Top 25 Anime ED's (10-1)
See #25-21.
See #20-11.
#10 “Don’t Say Lazy” – K-ON - moe be damned!! These girls rocked just as hard as any guys on this song. The magical MTV inspired animation stood up perfectly well against awesome song! *devil fingers!*
#9 “Dango Daikozoku” – Clannad: I'm sure a few of these songs could be used as lullabies, but this is the one song that I'm sure IS a lullaby. I can't help it & I don't know why. But I cry everytime I see the bunny waving bye.
#8 “Ride on Shooting Star” – FLCL: the animation continues Gainax's trend of merging real life footage with animation. And it works very well, using the stop motion filming to make the bike move around. I also enjoyed seeing Haruka exact righteous fury on that stubborn bike! She's the poster child for crazy=HOT!
#7 “Trust You” – Mobile Suit Gundam 00: I maintain the opinion that the newer Gundam series have some of the best soundtracks in all of anime. And I use this song as an example. There is a lot of soul in this song. It also continues a theme that started with the original Gundam SEED. The theme of showing wrecked mobile suits to signify an end to the fighting.
#6 “I Will” – Fullmetal Alchemist: the animation is nice, I like the way they framed it. Its hard to watch this & see Maes Hughes though.
#5 “Yoake Umearekuku Shoujo” – Shakugan no Shana: one of the biggest surprises about the Shana was the ending. Wow! Not much goes on as far as animation goes. But I love the song. As far as I'm concerned, they should have kept that opening for all of S1 & S2. It's sung by Yoko Takahashi & I've been a fan of her work ever since.
#4 “Fukai Mori” – InuYasha: Ok! You'll be happy to know that this is the last time you will see InuYasha on this list. The 2nd ending theme and the best the show has to offer. The ending has some clips of characters from the show so far. But the parts that really made this my favorite theme for a LONG time are the music is I always thought was strong and memorable and seeing Sesshoumaru in it. Man-crush!? Hell no! He's just two scoops of awesome! (begins lifting weights) Man-crush... ridiculous.
#3 “River” – Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: this was my 2nd favorite ending theme. River had impact on me because it debuted after a brutal arc where Kira & Athrun, best friends themselves, had both lost close friends of their own in combat with each other. It was pretty sad, but I still love this song to this day. "River" is the best theme song Gundam has EVER had. High praise from someone who's seen a lot of the metaseries.
#2 “YOU” – Samurai Champloo: Champloo, when it wants to, has GORGEOUS animation. But when it comes to this ending theme, its all about the music. Anime fan or not, all my friends have enjoyed this song. I'm not afraid to play this in my car with the windows down, or use this for someone's ringtone on my phone. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Buy the soundtrack, if anything, just for this song. The soundtrack is great, but this is even better. My 3rd favorite ending theme. So what knocked this from #1?
#1 “Vanilla Salt” – Toradora!: finally! Simple, but fully animated. Simple, but colorful. Simple, but addictive. One of the few anime endings I've never skipped. To be honest, for every episode I watched I probably rewound & played this theme at least 3 times! I love seeing the girls walking under their umbrellas in their various styles. I love seeing the cute little palm top tiger running around, and how it reacts very differently to Minori and Ami. I LOVE the song! God I love this song! I was a bitter man when they replaced this opening. This song represents Toradora! And should probably be played in the background whenever someone talks about it. I love it that damn much! An amazing theme to an amazing show!

Im surprised at your no 1. I like that song and it fit really well Im not sure where it would rank on my list though.Samurai Champloo, this is almsot as represented as Gundam is. I think I will have to see this. I never considered it before for some reason just the title sounded retarded and turned me off of watching it. Gundam.. You sure liek alot of music from that show. I am not sure I would like it and it seems like there are 4000 Gundam series out there. I guess eventually I will give it a try but I dont even know where to begin. Shana! Had so many good songs, Its hard to pick. Thats a good one but there was another EN from the series I liked more than this one. I refuse to acknowledge anymore of GAINAX fuckery. DANGO!!! So cute, but it annoys me a bit now. I think I have heard it too much. My thoughts on Dont Say Lazy are similar to Tehnos. I thought this was the best song until I heard Fuwa Fuwa Time. But the whole soundtrack was pretty special. I want more K-ON! Was does crappy anime get a second season and not this!? |

Don't Say Lazy was pretty cool, and those guitars really KILLED. Although I liked the INS song Fuwa Fuwa Time more in the end.TwT Dango Daikazoku. Oh my God, I turn into a puddle of tears every time I hear that song. The gentle piano keys being tapped at the start, as though a child was playing it (why wasn't this the ED for ~After Story~ as well!? It'd have fit perfectly!), and then that lullaby-like essence you mentioned. And the animation that went along with it was perfect too. You saw the dango being a huge family with one another, and that was the theme of the anime: Tomoya making a family with the people he meets along the way. Perfect song in my books. Ride on Shooting Sutaa, more like ;) I love those guitars and drums that kick off the song. "You" was amazing. It's sexy, it's melancholy and it's catchy. It reminds me of R&B you don't quite hear any more. I pop on You when it's raining sometimes and just relax. :P I see my comment about Vanilla Salt is now null and void. You have excellent taste sir--Hocchan's song was the greatest! And I don't want to admit it, but every time she sings "Amai BANIRA ni SORUTO kakeru yo ni..." ("Like putting salt into sweet vanilla...") I feel like crying. Dear God, and if the lyrics don't PERFECTLY fit everything that this series is about. Man, Toradora really messed with your feelings. I don't think I was that emotionally invested in an anime and its characters since Clannad. I shouldn't say "since" though, since they were airing at the same time... but still. |
