It Started With A Kiss: Second Review
Anime Relations: Itazura na Kiss
Unwillingly, I clicked out of the Youtube.com pop-up that displayed the tenth episode of It Started With A Kiss (I use booklvr1256's versions; She also posts the strictly plot-oriented Taiwanese drama; Devil Beside You) yesterday after my mother demanded it was time for me to get off the computer. Forgive me for small plot spoilers, but the main focus of the drama has shifted to the aftermath of Yuan Xiang Qin and Jiang Zhi Shu unexpected "kiss", which she devotes her attention to wondering if Zhi Shu likes her instead of the previous feelings of how to stop him from hating her. Zhi Shu's thoughts and feelings are still unclear, but lets slip to the watchers a portion of his feelings toward Xiang Qin when he gives up any chance of admission to the prestigious Ta Dai (clearly the equivalent of Tokyo University, the aim of Naoki Irie in Itazura Na Kiss manga) after helping her out when she faints following him to the test center.
Plot details aside, these next five episodes of It Started With A Kiss have not dropped in quality or enjoyment from the first five episodes. While it is clearly evident that I admire Ariel Lin's stellar performance, Joe Cheng's performance greatly improved as the standoffish, emotionless Zhi Shu and it has become a real treat opening the Youtube window to full screen only to analyze every detail of his emotion displayed throughout his character.
I also must state that the anime, Itazura Na Kiss, is my favorite shoujo anime of all time, leaving me to a bias of the drama. Whether it is a bias of favoritism or excessive criticism, I have not decided quite yet, but it hasn't changed the ranking of the drama in the slightest from my review. Second review rating: Episodes 6-10- 10/10
