Anime Relations: Yuru Yuri
Does anyone else have these end-of-series-depressions.. when a show that could (and should!) go on forever is good enough to make you eagerly follow week after week suddenly ends? And this time it's not only Usagi Drop, Nichijou, and to a lesser extent Steins;Gate (not an endless kind of show, so it told its story and then a reasonably satisfying ending!), but also.. YuruYuri! Oh teh painz.

Who woulda thought before the season that one of those seemingly misc-schoolgirl-lovecom-series would be this awesome. Certainly not I, so initially I was positively surprised, very much so. But not only that, YuruYuri kept being interesting over the course of 12 episodes. Add to that the catchiest OP theme -did anyone watching this NOT catch themselves humming yuriyura ra ra ra yuruyuri randomly at some point?- of the season and an awesome repeating catchphrase -I usually watched the "Akariiiiin! Yuruyuri hajimaru yo!" opener like 5-10 times per episode- and bam, instant-hit!

I very much disagree with the current MAL "recommendations" to YuruYuri: K-ON, Kanamemo, Ichigo Mashimaro, Minami-Ke. The core of how YuriYuri is awesome was more similar to Seitokai Yakuindomo.. where every character had a reasonably funny and sometimes way overdrawn characteristic. To a lesser extend also like Seitokai no Ichizon. Both of which I still don't really want to stuff into the "similar" corner, but the humor was sort of like that. Of course we can't forget the slight "yuri" theme, but the name already suggests that :D

Anyway, all good things must come to an end.. and so did YuruYuri. Yes I'm sad, but listening to YuriYura ra rara YuruYuri DaiJiken might drag me over to the upcoming Fall season, which will be filled with a different kind of awesomeness.

9/10, because I can't get the opening song out of my head. And I don't really want to, either. Yu-ru Yu-ra..ra.ra...ra Yuru Yuri~
