Characters I RESPECT (I said respect, not like!)
*Click on the picture instead of trying to search them on the MAL search engine!*
- Edward Elric - Full Metal Alchemist
Edward Elric, he is shorter than me but much smarter. I acknowledge him for the fact that he attempted to defeat fate by performing human transmutation. Furthermore, I idolize him even more for the fact that after realizing his hubris of the failed attempt of human transmutation, he still attempts to find a way to restore Alphonse's body without having to break his human moral codes as much as possible. Edward may be physically small as a kid but he has got the minds and heads of an adult.
- Emiya Shirou - Fate Stay Night
Emiya Shirou is a victim of the 4th Holy Grail War. I share the same opinion as Archer that Emiya shirou is extremely naive. However, the truth that Emiya Kiritsugu provided that "one person must die in order to save another" is harsh and is hard to admit. Although he is fighting a vain battle against reality, I give recognition to him because he shows the mighty passion that it is not impossible to fight against harsh realities, make miracles and save everyone without losing one single life. It was always man's hope to defeat and manipulate fate and realities. To me, Emiya Shirou is a symbol of the hope that humankind possesses in order to relieve themselves against the laws of nature.
- Kyon - Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
In amidst of all the insanity occuring around him, I respect that he is able to retain his sanity and refrain the insane deity Suzumiya Haruhi from irrationally making the world transform.
- Okajima Rokuro - Black Lagoon
Okajima Rokuro is within the mercenary group Black Lagoon. Out of the four members, he is the most naive and the most peaceful one there. Unlike, Revy who suffered starvation and committed crimes during her childhood, Roku had a peaceful life. His past Japanese peaceful life and his current mercenary life allows him to understand that there is the black side of the world and the white side of the world. Because of his peaceful Japanese lifestyle he has, he is able to show hope and compassion to the world of outlaws. I have come to favour him only because out of all the characters I encountered in Black Lagoon, he is the only one possesses the greatest benevolence.
- Pain - Naruto Shippuuden
Pain's method of bringing the world to realization is merciless and cruel. However, people foolishly still do the same thing they want to avoid: they go to war, they kill, they steal; they still commit crimes. People try to avoid history from repeating itself and they have failed to do so thus far. I believe that Pain's method of bringing pain to people to bring a mutual understanding and an equal grounding is the most effective and efficient method to hammer the value of peace and order into people's minds. The politics can do their petty talk and take all their time to refrain themselves from action. But the world cannot wait for them to respond. The divine-like Pain, despite being incompassionate, he is justice, treating all people equally the same by inflicting pain on all of them to bring them to an equal footing and inflict compassion into them. A figure like him who can bring the real world to a realization could bring all the world to take some real actions.
I believe he may be a good example of the destructions that happened in the past.
Warning! People may become extremely offended by the example I have set!
His shinrai tensei technique is a good example of the 911. The Shinrai Tensei destruction delivered Pain's anger and embedded the cruelty he suffered into the ignorant Fire Villagers. In the same manner, the 911 delivered George Bush a fatal blow and compelled him to realize the actual suffering he has inflicted upon the Middle East. The indifferent Americans who had no or little idea about what the world was doing eventually became aware about what their life outside home was like.
I apologize for the people who have become offended about the 911 example I have used to compare it to Pain's Shinra Tensei technique. But I believe since it was the most recent event, it was the most comprehensible and empathetic example.
Anyway, of course, the destruction are wrong. I do acknowledge Pain's results but I don't particular like him for his violent methods.
- Saber/ Arturia Pendragon - Fate Stay Night
Like Emiya Shirou, I believe she has done much more than any other kings could have succeeded. Saber states that she failed her people. However, the fall of her kingdom was inevitable no matter who replaces her. Camelot would have lasted longer if there was indeed a more suitable candidate for the sword in the stone; but she still believes in the perfection of her kingdom. I respect her belief that always make her believe there is always room for improvement. I am even more awestruck by her determination of self-sacrifice to win the Holy Grail. On top of that I am bewildered by her vanity of this sacrifice she is willing to make despite the tragedies that she will face after obtaining to Holy Grail.
- Kallen Stadtfeld/ Kallen Kozuki - Code Geass
