Addressing the controversy surrounding Free!

Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club or simply Free! is a new anime that has just recently aired this summer. It was simply a little animated short and generated enough to buzz to garner its own series. It should be noted that the series is the under the helm of Kyoto Animation a studio known for being heavy on the fan-service. So just makes this show so different you ask? Well, this particular anime has garnered plenty of controversy due its couple amounts of dear I say man-service. I personally am just sitting here laughing every time some idiot cries foul their favorite studio isn’t make something tailor-made for them for once.
Have you guy’s seen the state of the industry? There is plenty of male-oriented otaku pandering garbage on the market these days. So there really isn’t a reason why you guys so clamor all over this one particular show. This is even as blatant as many others when it even comes to fan-service. Man is the amount of hypocrisy is staggering.
Another one of their complaints with the show is that show they claim the male characters physiques are “unrealistic” which is hardly a valid complaint as these are character is has been swimming the entirety of their lives almost so of course they will have the bodies they have. This especially the case if said main characters practically lives revolve around the sport. So shut up you simple minded perverts you can still have your harems of moeblobs and unrealistically proportioned women and it is certain that there is plenty more of them on its way. Again, don’t start having a fit because something it tailor-made for you for once.
As for my opinion on Free!, it really doesn’t have much going for it save for the aforementioned fan-service and how gorgeous the animation is. It is not a bad show but it really isn’t anything special. Not really much different than what KyoAni is known for. I generally don’t care for fan-service really but if its your cup of tea then all the more power to ya. I am just here to call out on people’s, for the lack of better word, bullshit.
