Anime Girl Charm Evaluation: Mizuha Shiratori
Anime Relations: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Weeks have past, and still no one wants to evaluate girls from visual novels aside from myself. What, exactly, is not appealing of girls from visual novels?
Er, nevermind that. I just remembered that Emperor Topaz reviewed Shizune from Katawa Shoujo . . . and gave her a ridiculously high evaluation. No, don't go and bash him; he defended his review with flying colors. Then again, he hasn't played “Devil on the G-string.” yet. And before you ask, it's a reference to Air on the G-String, not what some of you are surely thinking. It was a truly mesmerizing experience, with many great characters. And today, I decided to evaluate this game's Token Kuudere girl. And now, I present to you, Mizuha Shiratori!

Hair: Mizuha has medium-length white hair. She likes to keep it in pigtails.
Okay, first of all, her hair is white. It shouldn't be that pale at such an early age! Also, that's kind of the opposite of what I normally look for in a hair color scheme. And, sometimes, I like pigtails. Sometimes, I think they look great . . .
. . . and her pigtails actually look pretty good! And considering how pale her skin is, the white in her hair works well. Her hair just barely makes the length requirement for me, but it's not quite stunning hair for me, either. 7/10.
Eyes: Mizuha sports dark purple eyes that are fairly large. They have a “tsurime” edge in some shots.
Normally, I don't find purple eyes attractive. Normally, large violet eyes look really weird to me. Not so with Mizuha. For whatever reason, her eyes are pretty. Heck, she might have the prettiest purple eyes I've ever seen anywhere! The shape and design of her eyes is great, and the coloring is well done. But, well, it's a fake iris color that isn't red, so . . . just go by the score. 8/10.
Face: She's got a young, flat, soft face like most anime-esque girls.
Lucky me, since I like such faces. Not much to say, other than very pretty. 9/10.
Physique: I can't find any official stats anywhere, so I'm just going off of the game's script. Mizuha is fairly short; I would estimate 5'1'', or 155 centimeters. Like most anime girls, she's very slender.
Thanks to the game's H scenes (how else could I evaluate this section?), I can tell you that she's not dangerously thin. Her legs are shaped just right. We don't get a shot of her behind, but I'll assume it's good enough. Her bosoms are, I would say slightly above-average in size, but not overly large, thankfully. She's got a flat tummy, but one not so flat, that you see her ribs in any way. Isn't anime magical in that regard? 9/10.
Fashion: Mizuha wears a few outfits aside from the school uniform. One of which is a button-up jacket that's white with gray highlights, a ribbon around the waist, fur-like shoulders, and white sleeves that cover her entire arms, including her hands. She also has a white business suit with a blue jacket underneath and a necklace. And lastly, a white button-up jacket, the kind that career women would likely wear.
The school uniform is nothing compared to her off-day clothes. This girl dresses like an actress from the 1950s! Okay, that's an exaggeration, but Mizuha has great tastes in clothes! All of them complement her features superbly well. If only she wasn't held back by her school uniform. 9/10.
Voice: Mizuha is played by Hyousei, at least that's what the internet tells me. She has a rather variable voice. In her own route, she sounds quite different from the “main” route. She doesn't have a really high-pitched voice, but depending on where you are in the plot, she will either have a somewhat deep, womanly voice, or a slightly high-pitched voice of a girl in her late teens as far as I can tell.
Now you might think, “Oh! A somewhat deep voice! That's one of your preferences!” But Mizuha doesn't sound as cool as Yuiko Kurugaya did. She just sounds like a lot of girls in their late teens or early twenties. She doesn't sound bad, but she could've had a better voice. Oh, before you ask, the score is based off when she doesn't speak in her high voice, because I like to be generous to anime girls. 7/10.
Personality: Mizuha is a classmate of the main character, Kyousuke Azai. While most of his classmates like Kyousuke, Mizuha does not. She avoids him, and speaks down to him during their few conversations. As I once said to Zettai, “Her face and speech radiate murderous intent.”
Overall, though? One of the weaker attempts I've seen at a “kuudere” girl. Mizuha is the least memorable of the heroines in this game. She's obviously not as fleshed-out as the protagonist and antagonist, and look at the other heroines: Naru is Genderflipped L, Kanon is Moe Incarnate, Tsubaki is What Nagisa Furukawa Should Have Been. While Mizuha is . . . an attempt to pull in the emotionless girl lover crowd? I don't know. I don't dislike her, but I feel that more could have been done with her. 12/20.
Miscellaneous: Mizuha doesn't have her own leitmotif, so . . . what else could I evaluate? I know! How about her route!?
Her own route isn't the best one in the game, but it's actually pretty good, all things considered. I can't go into too much detail, because you know I don't like to give away spoilers mindlessly, but it's good. Very good. 8/10. Man, I'm feeling generous.
And now my tally, out of a total of 90 points:
Hair: 7
Eyes: 8
Face: 9
Physique: 9
Fashion: 9
Voice: 7
Personality: 12
Miscellaneous: 8
Overall: 69/90. 76.6 % C
Despite being outwardly attractive to some degree, Mizuha wasn't one of my favorite characters in Devil on the G-String. This is the lowest score I've given yet.
Ya know, if Topaz is doing VN girls now, I see no reason to limit myself either. I feel like doing someone from Higurashi, or maybe Umineko. My favorite female character from Higurashi, Shion, would be a good pick. Or perhaps Ange would be better. “But, those both were originally VNs!” Don't tell that to the really ignorant anime fans out there. Now to decide who to evaluate next.
