I decided to make a blog entry to explain a bit about my anime/manga lists:

My scoring is fairly simple. 10 for superb shows (in nearly every way), 1 for utter shit. Atm I only have two 1's on my list, and a small batch of 10's. I can't say I'm really strict in my scores, but I do rate on par with overall quality/enjoyment (hentai usually getting lower scores because of obvious reasons). That isn't to say I don't watch hentai, but that it usually will be subjected to a standard score of 3/10 unless it does something to separate itself from the rest by either implementing humor or an attempt of a plot. This is simply because if trying to rate hentai properly <95% of the time it will range from Bad to Very Bad so I don't even bother. If it impresses me enough it can possibly break free from that standard 3/10 score.

I'm a very open minded viewer willing to try anything. I don't really drop shows either with the exception of the single show currently found in the dropped section of my list. My favorite Genre (in general) is probably slice of life, but as I said above I'm willing to try anything whatsoever.

A few other minor things about my list are:

I've only added stuff I've seen after joining MAL. The reason I choose to do this is because when I add shows I've seen years ago I can't properly rate them. This way the scores on my list are scores I've made after recently seeing a series opposed to trying to rate some vague recollection in my mind. Also by doing this I'm able to see my progress from a specific date, and not randomly listed shows that I've seen throughout my life.

Ratings are subject to change. I rate a show directly after viewing it, but sometimes I go back and 'tweek' scores later on after I've given myself some time to think it over. Also since I'm willing to re-watch pretty much anything I rate 6+ there is always the possibility that I'll have a different viewpoint on the series the second/third time around.

I have a large portion on my list either on Hard drive or DVD. Not that this actually matters, but it helps to explain why I use the "Have on HDD" and "Own on DVD" tags. Since MAL lists all the shows I've watched or Plan to watch I find it an easy way to keep track of my collection. Other tags I use are ">.>" meaning I haven't been able to find a copy of this series for download yet and "NYR/S" (Not yet released/subbed) meaning that this series either hasn't been released or hasn't been fansubbed (fully) yet.

I'm pretty much willing (and plan) to buy anything I rate 7+ on my list in Retail DVD. Currently I don't own much (Retail) anime, but as my expenses allow my collection is growing. Yes, I buy series after (and only after) viewing them once. I don't plan on giving up money for any random series meaning I'll only buy what I "Deem worthy", and to find out if something is worth my money, I watch it.

Pretty much everything that I've written above also applies to my manga list except I don't bother with tagging it regardless if I have it on my HDD or own the retail versions because I don't read enough manga to bother with said methods to begin with. I'll generally only read manga if it explains something the anime didn't, finishes off the story, gives more info on the aftermath of the anime version or there is no anime version and I feel like trying something new.

Lastly I don't bother rating Music Videos'. This is Myanimelist. I'll add the music video if I've seen it, but I refuse to rate simple music videos' on the same scale as regular anime so I leave the scoring for anything in the genre 'Music' blank.

So there you have it; a small(?) rundown on how my list actually works since chances are I use it a bit differently then most people here on MAL.
