My Ever-Growing List of Favourite Anime Music
Title says it all. Keep checking back to see this list do its ever-growing thing. It’s sorted alphabetically by anime, song title, and composer. I might occasionally add notes explaining my thoughts on various songs, but for now it’s just a straight up list of great music that blows me away and is listened to regularly. I've included non-score anime music too, just for the hell of it.

Canta Per Me is beautiful, however, it is performed by Yuriko Kaida, not Yuki Kajiura. And I'm surprised there isn't Hikari no Hashi wo Koete by Kei Ogura, first ending of LOGH, that is. I'd recommended you to try Macross music as well, there are some real masterpieces, but that is not surprise cause Macross is masterpiece itself. |

"Seirei no Moribito - Balsa Hashiru"Awesome. And Teidou no Balsa is its epic drama counterpart. Moribito's soundtrack is amazing in general, Kawai Kenji did an amazing job. Also, Nujabes indeed rocks. |

awesome list! I came back from Japan having paid something like $300 on Nujabes, Hyde Out Production and other J-Hip Hop CDs after hearing the Samurai Champloo tracks. I still saved a bundle compared to the imports and totally the best purchase I made over there. I wish I had more music in mind when I went there - I would have picked up more random CDs.

Heh, I used emule for about 5 years, so I've already seen AR's compilaiton efforts. I might check them out at a later date, purely to see if I can stumble onto hidden gems, but for now I like to just discover music through watching anime. Once my To-Watch list has more 'currently airing' anime than 'completed' then I'll go about finding random music online. Thanks for the reminder though, completely forgot about AR's albums. Although they really should have more, like, 20 songs an album. |

Nah, I'm miserable with math, so I don't think that really has anything to do with it. I also agree with you on the thing about difference between 87 and 88, and I think sites that use a 100 point scale are silly. The twenty point scale (up to 10 by .5s) just makes the most sense to me, becuase I like being able to show quantitatively as well as qualitatively roughly where a series sits. In general I cannot deal with not having halves, because so many things fall between two scores in my head. Especially when you're comparing a lot of stuff, it helps to keep track of your thoughts on a series, I find.

Ah, good spot with the Noir OP. OP's arent usually by the composers, right? I'll fix that now. There's quite a few great tunes on the Noir soundtracks, but I thought only a couple that deserved 5 stars. Maybe I'll add a few more later, depending on my ears.I love Naruto's mix of tribal chanting and electric guitars, I dont know if its been done much before Naruto but it came across as really unique and creative to me when I first heard it. I've seen that NHK anime listed in a few people's profiles and checked out the MAL page for it, it sounded interesting so I've already put it on my 'to watch' list. Good to know the music's cool too. The thing with ratings systems is that they're all ultimately trying to measure things in the same manner. It doesnt matter if its out of 10 or 100 to me, because I think a rating out of 5 covers the main differences of opinion. How much of a difference is there between giving a score of 87 and 88, I mean really? I've tried to work with the 10 star rating system by writing my own comments as you can see on my profile page. To me I'll always go with a rating of 5 in anything I consume. But I guess different systems work better for different people. I suck at maths by the way, so maybe that has something to do with it, lol. |

Whoops, I forgot to add: I actually like ratings out of ten including .5s, because I always have so much trouble wanting to differentiate between shows or games (I'm only remotely competent in anime and game reviewing) of the same score, and I almost never give the highest rating I use so it helps to have more space <_<.

I see. I'm going to have revisit some OSTs, but there are definitely a lot of nice choices here. Uninstall is constantly finding it's way into my playlists, especially >_>.The Toshiro Masuda songs from Naruto are form the OSTs, right? Not the OP and ED singles? There were a couple of tracks I really liked (although jesus they use them too often in the show) but I don't remember anything that could hang with a lot of the rest of that list in my opinion. I'm really glad to see Canta per Me on here, too X-D. This is slightly tangential, but I thought it was interesting you have Kopperia no Hitsugi credited to Kajiura Yuki, since ALI Project performed it. I suppose either is correct, it's just the first time I've seen her name in the author field for that song. Also, have you seen NHK ni Youkoso? The soundtrack in that is really good in general and there are a couple of standout tracks from Pearl Kyoudai. |

Someone commented!!! :DI'm still in the process of adding anime/songs, and yeah these are all anime that I've seen; not necessarily think high of all of them, but its all about the music. My 5 star rating (which unlike in that debate we were having, is completely subjective!) is like this: 5 = Classic/Must own 4 = Excellent 3 = Good 2 = Mediocre 1 = Crap Its nice and simple, I dont like ratings systems that go past 5, its too complex for its own good. There are a few songs here I hesitated to class as 5 star too, but I figure if I listen to them all the time because I like them so much, then the logical conclusion must be a 5. Bonnie Pink's 'Last Kiss' isnt amazing objectively, but I guess I just have a thing for her or something, lol. |

I don't think there are any anime on that list I haven't seen at least some of. Unless you meant that there are anime on the list that you haven't seen. >_> I'd have to go check the titles of some of these songs because I don't remember all the specific ones, but I see a lot of songs on here I think very highly of, as well. There's plenty on here I would hesitate to rate five stars, but I generally don't do music ratings because I find it a lot harder to define general rating criteria.
