Hair
Tabitha has short hair. Really short hair. Like it doesn’t even really go anywhere. Kind of bad. I do like how it frames her head at least, and while she has generic eye-framing bangs they look a bit better than usual I think. When she was younger her hair was longer, but sadly she’s backwards and her hair gets shorter as she grows, since as a small child it reached her waist and a few years before the plot starts it was shoulder length. Odd. Her hair is also light blue, not the worst color but not the best either. Sadly it leads to dorky “Durr she is teh rei” comments that just prove you have working eyes. Congrats, pal, you don’t need a seeing dog. At least she’s not blonde as this show has a massive blonde overpopulation.
Grade: C+

Blue eyes. Again. Furthermore this is one of these series where a large amount of the characters have blue eyes for no real reason. Even the Japanese lead and the girl of Japanese heritage. Even the freaking elves that live in a DESERT. Speaking of elves people need to stop to spreading those ridiculous 105/57/89 measurements for Tiffa, since they have no Japanese sources and clearly don’t fit at all with the style the show follows for measurements; something like 99/60/100 would be closer. To be fair the girl IS massively overplayed for her chest, boo that. At least as a character she’s not too bad, but I digress. Tabitha herself is a more tolerable eye example since her eyes match her hair and that’s always cool, and you could say they go with her ice powers. However, she has a great weapon that puts her over the rest of generic bland blue-eyed masses: she has GLASSES. Not just any kind, but RED, THICK glasses! They’re beautiful and make up for other flaws a bit. Oh, and while JC Staff is lazy and doesn’t draw the top part of her frames the novel illustrations do, mostly. Even better! Shame she might be only wearing them as part of her disguise, but oh well.

Body
Build
Tabitha has a fairly slender body. At 142 cm she’s the shortest girl in the series by a fair margin, but fits well in my ideal range. She weights 30.7 kg which is a bit light but not bad for her size, also oddly specific. With measurements of 68/49/67 she’s clearly a thin girl, even described in the novels as looking younger than she is. Don’t worry about her slightly bigger bust, since as I said way back in my Louise blog this show is backwards and has the slender girls as top-heavy and the curvy ones bottom-heavy, with the rather amusing result of one girl having a 95 cm ass and dwarfing about 98% of anime girls. Sad a lot of girls could beat that in bust size easily, but meh. Anyway, looking at her she does look pretty thin, as always it depends a bit on the artist. In some pics her legs do look kind of nice after all. She has a nice back and a lovely flat stomach. All in all she could be better but Tabitha is a great loli overall!

In-series it’s not shown that much because JC Staff was J-Cup Staff when handling the seasons where Tabitha shined. Official art thankfully saves the day as several images DO feature her bottom, and it actually looks nice in some of them! Plus she’s mostly shown wearing striped panties, always a boon.

Clothes
Like most anime girls Tabitha is most often seen in her school uniform. Since this show is about a wizardry school her uniform looks more magicky than usual, having a black cape on top of it with a yellow or golden brooch with a magical pentagon in it. Other than that it’s a typical white shirt with a black miniskirt deal, though Tabitha adds to it a deadly weapon: PANTYHOSE! White ones to be exact. In-series she doesn’t wear that many costumes, mostly some royal dresses and such, but there are some nice things like the wedding dress she has in the last season’s eyecatch. The third season’s OVA is the token swimsuit episode and she has three different ones, but the best by far is the first: a SCHOOL SWIMSUIT! Sadly because JC Staff was weak at the time she and the other girls only got to wear their superior one-pieces for like a minute and then spent the rest of the day in a bikini, lame. The last one is a tiny bikini made of shells, neat but not that great. Official art comes to the rescue, if one thing JC Staff does well is varied official art. Unlike TNK! We have things like a sailor uniform with white thighhighs, various night dresses, cute frilly waitress, maid, more bikinis because JC Staff tho the novels are guilty too, bunnygirl, cute penguin pajamas, and her strongest weapon of an almost naked apron, shame about her panties but still. Also, while not exactly clothes, she doesn’t use a regular small wand like the other characters but rather a large staff taller than she is. I always found that cool, so there you go.

Personality
Tabitha was born Charlotte blah blah, a princess of the country of Gallia, basically Magic-France. However her evil uncle Joseph, not sure if his last name starts with S and ends with Talin, killed her dad and tried to poison her but her mom drank the poison instead. Her mom went insane from it and she thought her daughter’s doll was really her daughter. Said doll is called, drumroll please, TABITHA! She used to be more cheerful but ever since that she understandably became sadder. Under her new nickname she was forced to work for said evil uncle and do many missions for him, which I think is the basis for her spin-off manga. See, sometimes good characters get spin-offs too, it’s not just Sena. She joined Tristein Academy and that’s where she met Saitou the lead guy. Thanks to him she ended getting back at her evil uncle and stuff, even when he pulled the twin stunt and a bunch of things. She even became queen in the anime!
Tabitha is a talented mage and became a Chevalier at age 15, is classified as a Triangle Mage and later a Square which I guess means she’s awesome and is an Elite student. Her specialty is Wind Magic, but she’s also good at Water magic and can use Ice magic as a result, and also Aqua Rake. As such her nickname is “Yukikaze” or Snow-Wind, dunno if this is a kind of blizzard or something because Internet isn’t helpful. It’s a pantsless ship at least. Despite her small physique she’s a trained assassin and thus is stronger than she looks, so says the talking sword. Despite her small body she’s a big eater which is awesome, though her favorite food is actually Hazelgrass Salad in spite of most people finding it bitter. Yes, Hazelgrass. She’s weak to ghosts and good at dice gambling, don’t expect these things to show up much in the anime and who knows if they even do in the novels either. Her familiar is a Wind Dragon named Sylphid, but it can become a busty girl as if we lacked of these. In that form she’s named Irukukwu and calls Tabitha Oneesama as she respects her a lot. As all girls in this month she’s a KDEG, she prefers to read alone in peace and won’t hesitate in blow away pests with her wind magic. She’s often compared to Yuki Nagato even, far more reasonable than “teh rei” from above. Like her she has problems socializing, at the beginning her only friends were Kirche and her familiar and only thanks to Saito she started opening up. She even smiles briefly at the end of the third anime season, but thankfully she remains her KDEG self afterwards only more assertive. All in all she’s a great adorable lolish KDEG, popular enough to be the most beloved non-Louise heroine!

Libido
Like most KDEGs, at first Tabitha doesn’t seem to be into this kind of stuff, a bit surprising given the rest of the main cast is at least a bit perverse. She does end developing feelings for Saito like most girls in this show, comparing him to the hero of a story she reads to her crazy mom, and like all girls she has occasional moments where she’s assertively going after him. The third season ends with her stealing Saito away, a far better and funnier way to end it than the awful S2 finale. But the best of these is a novel-only scene where Tabitha scolds Saito and even gives him a kick on the crotch so he admits he loves being dominated by a loli like REAL men do! Sadly that scene is only Saito’s dream, and of course JC Staff did not animate it because the concept of “not being into cows” is alien for them like colors for blind people, but still having Tabitha star in such a great scene is awesome.
Grade: B

Yuka Inokuchi is a VA you don’t see much around, but she gets pretty well Tabitha’s quiet voice, so no complaints.
