Anime Relations: Escha & Logy no Atelier: Tasogare no Sora no Renkinjutsushi
“Escha and Logy” is an anime adaptation of a fantasy game. As such, I automatically don't expect much, but I expected much more than the snore-fest that was the first episode. Cute Escha lives in a cute village where everyone agrees that Escha is cute. Escha is also a budding alchemist who can make apple tarts by alchemy. (Imagine what she could do if she had an oven!) She is joined by Logy, a tall semi-bishi boy from the city who is teamed up with Escha so that they can solve pressing problems in the village by alchemy, such as replacing a wooden gear in a windmill (instead of cutting another out of wood).

This first episode had so little action that it made the slowest episode of “Musashi” seem like the last episode of “Gurren Lagann” (but on an overdose of bennys) in comparison. The first episode could easily outperform “Aria” as a cure for the worst insomnia.

The thought that kept running through my mind while I struggled to keep awake was – suppose this show were given to a really batshit production team who would have the lead couple spend their time going at it like rabbits in heat rather than blushing at each other in slow motion. What a cynic's dream that would be.

In any event, my supposition will never happen, so I won't bother with more of Escha and Logy and my final rating is C-.
