it a surprise from the audience.

: Grrr, you and your mysteries.

*The two walk past a gate that has the word "competitors" written on it. However, a brown-haired girl stops Riri.*

: Halt! Where do you think you're going?

We're going to compete. Isn't this the way?

: This is a single-person battle according to the rules set by the creator of this tournament. Your assistant will have to wait outside.

Those are dumb rules!

: I know, it's like how a certain company only expects you to use three monsters in competitive play at once rather than your whole team!

Exactly! But we can't break the rules...

: Heh, you're not even close to being rich enough!

: Right this way then, Topaz.

Hey, how do you know my name?

: It says so on this sheet.

Phew, that's a relief. I thought that my Imprint ability was starting to work.

: Don't be too sure, she did write "favorite little brother" by your name...

: *flustered* H-hey! Don't look at the list! Especially when I have to escort our last competitor into the arena. Follow me.

*Mirai walks into a futuristic elevator and Topaz follows her. They shoot upward towards the arena.*

: Harumph! I don't want to ride such a childish ride-er, elevator, anyway!

*A purple haired girl appears behind Riri. It's Shion.*

: *pant pant* Hey, where did Topaz go?

: He went into the arena. Why, do you need to tell him something?

: It's a trap!

: I think you're off by over a month, but that impression could use some practice anyway.

: Impression? No no, I mean that the whole tournament is a trap!

: Huh?

: I heard someone who calls herself "Kirara" planning it...

: But her show isn't even over! How many of these Cures do we have to beat?

: No, this one is an idol.

: That doesn't exclude the one I'm thinking about...

: And she's a Gunpla expert!

: Wait, now I I know who you're talking about! We'd better go rescue Topaz!

: Luckily I happen to have two tickets already, and they're front row too!

: I'll pay you back for this sometime, Shion!

*The two run into the arena and finally get to their seats just as Topaz and Mirai arrive.*

: Alright everyone, whose ready to see some Gunpla?!

*Crowd cheers.*

: That's right! This is the national sectional regional Gunpla tournament, and here's our challenger Topaz!

*Topaz goes to the 3D projection table as the crowd continues to cheer. Riri and Shion wave him down.*

So this is where you guys went. What's up?

: It's a trap, Topaz! This whole tournament was done by the Chessmasters to capture you!

: You'd better escape!

No, if I want to know what the Chessmasters are up to this time I'm going to have to see it for myself!

: Don't be reckless!

: Good luck!

Thanks, I'll be needing it.

*Topaz goes back to the table,*

Now, how about I do you for my blog today, Mirai?

: Sorry, but I have instructions not to allow you to do me as this week's blog. I think the tournament organizer wants you to do the tournament girls.

That makes sense, but I do hope to do you allow me the chance.

: Maybe after all this is over.

So where is this organizer? I think the crowd is getting bored.

*The giant television to his side turns on and a video call starts, with Kirara appearing on screen.*

: Kira~ Welcome to the tournament, Topaz! As you can see I've set it up so that you'll be fighting all three competitors.

*A giant version of the bracket appears which shows him facing all three.*

Ah, so it's a Mortal Kombat-type of tournament then.

: That's right, and if you fall even once in battle I'll force you to stop making blogs. Then the Chessmasters will be spared from their poor scores!

: W-what? I didn't hear anything about this!

: Of course, I needed an announcer that's not me. I can't commentate on my own battle. But first you have to face my first soldier!

????: Eeeeeks! I-I mean, I have to battle you!

*A shy hooded girl appears an stands on the other side of the battlefield.*

Looks like I won't be able to do you this week, Mirai.

: A shame, but I imagine someday in the future.

Eeeksgirl: That won't be possible...

*The Eeeksgirl removes her shadowy hood.*

: I-I'll prevent more of your naughty blogs today!

Looks like...



: Alright, since the crowd is getting antsy how about we start the battle?

Right now? But I wanted to do my blog first!

: You can do both!

But I might not be able to concentrate well on the battle...

: That's the point, ohohoho!

*Misaki puts her angel Hikaru on one side of the battlefield while Topaz finally reveals his custom Gundam Maxter. It's about the same, only alternate colors as the helmet is yellow, a green torso, and yellow legs and arms. Ririchiyo facepalms.*

: Topaz, don't tell me that's the Pack-

No no no, it's the WISCONSIN Gundam. Sadly I couldn't put cheese on its head.

: Like that would make it any more ridiculous! Wait, did you say CHEESE?

Of course!

: Americans are strange. Cheese is for burgers, not for headgear! Ahhh, now I want a burger....

: Still, your mecha seems like a load of Crockett!

Hey, I worked hard on it. Do you believe in me or no?

: *sighs and facepalms* I guess you have your own pride. Heh, but even with your foolishness I shall be behind you.

: Alright, since the, er, Gundams, are in position, let's get this battle started!

*Misaki shoots out Hikaru first, lowering her visor-like eyewear as well.*

: Hikaru MS Girl Gundam, go!

*It lands safely on the Battlefield-like stage, as in from the Smash series.*

Wisconsin Gundam, let's go!

*The Wisconsin Gundam arrives on the skateboard and climbs off. The boad then goes back on the back.*

: Wow, that entrance reminds me of a certain young boy's entrance in Smash. Well, the one that's not released yet. Plus it would be ironic if the "American" Gundam never released in the US...

: Hmm? Talking about something?

: Er, don't pay attention to my nerdy talking. (Man, Topaz has really gotten me addicted to these sorts of things...)

: Now that each contestant is ready, let's begin!

But before that, how about I start my blog?

Head
Hair: Misaki's hair is mostly short, but her sides reach her chest. It's interesting but not too attractive (it sort of looks like a reverse mullet). That said she does have some yellow bands at the bottom which do look cute, and the ends of her hair also flow which is a nice positive. Her hair also seems messy in the 90's/early 2000's style, with the bangs seeming out of control and raising a bit in the front. Her hair color is brown, which is nice. The problem is that the series came right after Cardcaptor which ALSO had a brown-haired female protagonist so maybe brown wasn't the best color (she does seem somewhat more-red tint in the manga art). Overall not too outstanding but Misaki does have a few interesting details that keep her from being average.
Grade: B-

Eyes: Again, like Sakura from Cardcaptor, Misaki has bright blue eyes. I don't mind the color too much but I will say that it seems really bright for some reason. Luckily I read the manga instead of watching the anime so it wasn't as big of a problem for me.

: So THAT's how you're able to do her blog. I was wondering why you hadn't mentioned that you didn't watch the anime.

I probably should have said that earlier, but I was expecting more opportunity to begin. Anyway, getting back to Misaki her eye shape is definitely a shoujo-style one; her eye is only accented at the top and she has a pretty obvious tarame. The lack of a bottom-accent is something I don't like. Her pupils also show her shoujo roots, though that may just be the art style at the time. One plus I guess is that she, in the loosest sense, wears glasses on occasion. Well, not so much glasses but her Deus visor does cover her eyes and I like the cute wing effects by her ears. It does look like a certain X-men's goggles, but since we see through them I'd count them as sunglasses.
Grade: B-

Face: Misaki has a pretty simple face that reminds me a lot of shows from the early 00's. That's not a minus though, I do like her small features (especially her nose) and she is pretty cute. Her eyes are somewhat spaced apart but I imagine that's just how the art style is. Misaki in particular is almost always smiling, with a bright expression, which is really cheerful.
Grade: B-

*Kirara shakes the camera.*

: TOPAZ! Stop stalling! And you, Misaki!

: Eeeks?

: Don't give him the opportunity to continue his blog! We've found out that his blogs can weaken you!

: EEEKS!

: EXACTLY! So if you don't want your precious Hikaru to lose again...

: R-Right Bishop is right! I can't allow Topaz to beat me! Go, Hikaru!

*Hikaru charges at the Wisconsin Gundam. It creaks a bit before getting punched.*

Oh no! I've made it too heavy!

: You'll never be able to stand up to my speed like that!

*Hikaru hits with multiple blows, using both punches and kicks. Topaz's Gundam is unable to block at first due to moving so stiff, but after getting used to the controls starts to block. Due to Hikaru being so lightweight, the damage isn't really building up too badly.*

Alright, I've got blocking down...

*The Wisconsin Gundam gets in a defensive position. Hikaru keeps up the attack, but Misaki notices something.*

: But your damage isn't going up!

That's because I'm far too bulky for you to damage right now. Even with your speed you're unable to pierce my defenses!

: Looks like Topaz has found a strategy that works for the stiff Wisconsin Gundam.

: There must be some way through his guard, keep it up Misaki!

: O-Of course!

This is a fine opportunity for me to continue the blog!



Body
Build: Unfortunately this is the area that Misaki won't do too hot. While her figure does fit her, she is short and easily confused for an elementary student (she's in middle school). This doesn't do well for my blog. She also thinks of herself as “unathletic” but it's more that she's really clumsy. Fortunately this aspect isn't too major in the grand scheme of things.
Grade: D

Breasts: While it does fit her, I do have to mention that Misaki is flat-chested.
Grade: D

Clothes: While Misaki does better here it's not that much of an improvement. She usually wears her school uniform for Eriol middle school section. It consists of a white sailor top though with a large flap buttoned up in front and a blue collar with a yellow stripe and a similar design around her wrists. She wears a very light blue turtleneck under it, and on bottom she has a white skirt with a blue one under it. She also wears blue thighhighs with very nice absolute territory. It is put off a bit by her shin-high boots, but they aren't too bad either. The uniform also has a blue armband with a crown on it as well as a medal-like crown decoration on her right chest. Overall it's impressive how unique this outfit is. It still isn't too stand-out, but describing it helped. Other cute outfits worth mentioning includes multiple kimonos, a one-piece swimsuit, and gym clothes including a blue buruma.
Grade: C+

*Topaz continues to defend against Hikaru's blows.*

: Topaz had better think of something fast!

Wait, why?

: Because the timer is going and, if you don't attack, you'll lose due to the early damage!

No one told me about a timer!

: Of course not! If we told you we wouldn't have the advantage anymore!

That's cheating!

: Hey, just because I was able to trick you into a tournament without explaining the rules doesn't mean I'm "cheating".

: I'm pretty sure that's an unfair advantage...

: Who cares! In about five minutes Misaki will be victorious!

: This might be one of the easiest battles I've been in! Er, sorry Topaz.

No offense taken. After all, I'm not going to be going down easy! Now, Wisconsin Gundam, CHANGE!

*The football-armor on the Wisconsin Gundam moves to the fists instead. It now looks like a boxer.*

: Wow, I'm surprised that Topaz was able to do such a complicated thing! Good thing as the lower Armor should make him faster due to losing the armor class penalty.

: What?

: Er, never mind. At least it doesn't wear a purple dress though...

: You're saying a lot of silly things I don't get.

: N-nothing, just little jokes here and there.

*Riri holds up her fist and sobs a bit while thinking (Curse you Topaz. You've made it difficult for me to relate to other girls with all your nerdy activities!).

: It's alright Hikaru. Now that he's taken off his armor we should be able to damage him more.

*Hikaru and Misaki nod to each other. Hikaru then charges and attempts to throw a punch. The Wisconsin Gundam not only blocks it but uses Hikaru's slight staggering to punch her in the side.*

: EEEKS! That hurt!

Eh?

: Oh? Did I not mention? Misaki is bound to Hikaru so each time you damage her you'll be harming an innocent teen girl.

You fiend!

: This sounds like a bannable offense! You can't have a Gundam Fighter in such a dangerous position, Misaki could get seriously injured!

: Fortunately Hikaru is NOT a Gundam and thus I don't have to listen to your dumb rules. Nyah!

: I-I'll continue! For Hikaru's sake!

Then I'll finish this in a single attack! LAMBEAU LEAP!

*The Wisconsin Gundam flies towards Hikaru as if going for a Jolt Haymaker. However, he misses as Hikaru leaps to avoid it, with the Gundam nearly falling off the field. It causes a small crater where Topaz's Gundam lands.*

Phew, that was a close one!

: Right, you'd better not suicide yourself!

I'd better use this minute to collect my thoughts... and continue the blog!

: Quick, use this opportunity to strike, Misaki!

: After a counter like that I'm going to hold out. If I get struck like that again, I-I might not be able to make it...



Mind
Personality: Misaki is a timid but sweet girl. She saves up her money and moves to Tokyo for school. Once there she discovers Angelic Layer which is a big competitive battle game. She joins to prove that small people can do big things and, despite losing her first battle goes on to be one of the best battlers. No doubt if this was these days people would complain about nerfing or share strategies for the “ultimate moveset” but that's getting off track. Misaki is easily excitable and may go into a cute chibi mode (though that's the manga in general). She also says “Naaaa!” as a catchphrase when excited or surprised; this is translated as “Eeeks” for some reason in the manga release but I'm not sure about the English dub. Misaki is also a good housekeeper, with both her aunt and female friend asking her to marry them after a good meal. Finally, I can't forget Misaki's analysis ability. She can use various abilities she's seen before, be they wrestling moves or even a foe's previous attack. It's like she's Mega Man or something! Unfortunately I'm not sure what Misaki is like in Tsubasa Chronicle, but I do know she's at least in it! As far as family goes, Misaki lives with her aunt and eventually she meets her mother (though in the anime she seems to be sickly while the manga she's more shy than anything).
Grade: B-

Libido: Misaki herself is a pure, innocent girl. However, he does have a lot of admirers, from both genders (this is a Clamp show, after all). First is the least likely guy for her, a single audience member in the crowd that says she loves her, but that could just mean he's a big fan. Both the beautiful Hatoko and Misaki's friend Tamayo are a yuri option, with Tamayo calling her “Misakichi”. Hiroko-Er, HAToko also is a rival for Misaki and seems to have an official image where she's nearly kissing the oblivious Misaki. Tamayo does ask her to marry her or date her, though the two remain friends that support each other. However, neither are the official “couple” with Misaki. Speaking of that, now we get to the complicated part. You see, Misaki and Tamayo's friend Kotaro (and also Hatoko's older brother) has a lot of chemistry with her and you can tell there's a lot of mutual feelings between them. However, later on we meet Ojiro, an older guy that falls for Misaki. I can't say too much as I don't remember him too well, but I think his relationship is gone in further in the anime. The complicated part is that Ojiro seems to win in the anime but Kotaro wins in the manga (Ojiro and Tamayo go out with them though). I don't know if there's anything special in the anime, but as far as the manga goes I do approve of Kotaro more. They seem to make a cute, easily flustered couple. Though Tamayo should teach Misaki some wrestling moves to use on him xD.

Age: Misaki is twelve it seems and is a first-year student at middle school. As said before she's also occasionally confused for an elementary student which doesn't effect her too bad.
Grade: C-

I know, I'm not very fair to girls like you. But that won't mean I'll go easy on you.. Quick, Shouryuuken!

*The Wisconsin Gundam makes a rising uppercut, hitting Hikaru directly and sending her flying back, damaged.*

: Owwww!

Hmm, I forgot that you'll take damage if I hurt you too much.

: D-don't worry. It'll be over for you soon. I've figured out your fighting style!

: You mean it ISN'T just make stuff as he goes?

: Right! But now I'll use your own attack against you. Go, Jolt Haymaker!

*Hikaru leaps at Topaz's mecha, but by leaning to the side he's able to avoid it. The sudden movement busts up his right foot though as sparks fly out from it. Hikaru however has it much worse as her Haymaker sends her off the edge, unable to recover. The Angel falls out of the battlefield.*

: I knew Topaz could do it! Let's all hear a round of applause for him!

*Crowd cheers.*

: *Slams the table.* WHAT?! I thought that Misaki would have won that!

: I'm sorry, but I care more about Hikaru than your vengeance. Especially after that HORRIBLE trick you've played on me! I don't want to do this anymore!

*Misaki steps down, leaving the arena to repair her angel.*

: That's right. If you pull something like that I'll have to disqualify you and make Topaz the champion by default.

: Oh, don't worry. That was only to make Topaz forfeit. The next girl will make up the loss easily...

*Kirara pushes a button and the next contestant, a white haired teenage girl, arrives.*

Y-You!

Magnificent girl: That's right...
