Monogatari Series: Second Season
Brilliant! Probably the most interesting Monogatari season to date! They made many references and built upon subtle clues from the original seasons that just fascinated me. There was a ton of dialogue as well as character development that made me question who was the real protagonist of the story. The ending was a masterpiece and completely unexpected. This season was long 26 episodes, but made me crave more nonetheless. I cannot wait for more Monogatari content to be released and I hope that this season will eventually come down to a price I can afford :D

Highly recommend you watch this. If you never jumped into the Monogatari series before now is the time to begin. Even if you dislike the first few seasons your opinion will change after watching this season.

Everything about this series was done right. The story was so well thought through and all the characters progressed and changed! The ending was a bit trolly, but I will let it slide since anime of this quality are RARE. Words cannot describe how good the art with its subliminal messages and themes were with masterful blending of the scene with the soundtrack. I pray everyday for a season 2 or english translated novels...watch this~

Katanagatari
The episodes were very long but the story and art were intriguing. There was so much tragedy in the story and at the last episode I had wished I never picked up Katanagatari...but I am glad I did. Despite the sadness and feelings of the story being a blur, I am happy I watched it. It was a touching story with an unique art. It was a story that could make you laugh and cry. It was about the end of an era, and how the impact of human emotion on history and the flow of time. I wish some of the characters were more likable but I won't complain about it too much. Please take the time out of your schedule to watch this~

Beautiful story but damn I dont know what to think of the ending. The art is a bit dated but okay, the soundtrack is one of the best I've heard. Baccano!
Imagine a tv show made with Alfred Hitchcock and Quentin Tarantino working together. That is essentially what Baccano is. Every minute of Baccano is a minute I sat at the edge of my seat. The music, art, and characters are all perfect. The story is complex but in the end all ties together brilliantly. This level and depth of story is something I haven't seen in a long while. A lot of the violence was over the top and some of the characters a bit too insane..however I highly recommend watching Baccano even if you're a bit queezy! One of the only anime I bought without hesitation~

Probably higher rated than it should be, but I am not going to nitpick this series. Been following the Light Novels and the show for many years now. It ended well and that's all I really care about. If you made it this far into the series, you might as well see how it ends. The characters all had amazing growth and the story telling is good. I will miss this series.

I love the manga for this. It reminds me a lot of my undergrad days but taken to the extreme. The story is amazing and many memes will be born from this series. The art in the manga is way better than this adaptation but that's probably the only major point of contention that I have. I understand that they can't adapt everything and that's okay. This series is super fun and I hope more people watch it~

3-gatsu no Lion 2nd Season
Just like the previous season this show continued with its exceptional character and world building. The show isn't particularly about shougi, bur rather a SoL/drama with the MC being a young shougi pro. Art style is unique but it is eye catching and its all hand drawn, not cgi so there is a lot to appreciate. The music, especially the OSTs were on point. I wasn't a fan of either the OP or the EDs throughout the season, but they weren't terrible by any means. I wish this season focused on some of the family dynamics that were heavily shown in the first season, but other than that I have no complaints about the story progression. The side characters got a lot of exposition, and we saw many minor characters flushed out as well. Honestly this is a must watch if you saw the first season. I highly recommend~

I really enjoy Overlord. I've read the light novels, I try my best purchasing the merch., and follow all the anime updates. If you are even reading this you've probably read or watched some earlier Overlord content. In that case you know if you like it or not. I only take points off because a lot of content which really should have been shown was cut and instead was simply told or referenced. This season also had a lot of "advertisement" for the first season. The animation quality wasn't top notch either...

Kidou Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans
I was never really into the Gundam franchise which I know understand is a mistake. Hopping onto Iron Blooded Orphans as a first Gundam show may be a bit of a mistake because from what I understand this show is a bit of a revolution to general Gundam ideas. This show is definitely mature and espouses ideology that isn't always palatable. This show makes a point of emphasizing that people don't win because they do the right thing, or fight honorably. Giving a heroic speech and being a virtuous shuonen hero doesn't mean you wont lose and die. The only thing that guarantees victory is strength. That said, I believe the show sacrifices a lot in the way of character development and world building to stress these ideological points. None of the characters really change, even when faced with death of comrades or new environments where it would make sense to change their ways even a bit. Instead they grow more zealous to their dogma as the series progresses. The show has smooth and vivid animation. The color scheme is on the darker side to reflect the nature of the show, but all in all the animation is 10/10. The soundtrack is also great with satisfying OSTs, OPs and EDs (I'm still raising my flag). Overall to Gundam newcomers and veterans I would definitely recommend watching this show.

Boku dake ga Inai Machi
This show was an attention grabber for sure! It's a suspense/mystery and I don't know what I can say about the show that won't spoil it? The art is first class and so is the soundtrack. The characters are all well developed (albeit they generally don't act their ages - are 11 year olds really that analytic??). I had a huge issue with some of the illogical actions undertaken by characters just to cause tension/advance the story (running away from a crime scene you could easily prove innocence in, attempting murder for no reason, etc). The end of the mystery was well done and the show ended on a feel good note. Overall I really enjoyed this show and I hope you do too!

Classroom☆Crisis
Classroom Crisis was definitely the Golden Egg of the Summer 2015 season, which is ironic because the Summer 2015 season was the season of great anime adaptations and this was an anime original plot. Classroom Crisis originally came off as some bland SOL set in space with a predictable plot. However it really shines mid-way through and becomes an intelligently woven corporate drama involving politics, corruption, assassination, betrayal, romance, plot twists, and more. I think this anime would've gotten higher ratings and attracted more viewership if it had started with more excitement. The art is above average with smooth animation, easily distinguishable characters, and gorgeous backgrounds & landscapes. I really liked the Soundtrack of Classroom Crisis. Both the OP and ED are catchy and well scripted, I downloaded both as soon as they were available. The OSTs generally fit the mood but don't really leave me wanting more like the OP and ED. Character development is a big factor in this anime. The MC reveals himself as a cold-hearted foe to the other protagonists but slowly (and honestly a bit predictably) grows attached to them. Most of the character development in Classroom Crisis is really organic and feels natural. The characters are all pretty likable (except Yuji) and act in ways befitting their personalities. There really isn't a lot of inconsistency with the characters and that is definitely appealing to me. Overall I really enjoyed Classroom Crisis. The plot is great with well designed and scripted characters, visually appealing art style, and above average sound. I highly recommend you watch this and bear with the boredom of the first few episodes. It is definitely worth the watch~

One Punch Man
Highly entertaining, well animated, superb voice animation and decent battle music. Really the only thing that keeps this show from being a 10 was its somewhat repetitive nature that started getting stale as well as the OSTs which I found to be unappealing to listen to. I highly recommend watching this, it really earned its score as a hilarious super-hero parody.

Overlord
Another great adaptation for the Summer 2015 Season. Overlord follows the story of a gamer who is teleported to a fantasy world as his in-game character. It sounds like a lot of other game/battle anime however in Overlord the MC is a Skeletal Deathlord and instead of the MC being a teenager he is a working adult (salaryman). The main appeal of this show is its story and attention to detail. Despite being a 1-cour season Overlord follows its source LN very closely and covers all the major points while remaining interesting. Of course an anime adaptation is never as detailed as a LN but this is probably one of the best adaptations in terms of getting all the important details and bringing the feel from the LN to a visual medium. One of the aspects that draws people to the story is that it has a lot of character and environment development that is clear and consistent. The characters themselves all have pretty unique personalities and designs. The main MC is also really likable, basically being a 30 year old man in the body of a Skeletal Overlord. And seeing the perspective of the monsters that we generally fight in movies/games is a cool twist. The art isn't anything too spectacular. It has pretty character designs/settings to look at with smooth and vibrant action scenes. The graphic content from the LN (mainly the torture/gore/brutality) was definitely toned down in the anime but not in a way that really impeded the experience (there was still a lot of graphic content). The sound quality is another big selling point. While I didn't have any feelings either way for the OP and ED most people really like both of them. The ambient music and OSTs were wonderful and really amplified the mood of the scenes they were used in. When it comes to enjoyment I would say that this is probably one of my most enjoyed series (I am a religious follower of the LN). The characters and setting just flow together so well and the dialogue is really well written. One thing to note is that the MC and his crew are super OP. While it is alluded to that there are other strong people in the world he is teleported to, they really aren't shown and fight indirectly. Also if you are sick of the game world anime (SAO, LogHorizon, NGNL, etc) you probably wont enjoy this anime. However I highly recommend watching this anime you won't regret it!~~

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku
They've done it again. Another season with more of the same addicting personalities and story we have come to love from S1. The character interactions focused more on the group's dynamics this time and paralleled their struggles against other groups. There was much more emotion and tension between our three main protagonists. The final episode ended on a cliff-hanger, but it basically set the stage for what looks like a final showdown in season 3. Yes, the gears are now in motion for the full blown romantic war over Hachiman that all the otaku's have yearned for since the first episode in season 1. This season we see Hachiman open up more and look less like Batman than he did in S1. Haruno also plays a much larger role in catalyzing change for the group. While she still comes off as an antagonist, her role in helping the group progress is noted. We learn more about the side characters and they all play a role in either stirring the tension or relaxing it between our protagonists. Overall, compared to how they were introduced in S1, the whole cast as grown and developed substantially. The art changed dramatically with the new studio but its definitely an improvement over the first season. Its much smoother, albeit the characters all look older now. The music is also top notch, I kind of liked the ED and OP from season 1 more than these but I won't fuss too much over it. The theme for this season again focuses on the complexity of human relationships. This time it centers on the key to prosperous development and improvement as being to be true to yourself and genuine with those you care about. I should note that there is a light novel that accompanies this series. And while the anime can't possibly hope to convey all the detail present in the light novel, it does its damn best in doing so. However reading the LN is definitely worth the effort. That being said I genuinely recommend you watch this (after watching S1 of course) you won't regret it and look forward to S3! ~~

SYD strikes again! Sexual innuendo and outrageous situations continue with this season! Really fun anime and a definite leader for comedy. There is somewhat of an underlying plot but it isn't really important. This season they address the concerns of there not being enough screen time for the side characters which is nice. The anime closely follows the manga (but in random order to the chapters). Give this show a watch and look out for the next SYD installment!

This series played out so much differently than the description of the show implied it would. I remember thinking that Ringo's idol past would be the main focus of the show, or at least play a large part in the show. However her past was merely glanced over, only being referenced a few times. The show was still really solid and hilarious. Really hilarious, the gag's were so over the top in some cases and some scenes will forever be burned into my skull. In my opinion this was the hidden "golden egg" for the winter 2014 season. I recommend this to anybody with time to spare because you will not regret watching it.

Psycho-Pass
I finally get around to watching this series and boy am I glad I did. To sum this up I guess I could say this is a super dark version of Minority Report. However while the story's are very similar they play our differently. In Minority Report humanity's free will was the focus of the movie. whereas in Psycho-Pass it really plays on rule of law as well as vengeance. Now before you, dear reader, go off and watch this series know that Psycho-Pass is incredibly violent, gory and overall gruesome. This scale of violence is rarely seen in serious media anymore, but it serves a purpose in the themes of the show and for the main antagonist to prove his points. Speaking of which, the main antagonist is one of the most well done antagonists I've seen in a long time. For much of the show I sympathized with his cause. It became less of his cause being evil but rather the ways he went about doing them being wrong. It became more of a question "do the ends justify the means?" type question. Of course while our antagonist seems to do evil things for pointless reasons or simply for fun, there is almost always a method for his madness. This series is not black and white. The antagonist actually fights for what we would generally see as a noble cause. Restoring free will to the people of Japan, whereas the protagonists knowingly fight for an authoritarian regime for the sake of personal vengeance. There is a lot left to the audience to decide on whats right and wrong. The entire story is just gray. Character development is huge in this series. All the characters evolve in their own ways and it is noticeable. Certain characters who were unbearable in episode 1 had become characters the audience could understand more and appreciate. The animation was top notch and will retain its value for decades to come. Same with the audio. All in all a top notch anime. The only reason I struggle to give this anime a perfect 10 is because I felt that the character histories were never really flushed out. Most of the characters never really get a good background done so it hard to know where they are coming from. The "instinct" that allows the antagonists and protagonists to predict the actions and thoughts of one another is sometimes way too complex to be reasonable. At points it even comes off as comical. Also how quickly most of the characters are able to bond is astounding (for example 2 episodes in and this fresh naive inspector suddenly has a deep bond with a hardened enforcer? really?). I wish they had explained more on how the psycho-pass system works as well. There were a lot of small details that they just gloss over which makes it hard for me to say this is a perfect anime. Especially after the final episode and I still have loads of unanswered questions. Thankfully there is a second season so I can look forwards to that.

TL;DR?: Very gory and violent anime that plays on the differences between right and wrong. Lots of themes that make you think and character development that you can really appreciate. Splendid villain. Highly recommend you watch, unless you can't stomach gore~

The same excitement and story telling that made Steins;Gate popular has returned! They found more ways to weave the (already pretty complex) story in on itself and I applaud them for that. Durarara!!
Durarara!! Is incredibly similar to it Baccano, which isn't surprising since they both spawned from the mind of Ryohgo Narita. However, just like Baccano, Durarara!! has an incredibly gripping story, fun characters, addictive soundtrack, and decent animation. Really this anime deserves the praise it gets. Durarara!! uses a lot of cliches, but doesn't just stick to generic cliches and rather evolves them from there. Cliches like "secret double life of a student" , "mad scientist" , "sadistic villain" etc. are all prevalent in Durarara!! but they never remain the same. Durarara!!'s plot is similar to Baccano in that it is a mashup of different stories that tie together over time. I won't spoil too much but overall the story makes sense and is entertaining. The music is all really good. Both OPs and EDs as well as the OSTs are all catchy and add to the atmosphere. The animation is where Durarara!! really lacks. It's really only average, maybe below average. Not very eye-catching but then again animation is not what the focus of Durarara!! is. Overall I would highly recommend watching this anime. Very very fun anime. The series was technically episodic and followed a pre-designed plot sequence, but each episode employed lots of slapstick humor. A lot of the humor tied in to other episodes and plot points throughout the series however. The characters were enjoyable and the ending was predictable but still cute and fun, just like the rest of the series. This isn't a serious anime and was more or less made for younger people so keep that in mind when watching. Utawarerumono
Utawarerumono is an anime series based on a harem visual novel. However, this is a harem that anybody can enjoy because this anime adaptation really focuses more on the characters and story rather than the romance. The story of Utawarerumono can be thought of as simplistic. Our MC Hakuoro is saved by a village girl named Eruruu but doesn't have memories. He leads a peaceful life but is thrown into conflict and must act. As he gets thrown into battles he accumulates power, introducing new characters. The story follows this formula of battles with progressively stronger villains, brief periods of peace followed by more battles. As the story progresses Hakuoro discovers more and more of his past. I think that for the majority of episodes it is coherent and straight-forward, however I think they made the ending unclear. In the visual novel how all the timelines and characters tie together is made crystal clear, I feel that the anime adaption does a poor job filling in all the details (essentially leaving viewers who didn't play the VN to assume how it fits together). The animation is actually pretty good for 2006 particularly for the second cour. The second half must have gotten a budget hike or something because the animation, especially in fight scenes, is vastly improved from the first cour. There is a lot of recycled animation and sub-par CGI usage, but neither detract from the visuals - recycled animation isn't easy to notice and the CGI usage is minimal. The sound is kind of up in the air. I really liked both the OP and ED and most of the ambient music was well suited. However I don't think any of it was particularly memorable and sometimes it just wasn't noticeable. The characters are a strong point for Utawarerumono. Even the girls in Hakuoro's harem play important roles in the story. There is a pretty large cast so not every character gets proper development, but the MC and the earliest characters show strong development throughout the series. The character designs are generally enjoyable and well done. Overall I would say I really enjoyed this anime. I wish it had more character development or atleast slowed down to flush out the finer details. I also think, despite being based on a VN, there was surprisingly little romance in this series (almost none actually). I think with just a few more episodes more chraracter development, world exposition, and romance could've easily made this a 10/10. Regardless I highly recommend you watch this, and play the VN~

Really good story telling. I think the pacing can sometimes be off (going from funny random moment to sudden sad/emotional one in quick succession). The character development is subtle but substantial. The art is crisp and detailed, but not anything extraordinary. EP & OP aren't anything particularly fascinating. Only 1 or two memorable OSTs. Basically, you are watching this if you really enjoyed the first season. I think the manga is more fulfilling since it doesn't have to cut out as much.

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season
Continuation from S1. Honestly, a lot of the mystery and magic around the witches is revealed in this season and it kinda ruined it for me. The animation and music are great, of course, but the story feels a bit lacking. They cut too much out of the LNs in order to make this anime. So the MC comes off either too whiny or too stoic without subtext. I also feel Subaru lets the witches off too easily, he is too focused on his current situation to be reasonably upset that the witches put him in this situation in the first place. Watch if you aren't a LN reader.

Overlord III
Again another faithful adaptation of the Overlord series. Madhouse really knows how to get the main points of the story while trimming a lot of the fat. The points of the novels covered were mostly conveyed during this season. It is a bit of a shame that this was only 1 cour, but what to do. The anime probably does a great job selling the novels since people crave more details on the thought processes and background characters that don't get screen time. Of course, people also want to know more about the story. I took a point off from the other seasons because the CGI this season was just an abomination. While neither of the other two seasons had amazing animations/art this season took lows to a new depth. It is obvious that Madhouse had a super low budget or wanted to get the message across that they probably won't do a 4th season. The animation and art were also a bit sketch at times. If you're reading this, you've probably watched seasons 1 and 2, so watching this is mandatory.

Just a fun ecchi harem. This adapts the manga very faithfully and at the moment of writing this, has only covered a small portion of the manga. Don't expect much depth from this story, or much seriousness in general. Manga readers are 3 seasons away in terms of adapted materials and are only just getting some details on Yuuna's situation. The art is good, so is the animation. The soundtrack in general is just okay. I think if you're looking for a comedy and are okay with an ecchi anime, you'll like this one~

Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii
I read the manga for a while before watching this so I knew what to expect. Still its refreshing watching a mature romance. No silly misunderstandings, relationships progress naturally, people communicate and cooperate, etc. Sure it doesn't have the same "drama" that all the school-age romances have, but its just relaxing to watch. I take points away from the soundtrack and OSTs. I either didn't like them or they were just not noticeable. The animation wasn't amazing, but then again this series doesn't really need super fluid animation to tell a slice of life romance between office workers. The artwork was good, although I thought the faces were kind of disproportionate to the bodies...

Overall highly recommended. A mature romance between office otakus. Not a super complex story but simple fluff.

If you liked Gantz you will like this. Not a lot to say other that its a good story. It gets a bit unbelievable during the end but thats mainly because our antagonist doesn't get as flushed out as he is in the source material. The art and animation is top notch. So is the OSTs and overall ambience. Personally I enjoyed this a lot. There is a lot of blood and death so if you are a queezy person maybe avoid this...

Isekai Shokudou
If you are someone who needs immediate action, or any action, then this show is not for you. Isekai Shokudou is really an episodic slice of life show, which features a restaurant from earth spawning in random locations over a fantasy world. While the show carries itself like an anthology, there is an overarching main timeline. The show is really light hearted, but surprisingly entertaining. There isn't really a MC in this anime. Perhaps the earthling Chef, but we never really learn his name. There are two otherworlder waitresses who are important characters for the story. Their backgrounds are extrapolated more than other characters, but the show doesn't go too in-depth into it. I think the main attractions of Isekai Shokudou is its world building, animation, and soundtrack. Honestly the whole atmosphere of the show is warm, watching this during the winter was great. As for world building, you learn a lot about the world and the various species that inhabit it. You see how the restaurant has affected the world, and brought together wildly different characters from a variety of backgrounds. From elves, to human nobles, to tribal lizardmen, to beastman gladiators, etc. All joined together in pursuit of delicious meals.
I highly recommend this show~

Amaama to Inazuma
Very down to earth and refreshing anime to watch. I suppose because I have been busy and stressed lately, taking the time out of my day to watch this anime really cheered my up. I can understand how this show could be a bit repetitive (since it follows the same basic formula of some problem involving Tsumugi followed by Inazuma-sensei helpin gher get throuhg it and develop, and finally Kotori cooking something for them to end the episode on a positive note. Despite the simplicity of the story it still is sweet, and I am kind of a sucker for these kind of stories. I would go ahead and watch this. There isn't much comedy or plot complexity, but it is still a refreshing show. The art isn't anything unique, and the animation is solid. The music and OSTs also aren't particularly special or anything above average. If you are ever feeling down or are just really caught up with life, this might be a breath of fresh air.

Mob Psycho 100
As many people will say, Mob Psycho is really really similar to One Punch Man. It isn't actually a cut and copy though. The MCs are both strong dead-pan faced dudes who aren't particular intelligent. However, Mob's story is really that of a middleschooler who is just trying to find out what he wants from his life. He doesn't really know if he just wants to impress the girl of his dreams, of if he should be a good student, an esper slaying demons etc. Saitama has his own goals in life and knows what he wants to do. The dilemmas they face as individuals are really different. However the overall feel is very similar. Mob Psycho was a really distinct art style. I didn't really care for it but at least it isnt straight up unwatchable/horribly cgi intensive (looking at you Bubuki Buranki). The animation is smooth, and I don't have any particular complaints over it. Overall the show is comedic and if you enjoyed OPM, you'll definitely enjoy this.

Hai to Gensou no Grimgar
Hai to Gensou no Grimgar is a realistic take on the "Transported to a game-world" trope. The whole premise of this show is the growth of individual characters and their teamwork in order to survive. The attention to detail (for the characters only) is deep in this show and truly pleasant. I believe the show was limited by the length of the season and so was rushed (especially near the end). However the show also started off at a snail's pace in order to set the tone (and so the first few episodes were kind of a snore). The show also seems to ignore the surrounding environment and so the audience really never learns much about the world they are transported to. The artwork is fantastic and the soundtracks/osts are well done. I would definitely recommend watching this to anybody interested in the genre.

Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen
The long awaited sequel to the 2006 Hit Utawarerumono. Honestly I rated Itsuwari no Kamen this high because I am a huge fan of the series. I've played the VN for the first game and followed this season's development for a while. I am clearly biased. This show lacks a lot of the depth and character development of the first series. Despite being 2 cour there is a surprising lack of character development. This is in staunch contrast to the first season where all the main cast characters get pretty good exposure. Besides Haku (MC) and Kuon (Female MC) the rest of the crew gets surprisingly little depth added. What's more surprising is the lack of development inspite of the lack of action. Yes, at least half of the season is SOL filler with little pertinence to the rest of the story and season resolution. The start of the show and the season resolution were fantastic however. The overall presentation of the world was also top-notch. The art and animation, as well as the soundtracks (OSTs, OPs, EDs, etc) were again all top quality. If I was being honest with myself this show would probably get a 6, but again I'm just horribly biased to this series. This is a must watch if you have seen the first season, and if you havent watch the first and then watch this!

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!
Truly a super fun anime! KonoSuba fuses the "transported to a new world" and "transported to a video game" settings but does it so fabulously! Really fun anime, great characters and dialogue. While the show feels episodic there actually is a continuous story line. The soundtrack isn't the greatest but doesn't detract from the experience. I personally did not like the art , but most people seemed to disagree with my assessment. Having read the LN I can say that they followed the source material well but really outdid my expectations on representing it. There is a lot of fan-service but not gratuitously so. Give it a watch, you'll have a laugh.

Schwarzesmarken
Definitely above generic mecha/harem anime and the setting is super cool! I never had any exposure to the Muv-Luv series before (apparently it has an occult following) but I can't say I was swept off my feet - simultaneously I can't say I wasn't disappointed either. Schwarzesmarken definitely takes bold steps with their character development and they don't censor/mellow down events in the series. The show also sidetracks the invading aliens in favor of political and ideological struggles. The characters are one of the strong aspects of the anime. They are all likable an each has their own goals and motivations. Theodore's (MC) internal struggle is also gripping and combined with the plot makes me want to watch the next episode. The art and soundtrack are somewhat mediocre and some of the characters are just there to fill the ranks. There was a lot of forced tension at the end (and illogical outcomes) but overall a pretty well done story!

Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai
Another great adaptation for the Summer 2015 season. Shimoneta follows the members of a group called SOX in their struggle against the government's strict regulations on sexuality and vulgarity. How can I adequately describe this anime? Over-the-top, lewd beyond belief, and some times nonsensical.... and I enjoyed every minute of it. It really was a hilarious and entertaining anime. It is almost like a fusion of Yuushibu and SYD. The plot is incredibly fun and never seems to slow down or get boring. It really just tries to be light-hearted fun and it accomplishes just that. The art is overall good, with smooth animation, unique character designs, great attention to detail and is generally colorful. The sound is also pretty good. The OP wasn't too great for me personally but I loved the ED. Very catchy and fun. The OSTs and FX were spectacular and really fit the mood. The VAs also get special praise for giving their characters such convincing dialogue. Keeping in mind if you don't like fanservice then you will NOT like this anime. If lewd jokes aren't your thing, STAY AWAY. However if you are fine with it then give this anime a shot. Despite the overtly sexual themes and story, Shimoneta is well animated, written and has great audio. Go ahead and watch this anime~

Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri
Gate is basically the realistic version of Outbreak Company. What would happen if fantasy and real worlds met? Clearly there wouldn't be parity and realistically the 'guns, germs and steel' of the real world would dominate any fantasy. Gate provides just that. Massive armies of cavalry and orcs are mowed down by attack helicopters and mortar fire. Other than that, there isn't a lot to say other than it being a harem around an otaku SDF captain in a fantasy world. I was a bit disappointed that the anime toned down the gore and violence prevalent in the manga but otherwise the art and attention to detail was great. Along with many other anime adaptations this Summer 2015 season the show was well paced and kept most of the content from its source. The art in general isn't fabulous but it is nice to look at and doesn't impede the viewing experience. The sound was a let down for me, both the OP and ED weren't the best and the OSTs weren't especially noticeable. Since I enjoyed the manga so much, of course I also enjoyed the anime adaptation. Gate is already slated for a second cour in Jan 2016, deservingly so. It is worth mentioning that Gate is widely criticized as right wing propaganda (aimed at younger audiences) within Japan for only highlighting the JSDF as paragons of virtue and liberal sections as bleeding heart anti-nationals. This is especially so because at the time of airing the Japanese government has begun a series of widely unpopular legislation aimed at "normalizing" the JSDF from a pacifist self-defense force to a common standing army with offensive capabilities. While this has no affect on the quality of the anime I still feel it is worth looking into as a clash between anime culture and mainstream politics/global events. Anyways I strongly recommend watching this, it's very entertaining~

Rokka no Yuusha
Yet another well paced & detailed adaptation. The Summer 2015 season truly is the season of great adaptations. Rokka no Yuusha is an action/adventure/mystery anime about 6 heroes beginning their quest to defeat the Demon God. However 7 heroes appear and they must determine who the fake is. The whole story is incredibly detailed and the final mystery takes into account loads of small hints that are scattered throughout the 12 episodes. The story is top notch, hands down one of the best this season. The characters are all pretty original and enjoyable. Their designs are great too, with an overall Mayan/South American theme running throughout the anime. The sound is okay, both the ED and OP aren't anything too memorable but the OSTs were pleasant and added to the ambiance. The art is what I had the biggest problem with. There were so many frames and moments where the art was just subpar and unpleasant. It was great where it mattered with smooth combat, unique/cool character designs, and beautiful environments. The OPs also changed from the Heroes fighting demons to the Heroes fighting each other when they were trying to solve the mystery. It was a nice touch and there are a lot of similar small things that I appreciate. However whenever something wasn't in focus or during random frames in discussions between characters, the quality tended to slip substantially. I can accept this because the studio apparently worked with a shoe-string budget, but it will likely have an adverse affect on sales. This is a shame because this show really needs a second season. The LN is a great read and the plot is really well written. I highly recommend watching this anime, you really won't regret it~

Plastic Memories
Plastic memories takes place in a future where android/robots and humans coexist. These androids are incredibly human-like and experience human emotions and reactions. The androids only live for about 9 years and 4 months before they have to be recovered and recycled/disposed of. The story of Plastic memories revolves mainly around Tsukasa, a new employee to an android recovery unit, and Isla an android. The plot itself isn't anything spectacular, I'd actually say its sub-par since there are many interactions and details that are introduced and are seemingly given importance only to never be further expanded on. The main focus on the story is the romantic development between Isla and Tsukasa, with each episode Tsuakasa learning more about Isla and developing their relationship. Most the the side characters play a supporting role and do not develop or change much at all. Their interaction with the Isla and Tsukasa is fundamental to their progression however. One detail that irked me was no background on Tsukasa. Despite being one of the main protagonists we learn surprisingly little on his background. The art is great, with top notch usage of detailed facial expressions to really reflect the emotions of the characters. The soundtrack is also great, I even downloaded the OP. Overall Plastic Memories is definitely worth the time to watch. It's absolutely a tear jerker but it isn't a deeply emotional story like Clannad or Angel Beats. Plastic Memories is more of a light-hearted romantic drama about a young love and how our memories live on in others. 8/10 highly recommended~

Kekkai Sensen
Kekkai Sesen is a very unique anime. As many people probably tell you it definitely compares to Baccano and Durarara!!. But to me personally it doesn't hold up as well when compared to those two. Kekkai Sensen really manages to be a fun show with a light-hearted episodic nature. Its weird to say light-hearted when there is a ton of blood and violence but its true. The show is at heart a comedy. This is why I think it falls short compared to Baccano and Durarara!!. Those shows had a strong central plot which was surrounded by light-hearted episodic content. Kekkai Sensen has a really weak main plot with strong episodic content. This would be okay but the show really tries to push its central story line when instead its way more fun watching our protagonists random antics or their (usually hilarious) fights with minor villains. I would guess the main problem with Kekkai Sensen is that there is way too much going on at any given time. Look at any given panel in an episode and there is a plethora of activity - in the focus and in the background. There are also a ton of characters who don't always get proper exposition and tend to fill minor roles. The animation is pretty good but feels lacking when compared to the rest of the Summer 2015 season. Of course there is a ton of stuff happening all the time and trying to catch everything adds to the entertainment value. I think the content over beauty isn't necessarily bad. The sound is probably one of the strongest points for Kekkai Sensen. The OP and ED are really catchy and fun. The OSTs and ambient music really add to the mood whether it be serious or comedic. Overall enjoyment was high (although waiting 3 additional months for final episode was really disappointing). I would recommend watching Kekkai Sensen. This anime is really fun~

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
Gekkan Shoujo Nozai-kun is actually a pretty amazing show when you think about it. It is a rom-com that managed to combine both the shoujo and shounen genres and appeal to a massive audience. Additionally it did this without fan-service! Really this show gives the impression that it will be some generic shoujo love story but it isn't. I would argue that Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun is a satire of the stereotypical shoujo genre(given away by the way the show represents Nozaki's shoujo manga). The core of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun is a shoujo-shounen hybrid anime that is humorous, well paced with a very well developed main and supporting cast. The show doesn't rely on misunderstandings to delay the romance like most others (there are a few in the show but they aren't obnoxious). Rather the show seems to try allowing natural romantic development between characters. The humor is totally unpredictable and is mainly driven by the male MC Nozaki and his lack of common sense. Nozaki is an enigma - all you really know about his motivations is that he wants to make his manga better. So he observes the world around him, interacts and even manipulates situations to get inspiration for himself. Sakura Chiyo is the main female MC and isn't the most interesting female lead but at the same time propels the story forward and is likable enough. Her story is simple, follow the boy she likes and hope that one day he catches on to her feelings. The side characters are really well developed. They are all more than generic background characters. Each has their own relationships with each other and the MC, their own goals and feelings. They are leagues ahead of many side characters in other shows and are interesting enough that I would actually watch a show dedicated to any of them. The art and animation are okay, it isn't particularly amazing but then again this isn't some high-budget action adventure show. At the very least I can say that the art is pleasing to see. The Soundtrack was a big negative for me. Neither the OP nor the ED were pleasant and were promptly skipped. The OSTs either weren't noticeable or were distracting. Overall the soundtrack really needed improvement.
Overall this show was relaxing and fun, and can be watched by anybody. I highly recommend it!

Barakamon
I'm generally not a fan of the slice of life genre but Barakamon is a truly great story. Barakamon's strengths do not lie in its animation or soundtrack. Actually a lot of its production value is why I rated an 8 instead of a 10. The strengths of the Barakamon lie in its pacing, character development and character interactions. Barakamon isn't a particularly serious anime but it definitely has perfect contrast between comedic and heart-warming moments. I should state here that despite having an adult MC there is no romance at alll. The main character Handa Seishuu is a young but genius calligrapher who goes to a rural island trying to change himself and find a style to truly call his own. He meets Naru, a 7 year old girl, as well as m a lot of other children and rural island folk. Barakamon follos Handa, Naru and the villager's daily antics while Handa hones his skills and develops a new insight on the world around him as well as himself. An important theme in Barakamon is the importance of adults learning from children just as children learn from adults. Learning to see things from a new perspective is a theme that ties together with that. One thing that Barakamon did not do, which I hope they do if a second season is ever realized, is to give more depth to the side characters and Naru. We learn so little about characters besides Handa and it is quite disappointing. Overall though a really good slice of life that I binged on a cold day. I recommend watching Barakamon whole-heartedly. This is slice-of-life done right.

Amagi Brilliant Park
I wish I could give this anime an 8.5/10 because it really does deserve more than an 8. Unfortunately my heart cant give it a 9. Amagi Brilliant Park is really entertaining if you take it at face value. The strength of this show doesn't really lay in its plot, rather the character interactions that are used to propel the plot. The characters are very diverse, ranging from eccentric and bizarre to incredibly serious. Watching them interact is truly fun and the main catch to this show. The main MC is very well done. He fits his description in every way. The main female MCs are basically stereotypes but they (and the male MC) resolve their problems in incredibly mature fashions. Sento is also one of the best drawn female leads Ive seen in a while, her voice acting is superb too. The overarching plot of get 500,000 people is important but most of the details are really sparse. We never truly know much about the situation, in fact we don't even know who the villain really is til the very end and even then he and the resolution are kind of half-assed. Even with most of the characters, their backgrounds aren't really told or explained at all. We know little about any of the characters except for the bits of information they let slip when drinking or whatnot. Additionally the whole premise of a 16 year old running a theme park is a bit ludicrous, but this show also encompasses a magic world so I'll let it slide.
Anyways if you are looking for an entertaining anime with rich and comedic character interactions then you've come to the right place. The animation and music are really high quality. The plot that is explained is really basic & might leave you wanting for details, but baring that allows for the character interactions that make the show great.

8.5/10 would watch again, highly recommended~

Hanamonogatari
Probably the weakest of the Monogatari series I've seen to date. In typical Monogatari fashion the art was top notch and the sound was more than satisfying however this series just felt lacking. Perhaps it was the short length, but I think it was more the introduction of characters who served little purpose but seemed relevant, and resolutions to non-problems. Hanamonogatari was originally supposed to be another arc in the Monogatari Series Second Season but was left out due to excessive length. This also explains the huge amount of stress placed upon Kaiki even though he was supposed to be relegated to a minor support role. This story felt as though it revolved around him more than Kanbaru or her rival. I think in the future the events of Hanamonogatari will have some influence on later installments but that is further down the road. A must watch if you are following the Monogatari series, if you want to get into the series do NOT start with this as none of it will make any sense. ~

No Game No Life
No Game No Life focuses on two NEET siblings Sora and Shiro who are transported to a fantasy land known as Disboard. Disboard is a land where all conflict is resolved through games, everything from petty money to entire countries can be wagered and won through games. No Game No Life follows the siblings on their quest to unite the land and its fantastical creatures in order to challenge the God of Disboard.
The plot itself isn't anything too complex, just the siblings conquering the world. There is an ample amount of fanservice, though it is not the focus of the series. The plot is pretty playful, not serious at all. Lots of comedy and fun character interactions which drive the plot forward. The characters are well portrayed and simple. While Sora and Shiro don't develop much, the cast around them do. Sora himself is definitely one of the more charismatic and enjoyable characters. I would liken him to a perverted Kanyie from Amagi Brilliant Park.
The art really isn't anything groundbreaking but it is good with bright and vivid colors, crisp animation, and detailed character expressions. The OP and ED of No Game No Life is top notch and very memorable. The OSTs were kind of hit and miss with most of the ambient music being enjoyable with the battle music being a bit more bland.
Overall No Game No Life is an enjoyable and simple anime with fun characters, bright animation, and addicting music. You should give it a go~

Outbreak Company
Outbraek company is basically the "less serious" version of the popular LN/Manga series "Gate- So the JSDF Fought There". The basic premise between the two is fundamentally the same except Gate is very much so an adult series, and while Outbreak Company has adult situations is relatively tame in comparison. Outbreak Company focuses more on the Otaku culture rather than the clash between fantasy and modern societies. Fun anime with enough humor to last the season. There wasn't anything particularly special about the anime, the art was decent and the music wasn't anything phenomenal..but the heartwarming moments between characters but the situations and references to other anime/manga were great.

A surprisingly fulfilling SoL. This anime isn't as generic as most high school girls anime tend to be. Love Lab adds to much more to the genre; male main characters that are complex even if they are just supporting characters, family life and life outside of school and most importantly a balanced focus on romance, comedy and bonds of friendship. The art isn't amazing but the character designs are pleasant. The OSTs are catchy though I didn't much care for the ED or OP. The conflict resolution was a bit cliche but this is a SoL. Overall not a bad show, read the manga if you enjoyed this season~

Hataraku Maou-sama!
A very fun series about characters from a seemingly fantasy land being thrown into our modern world and having to adapt. The characters all have their griefs and there seems to be a serious dark backstory but by and large it is ignored in favor of comedy. There are serious moments and lots of action, but it definitely takes the back burner likely to be extrapolated on in another season. The art is crisp and the soundtrack is pleasant to the ear. Overall not a bad anime, I reccommend watching this~

Very fun anime with an interesting cast. I will be honest and say upfront I hated the main female protagonist. Moreso I hated the ending since the best girl clearly lost to a mentally disabled moe-blob. I have a lot of mixed feelings about this one. This takes a more serious tone to the comedic nature of its prequel. This season goes full on siscon mode, moreso than the first one, and it sorta bothers me. The ending was suuupppper controversial and a hotly debated topic even today. The art and music of this anime is splendiferous! Very calm animation with soothing background music. The story itself is very calming and heartwarming. A tale about a an ordinary and rather lackluster man raising a small child. Honestly thats all there is to it. It does lack action but is just pleasant viewing. I definitely recommend watching this anime (just dont read the light novel ending because it personally wasn't my cup of tea). Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai.
Definitely a well made show. It really tugged at my heart strings but I found it a bit lacking. The series is short, just 11 episodes which is pretty short for a 1 cour season. The shows characters are pretty believable and you really either love them or hate them. The main reason I gave this an 8 instead of a 9 or 10 was because it felt really lacking. A lot of the characters don't really reveal their trauma or develop a lot until the last minute. One of the characters, Poppo hints at him feeling some guilt but really doesn't express it until the last minute and it feels lacking and unrelated to everyone else. There isn't a lot of closure for the "Super Peace Busters". It's also a bit irritating because the final scene seems to drag on and on when instead they could have wrapped it up and given better closure to the rest of the cast. A lot of my grievances with the show are covered in the movie which gives a lot more exposure to the group and closes off the story. I just wish it could have been shown in the season instead...

The music is fantastic. One of the best OPs and memorable ED. The OSTs were good, adding a lot to the ambience of the show. The artwork was great and the animation kept pace. Overall I highly recommend watching Anohana, just be sure to watch the movie afterwards.

I'm not a fan of the Haruhi series but this was actually quite good. The animation was refined and the story had substance to it! Unlike the other Haruhi seasons this movie focused purely on Kyon and his life and motivations. It wasn't just Kyon being Haruhi's bitch and complaining about having to exert effort. This film is actually more unpredictable than the previous series and does a much better job of tying events in the previous two seasons together. Overall though the movie shows a deeper meaning (in my head anyway) about a boy who struggles with wanting to grow up to a normal world or stay a child and believe in a supernatural one. The entire movie seems more like a lesson on growing up and accepting the future more than anything else. This movie also gave much more character depth to the side characters than the previous seasons ever did. Overall I recommend watching this if you have watched the previous two seasons~

Aho Girl
The writers of Aho Girl had something against common sense. Aho Girl really tries to be a random and unpredictable as possible. I think the show doesn't go far enough in that regards. Aho Girl is peppered with stupidity, cheesy joks, puns and pop culture references. But unlike other shows that go all the way with their ridiculousness, Aho Girl still tries to keep a somewhat normal setting? I'm not sure but something about the show feels lack. The characters are funny, we have straightman Akutsu, as well as the 'Aho Girl' Yoshiko as our main characters. There are other characters with varying levels of importance like Yoshiko's friend, Sayaka - who is overconscientious about her breasts, desperate housewife Yoshiko's mom, and the class president that is looking to get a piece of Akuru. Aho Girl really is like a child screaming for attention, and frankly it gets it. The show gets chuckles, and has moments when its endearing and charming. The art isn't too bad, the soundtrack compliments the situations well. The animation isn't exactly first class, but it fits the theme of the show well. Honestly if you enjoyed D-Frag, Aho Girl is a less competent version of that show. if you haven't seen D-Frag I would watch that instead~

Nejimaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyou no Alderamin
To be honest I expected more from this anime, and I only rated it this high because I've heard it will eventually get better in subsequent series. Alderamin takes place in a fantasy universe where a team of young Imperial cadets led by Ikta Solork fight against the Republic of Kiorka. Besides the fact that the protagonists might be fighting on the stereotypical "villain" empire, the overall setting isn't really unique. Despite it being somewhat generic, Alderamin is pretty tight lipped out the universe and there isn't a lot of exposition on the setting. Our MC Ikta is a lazy philanderer who is forced into becoming a strategist/general for the empire. Each of his comrades has a particular skill which he uses during his battles. Alderamin starts off horribly slow but picks up towards the end. The battles usually have meaning beyond showcasing Ikta's brilliance. The cast, besides Yatori, is pretty underdeveloped. Yatori despite originally feeling generic is actually pretty well written. Her relationship with Ikta is what really makes her likable. While it is a bit difficult to say that she is totally in love with him, she clearly looks up to Ikta despite the fact the he isn't physically strong nor is he really honor bound. Yatori isn't an annoying tsundere nor does she believe she is superior to Ikta in anyway. She acts as you would expect the daughter or a warrior clan to behave. Beyond that the art style is slightly different form the usual art most studios use now-a-days, but it isn't particularly amazing. The animation can be a bit dodgy at times but is mostly smooth. The OSTs, ED, and OP are not memorable in any way, but do not detract from the experience. Overall I would say this anime was just a cut above generic with some intelligent tactics and strong male and female leads. I expect more from this series which apparently becomes something much more amazing.

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu
Boy oh boy this was definitely the most hyped show of the year. When this show first started I was overseas in a small village without a strong internet connection. You can imagine my surprise when I landed back in the states 4 months later and saw the entire anime community collectively creaming their pants to this show. Depending on who you ask Re:Zero will either be the best show ever created, or the worst pile of garbage to ever disgrace anime. To be honest the plot really wasn't that amazing to me. The major gimmick used is the MC's ability to respawn after dying. So while the series is 2 cour, it really doesn't feel like much happens because so many episodes tackle the same problem. However this gives way to an advantage (honestly the major advantage this show has) and that is its characters and supporting cast. The cast is really strong for this show. All characters show strong development and independent personalities. The MC isn't actually amazing in any way. He isn't strong or particularly intelligent, moreover he tends to be quite self-serving and arrogant. Throughout his deaths he matures as a character and learns compromise and teamwork. The main female leads aren't pushovers either. Rem and Emilia were both strong contenders (team Rem FTW) who acted more realistically towards Subaru compared to typical girls in shounen anime. Emilia actually had goals and dreams of her own, and expectations of herself compared to what Subaru wanted from her. And even though Rem was kind of "waifu bait" she knew where to draw the line in regards to any future she had with Subaru. The supporting cast is equally strong, each with their own ideals, goals, and visions for the future. Nobody helps Subaru just because his cause is just, or because they particularly like him - all the cast acts realistically with motivations of profit or some political advancement. The art style is colorful and pretty, the animation is crisp and well done. The OSTs and music in general are okay, I particularly like the OP but otherwise the soundtracks were sorta average. Overall I would recommend watching this just for the general hype it caused, but be warned that it isn't anything revolutionary~

Owarimonogatari
I'll keep this brief. If you are interested in this anime then you have probably watched a lot of Monogatari so far. You basically have to continue watching this. The art and music are of great quality, as expected of the Monogatari series thus far. While talking endlessly is common during the Monogatari series this was painfully obvious during Owarimonogatari. There were too many episodes of some character just talking about some uninteresting plot point that just seemed to drag on forever. Most of the love of the Monogatari series comes from the satisfaction of watching our protagonist Arararagi wander around and doing anything else but something serious. There was also a big focus on a secondary character, Sodachi, who was again really uninteresting and predictable. Overall a low point in the series for me but I expect this is just Shaft laying a foundation for a satisfying conclusion.

Dimension W
Dimension W is an original action adventure anime that is made pretty well. The show does a great job constructing the setting and explaining the type of world the show takes place in. There are many characters in this show, and not all of them are nearly as important as they seem to be. The MC Mabuchi Kyoma, comes off as a cold-hearted badass, and he is, but he definitely reveals more of his past (especially due to how directly pertinent it is to his present conundrums). The other MC is Kyoma's sidekick Mira, who is a loveable and warm robot forcing Kyouma to cough up his history. It's hard to really say much about this anime. The main villain's goals were sort of lousy and his methods were flimsy. Additionally there are a lot of side stories which seem to start developing at the beginning but abruptly conclude at the end. A lot about Mira and the more obvious villains are left alone for another season perhaps. Overall the show is entertaining and would encourage you to give it a try.

Another adaptation for the Summer 2015 season. Gakkou Gurashi really is what it advertises itself to be - Cute Girls doing Cute things in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Honestly it sounds good and when reading the manga it is cool. However when watching the anime I found it got really repetitive. It felt as though every episode and adventure was just Moe-blob slice of life followed by demented and gory tragedy. The whole plot is seemingly propelled by the mental conditions of the girls in the school but it doesn't really innovate from there. As many other viewers point out it gets quite predictable and stale as the series went on. Honestly there isn't much else to say besides that. The art in general was good, with fluid animation, moe character designs, great graphic detail. etc. The sound wasn't anything too spectacular but neither was it detracting in anyway. Overall enjoyment is questionable. It certainly wasn't bad but honestly other than the occasional shock and mild twist it was predictable. Just like the first season the art and music are just fine. The story completes itself although I can't say it is very satisfying. The ending is tremendously abrupt. Aldnoah.Zero
This anime was such a disappointment for me. I had heard fabulous things about Aldnoah.Zero last year. The story takes place in an alternate reality where mankind discovers a gateway to Mars, on the moon. The settlers who go to Mars discover ancient technology of a long gone super society. They promptly declare independence and eventually wage all out war with Earth. Our story begins 15 years after the last major war ended, in 1999, when the Martian (Versian) princess makes a peace trip to Earth only to be assassinated, sparking another major war. Only she wasn't assassinated and the whole conflict is manufactured by the bloodthirsty Knights of Vers. The Princess must go on an epic adventure, with a bunch of high-school soldiers, to reveal that she is alive and end the war. Sounds awesome right? Well it starts off as amazing, with a great first episode and presentation of the story. I find it quickly gets stale and even mediocre fast. The main MC is a guy named Inaho who literally shows no emotions whatsoever. Not one, ever. He only explains his feelings and actions when prompted to by his sister or the Princess. Inaho is stoic to the point where his close friend can die right in front of him and he won't bat an eyelid. He is always distant and seemingly apathetic to everything and everyone. This makes me really not like him at all. His motivations are also really obscure. If he was true to his portrayal as a cold calculating individual why would he go through such great lengths to defeat opponents? Later near the end of the story its understandable since he supposedly has affection for the princess, but at the beginning? You think he would prioritize his own survival. There are a bunch of other characters, like Inaho's sister who serves the purpose of explaining Inaho or his development or something. His friends and The Princess with her loli maid played the part in reminding Inaho of his humanity I guess? The Vers Knights (who all have the shittiest motivations ever) and finally the two most interesting characters Slaide and Lt Marito. Both of these characters play a role in contrasting Inaho and show backstory to the war in different perspectives. Slaide is pretty likeable and its hard not to sympathize with him when he goes through great lengths for the princess (only to be shit on by literally everyone). Lt Marito suffers from severe PTSD and is kind of a mentor/advisor to everyone. I interpreted Marito as what Inaho would be if he fails his quest. Both of these characters are way more personable than Inaho in my opinion. It was easy to see their human qualities. They are what I will remember about the cast years from now. The overall quality of the story is mediocre. The plot progression follows the generic formula of some OP Martian robot appearing, slaughtering a bunch of people, and then getting defeated in some creative/intelligent way by Inaho. The final episode was really well done though. You can really see what they were aiming for based on the first and last episodes, it just suffered the same problems that Code Geass R2 had, not knowing what to do in-between. Overall the soundtrack and animation are top notch. The animation especially is really high quality. The premise of the story is great, so is the beginning and end. However the main meat of the story is mediocre. The characters are also mostly mediocre with a few exceptions. The enjoyment factor is there so I would recommend giving this anime a watch. It won't impress like Code Geass S1 but it won't disappoint so much like Valvrave~

"One Week Friends" isn't a bad anime, it is just an incredibly slow one. I have been reading the manga for while now and didn't realize the slow pace it must have reflected. The voice acting is great, the art is above average, of course I love the plot and themes in the story..its just that for me it seems to drag on way too long. Indeed nothing in this story compels it to hurry up, rather it moves lackadaisically at its own rate. If I were to describe it it would be a long and warm summers day that just seems to drag on endlessly. Perhaps a Tuesday in June. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei
There isn't a lot to say about this anime. Tatsuya (MC) is probably the most OP character in history. His nickname is literally Mahesvara, a Sanskrit word referencing the God Siva - god of power and destruction. This anime is very dialogue heavy, not on the scale of a Monogatari series, but not following the conversations will leave you lost. This anime also has a softcore incestuous relationship between the two protagonist siblings. Its very softcore but if incest in any form turns you off then this is your warning. The art is fine, above average I would say. The music is not the best however. OPs and EDs were not to my liking. The battle music wasn't noticeable either. Very few of the side characters felt important or played significant roles. None of them really grew either. Mikihito was the only character to really show development. Tatsuya was able to overshadow pretty much every other character in the series and the show kind of gets stale with how pointless the actions of other characters seems. Very very very predictable. You can tell how the story will end up after watching the first few episodes. There aren't any big plot twists or shockers really. For example, Kobeni is shown to be a fragile bodied girl multiple times. The second she decided to go to the mountains, you knew she was setting herself up for a disaster. The only thing that keeps it from being too boring are wondering about character details and if specific characters will ever be more thoroughly flushed out.
Other than that the animation is solid and the music is okay. Too many moe characters but since that is really the only trope focused on it is ignorable. Overall 7/10. Watch slowly over time if you have time~

This show was all over the place. The entire show changed directions and arcs every 2-3 episodes. The show starts off as a realistic slice-of-life about friendship with a more or less realistic setting. Shit hits the fan around episode 7 and the show was a complete roller-coaster since then. The ending is not predictable, none of the characters actions or pasts are predictable, some aren't even comprehensible. If you are able to predict anything serious about the story from earlier episodes you have god-like foresight. This doesn't necessarily make the story "good' just entertaining for the shock and awe factor. During the season's run more than half of the viewership dropped off. This is understandable as the show takes a dark and nonsensical twist and many people realized their "golden egg" of an anime was more like a golden turd. The animation is sometimes lacking and at the end some of the biggest problems are left unanswered. Due to how bad this show is selling it will likely never see another season. The music is usually good, all the EDs were amazing. However, due to the lack of sense and almost forced nonsense shoved into the plot, I cannot justify anything over a 7 for this show.

Watch at your own risk~

Episode 14 was pretty meh, but episode 15 revealed a lot of Kugel and how Striker got to where she was. It didn't add much to the series and the story itself felt a bit rushed but the specials more or less patched some of the plot holes and questions from the main story. Look out for season 2~

I refuse to let it end like this. The ending left a lot of questions on the future of the next story while similtaneously not ending this story. It's weird to think about but the ending of the main plot of this show was implied rather than shown, and many questions on the resolution of this ending have arisen as a result of this. Anyway the show itself was enjoyable. The story was a solid romance with some predicable tension. Kal's resolution was also predictable. Animation was mostly fluid and well detailed, the soundtrack was of good quality. Perhaps you could argue an 8 if you enjoyed it a lot, but for mer it was really just a 7. Watch at your own discretion.

Smooth and vibrant animation, but I thought the character models were kinda weird at times. Overall its an action-harem with battleships and submarines. Definitely one of the more comedic anime I've encountered. In retrospect if it wasn't for the character interaction and the borderline pornographic art style I don't think this anime would've amounted to much. The plot was quite predictable and the ending left me with a lot of questions and just wanting more out of the conclusion..the antagonists literally faced no consequences for attempting to restart a war and enslaving demons. Anyway it was fun and I was entertained so I really shouldn't complain too much. If you don't like fanservice you won't like this anime since this anime is defined by its almost pornographic scenarios~

Kakumeiki Valvrave 2nd Season
This show got this high of a rating because of its plot absurdity. The characters frustrated me and I couldn't sympathize with any of them. This show tried to be Code Geass....but sadly failed on nearly every level. I wish they had tried making the story more original and focused on making new characters instead of attempting to reincarnate the character tropes from Code Geass. In the end best girl loses, many loose ends aren't tied and the conclusion itself really explained. Even though this series is really frustrating I recommend watching just for the absurdity of the story.

While originally disappointing due to lack of appreciation for the characters, a lot of the decisions are become more rational later in the story thanks to the revelation of details about each individual character. The artwork was fantastic and the music was decent enough. The ending was cute but I disliked it, mainly because it gave a feeling of wrapping up the series but also left a lot of unanswered questions (lots of convenient plot devices near the end). The art is vivid and neatly animated, the sound quality is up to par as well. Good watch if you have time~

Golden Time
Definitely not the best romance I've ever seen but not a terribly bad one. I have a tough time deciding whether or not I should've rated this anime higher. I think the MC is really really bland and boring. Banri just isn't really interesting at all. However almost all the side-characters and Kokou are really interesting (especially 2-D Kun). They all have their quirks and most of the series til the final parts is driven by character interactions and comedy. The final episodes rely on this ass-pull amnesia crap and overly dramatic scenes. In the end a lot of secondary character relationships are straight up ignored and never touched up upon in favor of slapstick situations (admittedly splendid humor but still...) and a focus on a largely uninteresting MC. The art style feels dated especially for 2013/2014 and the music wasn't really anything special. However I've seen worse and won't really criticize the animation or music too much. Anyway if you don't really care about closure on secondary characters (well even Mitsuo never got true closure) but enjoy a relatively light hearted romantic comedy, I recommend you check this out~

Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai! OVA
ugh...I quite enjoyed his series but I really didn't like these OVAs. They were basically trying to hit you in the feels. The first one centers around the adorable Hina and her antics. This is standard material. The second OVA actually ends the series and takes place in the future. The art and visuals were all good, its just I have a tough time accepting this ending. A lot of other characters aren't even mentioned and the best girl loses. But my reasons for not liking this are quite superficial. Just because I can't accept the ending doesn't mean I'm not happy it was aired. A lot of anime whose LNs lose popularity never even have an ending, so to see this one end, albeit not to my preference, is a relief. All in all, if you want resolution to the story you basically have to watch these. In similar Papa no Iukoto manner, its not very thought provoking and Yuta looks like a child. All in all, watch to finish the series~

Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou desu yo?
Probably one of the more typical "game"/"battle" anime and probably one of the first to garner a lot of interest in the genre. If I had watched this a few years ago I might have been more impressed but honestly it seems quite generic (probably because of all the successors to the genre). The story isn't too unique, a bunch of super powered kids are teleported to a world where anything can be taken or received through game challenges. Of course all the kids are super overpowered and quite eccentric. There is an end goal revolving around defeating some demon lord. Although the premise is quite vanilla I am hoping for an S2. The characters and setting are enjoyable and well written. The world is given good exposition which draws more curiosity. The art and animation are above average. The OSTs and soundtracks in general enhance the mood without detracting from the overall feel of the anime. The show definitely felt more rushed towards the end and honestly would have benefited from a full 12 episodes. Unfortunately I think this season was just made to sell more light novels. Anyway I would recommend watching this, especially if you enjoyed NGNL (which is imo a better version of this show)~

Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku
Meh, its just a standard isekai that we've all come to love. Nothing too unusual, OP protagonist, harem, adventure, etc. The MC actually has a bit of backbone and doesn't really let people walk all over him, and he's not sex-crazed or a psycho...which feels almost revolutionary in this genre. The story is pretty generic, the MC gets teleported into a game world and he just casually explores the world while trying to figure out his situation. As he travels he picks up more harem members and gets more and more OP. I actually read quite a bit of the LN which is much more in detailed and in-depth with the world building, but I can't fault a 1-cour anime for not developing the setting as much. Overall not a bad isekai, slightly above average even.

This show gets a 6 "Fine" in honor of Finé. I had a lot of expectations for this show and am kind of let down of how boring it turned out to be. Really there are 2 hot MCs, a witch (Izetta) and a princess (Finé) fighting against the Nazis. The witch is the most powerful being in the world, but really just wants a piece of Finé. I'm not sure how to say it but I feel like this show lacks depth? The protagonists are undeniably good and the villians are evil for the sake of being evil. I know that the Nazis in real life had goals that we all know of, but in the show they are really 2-dimensional. Izetta is also just ridiculously strong, flying around killing waves of Germans. There is a bit at the end where the villains make a comeback, but it is of course overcome. See I was really excited for this show because I really enjoyed Gosick, which has a really similar premise to this show - magic meets modern day in WWII. There is some romance and character development, etc. This show just doesnt do any of that well. Other than that, the animation was alright, the characters were drawn well (especially Izetta). Watching Izetta slaughter Nazis was entertaining. The soundtrack was phenomenal, really pleasing and I had many eargasms.
6/10, I think its worth the effort to watch it if you were interested for some reason. At least the first episode is really good and, in-between the mediocrity that is the rest of the show, there are really good scenes peppered throughout~

This show truly is a commercial for various Japanese candies, but they use pure comedy to convey the advertisement. There is a general plot to Dagashi Kashi - candy heiress (Hotaru) is trying to get the son(Kokonotsu) of a famous candy maker to inherit his shop so the candy maker may come work at Hotaru's company, but Kokonotsu has other aspirations in life. However that is really just a pretense for the characters to interact and the show becomes a slice of life comedy. The comedy is reminiscent of Nourin, but perhaps a tad bit less ecchi. The characters are pretty static and don't develop at all (not that it matters since the show is basically episodic in nature). The art style is weird, most of the characters look thuggish or very tired with the exception of Hotaru who is drawn noticeably better than everything else. Little else can be said about the show. The plot was generic, the soundtrack was pleasant but nothing special. The characters had their individual quirks (each girl catering to a different segment) but otherwise didn't show much development. Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru
I really don't have a lot to say about Sakurako-san follows a high-schooler named Shoutaro who befriends Sakurako, an wealthy osteologist (who has a really major bone obsession), and together they solve various mysteries. Sakurako-san is a mystery anime but due to its episodic nature and lack of character development is really unsatisfying. There is some grander mystery that ties all the smaller mysteries together but it isn't really expanded upon, rather hinted at, and being left for another season. I think a big problem in this anime, that many others pointed out, was that most of the tension created instantly dissipated because of Sakurako's genius ability in piecing together the puzzle. There is also a lack of character development, we learn a little about the characters histories but we never really learn about the characters themselves - their motivations and overall interests. Shoutaro is also a dry character. I think Shoutaro is supposed to be the embodiment of the audience watching. He really serves little purpose other than being Sakurako's sidekick and asking questions about the mysteries that Sakurako instantly answers. The art is definitely a plus with really great visuals (though they reused that same bone animation in every episode and it got a bit boring). The soundtracks is pleasing to listen to but not too memorable. Overall I wish this was a 24 episode anime instead of a 12 episode anime. With the greater time Sakurako-san could have given the audience greater insight into the characters and allowed the audience to explore the mysteries for themselves. I would recommend watching the another mystery anime of the Summer 2015 season "Rokka no Yuusha" over this.

Jitsu wa Watashi wa
Adapted from its manga, this Summer 2015 season anime is one of 2 monster girl harems this season. The story follows our MC Asahi who wants to confess to his crush. Before he is able to confess he discovers her sercret - that she is a vampire! Of course now he must keep her secret, while being notoriously bad at hiding information, while collecting a harem of aliens and other monsters. Asahi isn't a particularly unique character. Rather I'd say he was your classic harem protagonist, kind and a typical nice guy. He is a bit different in that he isn't completely oblivious to female charm and he is pretty loyal to his crush. Most of the other characters aren't particularly unique either - stereotypical personalities with a twist in appearance or background. The plot itself plays out like a romantic-comedy and while mostly predictable there were some genuinely funny gags scattered throughout. The animation felt a bit bland but didn't impede viewing. The sound wasn't very memorable but again it wasn't terrible. Overall I'd say I enjoyed this anime but it wasn't anything too remarkable. I'd give it a watch if you have the free time. Charlotte
Charlotte was probably the biggest buzz-kill of the Summer 2015 season for me. Charlotte really suffered from lack of proper pacing mainly due to it being only 1-cour. Jun Maeda's name attracted most of the viewership and the first episode was really entertaining and captivating. From there until episode 6 the anime got a bit stale and around episode 6 Charlotte gets heated. The problem comes from the conclusion in the last 3 episodes which was very poorly executed. After the buildup to episode 6 I think most people expected or craved some dramatic conclusion with tragedy or something more akin to Jun Maeda's style. However the last episode's resolution was incredibly forced, cliche and felt rushed. The plot isn't the only thing lacking - character development was also incredibly sub-par. Almost none of the cast developed in any meaningful way and the MC himself went back and forth from what his character was introduced as to bland MC. Yuu (MC) was introduced as a cold and calculating individual in episode 1. However for the remainder of the series Yuu seems to just goes with the flow occasionally showing his cold hearted self only to be generically "saved" by Tomori. Besides Yuu and Tomori most of the other cast gets little screen time and are never really developed. The overall sound wasn't that appealing to me. I really enjoyed the ED and really disliked the OP. The OSTs weren't that good but generally fit the mood or were negligible. The art was a redeeming factor with fluid animation, very well drawn characters, landscapes, backgrounds, etc. Overall enjoyment is hard to rate. I personally feel underwhelmed by this anime and expected more from Aniplex and Jun Maeda. This was honestly mediocre and disappointing when compared to how it was advertised and when compared to the other anime of the Summer 2015. I feel if this was a 24 episode anime it could've expanded more on the universe or had better, more organic character interaction/development. If you are a die-hard Maeda fan or something go ahead and give this a go if not tread carefully~

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka
This anime really leaves a lot to be desired. The setting is cool and all,I really liked the mash-up o cultures and gods, but I think that after anime like SAO and No Game No Life people held Dungeon to a higher standard. Dungeon really has a weak plot. There is an overarching goal with smaller arcs making up the plot, but overall its very generic and predictable. There is little deviation from what you would expect. The characters were also very 1-dimensional and there was almost no character history/background. This lack of depth isn't just in the characters, but even in the setting. The setting is a cool idea, but we really learn little about it. The art is superb with fluid combat and vivid colors. The sound is average with cool ambient music and battle music but pretty bad ED and OP. What really keeps this anime afloat for me was the entertainment factor. The random comedic moments and character interactions really add to the entertainment value of this anime. I wouldn't recommend watching this anime if you are looking for a decent plot or anything serious (romance, drama, etc) but if you just want to kill some time, watching well choreographed fights, busty lolis, with random spurts of comedy - then go for it. If this gets a second season I hope they make it more worthwhile~

Heavy Object
I didn't really understand the love people had for this show. I thought Heavy Object would be a more gritty battle/mecha show, instead we got a formulaic action/comedy/ecchi show. The show takes place in a future where war revolves around massive mecha/robots called objects. The show actually puts a lot of effort to stress that all objects are quite different, each being heavily customized for a certain situation/environment/etc. The objects are able to fight off whole armies, tank nuclear hits and basically crush any opposition. Thus war has become fights between objects with armies playing supporting roles. The two main characters, Havia and Qwenthur are able to defeat these objects through deep technical understanding of objects, sheer luck and reckless strategies - thus flipping the concept of war. The premise of the show is fantastic but the execution is lacking. After 5 or so episodes the formula they follow becomes painfully obvious. They are sent to some new region where they have to fight a new/unique object and using their creativity find some way to disable or destroy it. Other than that the show relies on its comedy and fanservice as a crutch for the lack of actual plot complexity. Other than the repetitiveness none of the characters are particularly enjoyable (though the brotherly relationship betwen Havia and Qwenthur is well done). None of the characters really develop either (which for a 2 cour show is pretty abysmal). The art is crisp and colorful, very well animated. The soundtrack is okay as well. Overall I didn't find it too fascinating or captivating. However your tastes may be different than mine so try a few episodes out!

For a series that built its fanbase during the first season on character development and intricate and fulfilling story telling, Psycho-Pass S2 really falls short on those two areas specifically. Too many plot holes and frankly unnecessary twists. You can probably find a more in-depth review that explains every detail but I won't go into it too much on a MAL comment. While the season started off solidly it devolved into something horrendous. I can sort of see what they were trying to do with the story near the end, but even then the resolution doesn't make too much sense and I can only assume they are planning a third season. When speaking of character development I really have to say it is more appropriate to speak of the lack of character development. This season introduces a plethora of secondary characters with no back story whatsoever. They come and serve a purpose in the plot and we are meant to take it at face value. Season 1 shares this problem but not to this extent. The main antagonist, Kamui, is actually a more grey person than Makishima if you can believe that. However Kamui is nowhere near as likable nor do I find myself able to sympathize with his cause as I did with Makishima. I suppose this goes into the plot but a majority of Kamui's actions are completely unnecessary as they really have little purpose later on in the season. All in all very disappointing. The art and sound were good as usual, and seeing a strong Akane was refreshing but that's all I can really say. I found the main plot to be full of holes and really just overly dramatized for the sake of it. No character development. A major turn away from S1. You kinda have to watch this if you watched the first season, just don't go in expecting too much compared to S1~

Akame ga Kill!
NOTE: This will be a long comment/review so skip down for a TL;DR if you don't want to read. Also I will try not to spoil too much but some spoilers might still leak out. Oops.

This anime was a bit disappointing and I should've guessed it from the first episode. Unfortunately I didn't figure out this anime would be such a let down til much later and well, I didn't want to blue-ball myself so I finished it. How to describe this anime? It tries to be dark, edgy and overall just a super moral heavy type anime. It comes off like there is supposed to be some deep meaning behind it. This is not true at all. First things first, killing main characters doesn't make a story unique or meaningful. It can if used properly with appropriate pacing, but this is not evident in Akame ga Kill. This is especially true near the end where they have main characters die for the sake of dying. Literally some of them die due to really dumb & exaggerated reasons. The death of main characters actually becomes a bit of a problem as it inhibits character development. Fewer character interactions and the ones that happen are generally sad/grieving moments. Compounding this is every character basically being some archetypical stereotype. The only exceptions to this were Wave, Run, Budou and Chelsea. Chelsea is really the only character that would have real-world normal reactions but she is never expanded on. Run isn't even shown much til the very end and by then it doesn't even matter anymore. Budou literally does nothing meaningful at all (in comparison to the manga). Wave is some of the most wasted potential I've ever seen. Wave is depicted as a parallel to Tatsumi (protagonist). He is an incredibly simple but moral character who is on the wrong side. Wave could've been utilized to explain the evils of the Rebellion or the benefits of the Empire. Wave could've helped make the story more gray rather than the black/white that it was. Of course I say "could've" because the story really is black and white. The Empire literally has no positive qualities and all its members (except perhaps the Emperor) are comically evil. Really for a story that seems to want to portray itself as deep there is no moral dilemma at all. Every villain is comically evil and every hero is undeniably just. There are exceptions, notably within the Jaegars, but then those who are good end up on the side of good or die doing good deeds. Additionally many characters have big titles or are supposed to have fearsome reputations. These are essentially meaningless. Esdeath is the only character who lives up to her hype, everyone else dies in silly circumstances or loses when their opponent uses their "special super secret amazing ability" or something. Another problem I had was the random interjections of comedy. There would be a tragic incident and the next scene was some random joke. This really does tie in to what I mentioned earlier about the lack of proper pacing in this anime. Much of it felt rushed and I feel if they had just slowed down to develop the characters they could've easily made an amazing anime that would've sold out and funded a second season. I don't hate this anime at all. I found it very entertaining to watch. The animation was smooth and vivid. They did a fabulous job on blood and death scenes in general. The sound and music was phenomenal. I just feel like there was nothing to be gained from watching this.

TL;DR: So much wasted potential. The art and music are really top notch but the story just isn't meaningful or good. Its just average or below average. This is a long series so if you are determined to watch this go into it not taking it too seriously. As of writing this I've only read a bit of its source manga and its miles better. ~

Nobunaga the Fool
Not a bad anime, but I think it tries to do too much and is just kind of all over the place. The idea behind the anime is actually really creative and had a lot of potential, the art was also superb - top notch really. Other than that there isn't much else that is "good". The characters are super one-dimensional and unrelatable. I really disliked the main female protagonist and the flow of the series was super shonneny with various other genres painted over it at random intervals (between romance, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, tragedy, etc) sometimes all in one episode.
Watch if you have the time or interest. Perhaps if somebody else you know has a similar taste recommends it to you. Not exactly my cup of tea~

Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha.
I already read the manga so the anime wasn't much of a surprise. The "finite" ending of the anime was a bit sad but showed that our protagonist will be just fine in the future. Unfortunately I didn't give a shit about the protagonist the entire way though. I could not relate to her or her love for "Tanbabashi-kun" (if I hear her screech that name again I will go insane!). In fact the most interesting couple was the forbidden love between God and Man with the Goddess and her brother. That could make its own wildly successful spin-off if they wanted.

If you read the manga then skip it, it is literally a waste of time to watch it. The voice acting isn't the best and the plot really isnt there. If you want a more typical shoujo girl falling for a guy but trying to help every person in the process then this is your cup of tea. ~

Mini-series on a vocaloid. They try putting some backstory in but it is kinda just silly in the end. I can't hate on the series since each episode is only 4minutse long (of which ~1minute is dedicated to the credits)..All 13 episodes combined only have 26mins of actual material so 1 full episode. Not a bad waste of time and I am curious to see if they make another mini-series or something

Meh, it started off okay. There were competitive female characters and the MC seemed alright. As the series dragged on it became obvious how the story would end and more or less devolved into a too shouneny-fanservice fest. Additionally all the MCs ended up becoming very repetitive and annoying. Their characters just stopped any type of personal growth. The ending was a bit unexpected (after credits of last episode) but other than that I am not really impressed. This will likely get another season but I feel like it won't be worth it.

There were so many possibilities with the setting and so it was kind of a let down that they didn't run as wild with it as they could have. The story that is there is just okay with a kind of terrible ending. There are a TON of loose ends which are to be expected to be covered in the upcoming movie. Additionally there is a clear and constant Yaoi undertone throughout the entire series so be aware if that creeps you out~

Really really average and honestly, quite boring rom-com anime. This anime doesn't really innovate at all. There is a normal MC who attracts a flock of women each representing a trope to pander to the otakus, and he has some limits to what he can and cant do because of a "curse". MC also is super dense and basically like Touma from Index Series. The art and music were all good. There was some occasionally funny moments. I can't say that this anime was "bad" just super average. Also the ending is inconclusive. No second season either. Some side stories to the main Utawarerumono series. The OVAs are likely set during the peaceful times in between battles. The animation is is more akin to the first cour of the main series, and lacks the refinement of the second cour. There is a new OP and ED but the OSTs were the same as the main series. The OVAs in general are less violent and more ecchi/comedic than the main series. None of it is cannon but if you enjoyed the main series then you should watch these OVAs.

The way in which the episodes were aired was intelligent but it brings it back to the point that the plot is mediocre and doesn't really require you to watch this in any given order. Nothing is accomplished and there is not deep plot or meaning at all. Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED
I remember this show being a lot better when I watched it on Toonami..but it just doesn't really hold up too well now that I'm an adult. To get the basics out of the way, the music and art are okay nothing spectacular, and I basically always skipped the OP/ED unless the show went through it. The character design is a bit dated, but the background and combat sequences are very well drawn. The animation overall is a bit dated but more or less holds up. The main issue with Gundam SEED is it's plot, pacing, and characters. The story is full of noticeble plot holes that make you want to tear your hair out. For the entire first half of the show, the Earth Forces are comically inept, to the point that you wonder how they survived the war this long. The last third of the show they are magically super amazing and powerful. The MC (Kira Yamato) is written into corners and uses the power of magic and hand waving to get out of them. His community nickname "Jesus Yamato" is apt, and I'm still scratching my head on how he got out of some situations. They never explain his miraculous survivals and teleportations for plot convenience. They also never properly explain the super powers the cast uses during fights... you know the "SEED" part of Gundam SEED. The pace of characters traveling is also poorly thought through. Despite being in a state of the art starship, mobility is a huge problem for the main cast. The heroes take so long to sail across the Indian Ocean, or just travel around the debris belt around Earth, while the villains can travel between their far off base and Earth seemingly at will without any delay. The characters are also all extremely unlikable (with the exception of Athrun who gets screwed over repeatedly). The minor characters do nothing meaningful and there are 2 extremely qualified candidates for "worst girl" in this show. Somehow the side villains are more competent and are given more depth than supporting heroes (who we see every episode) Another issue with the cast is that they are all having nonstop mental breakdowns and behaving unreasonably. The MC, and main characters in general, cry incessantly and the crying sound effects they use are annoying asf. There are entire episodes where nothing but montages of the cast crying and flashbacks occur. There are probably 15-20 flashbacks per episode on average. The flashbacks and crying take up so much time, and it's very noticeable when binge watching this show. Super annoying (but probably great for the budget). I also sympathized with the antagonists a lot during the show. The "villains" are actually more reasonable than the heroes (the Coordinators were nuked first and just wanted peace in their far off space habitats, natural humans just want to genocide them). Honestly, if you are a fan of Gundam, you have to watch this. IDK if I will watch the sequels since this rubbed me the wrong way. Gundam SEED might be best when watched over a long period of time (say one episode a week?) rather than binge watching it.

Ryuuou no Oshigoto!
This show is kind of like "3-Gatsu no Lion" but much less deep or interesting. Surprisingly enough "Ryuuou no Oshiogoto" focuses way more on the actual shougi aspect of the series. This show discusses, albeit broadly, strategies, terminologies, and gameplay mannerisms. Unfortunately I really didn't care for any of the characters themselves. In fact I think this show's greatest weakness is "3-Gatsu no Lion's" greatest strength. The characters in "Ryuuou no Oshiogoto" are super 1-dimensional cardboard cutout cliches. There are some unique aspects but overall really bland. I particularly hate Yaichi and everything his character symbolizes. Yaichi is a spineless and effeminate shounen protagonist who, if I didn't know any better, enjoyed people walking over him and publicly degrading him. Contrast this to "3-Gatsu no Lion's" characters who are all written to behave like real people with their own aspirations and interests and its a shocking contrast. Honestly this show was pretty ridiculous at times and is pretty blatant about its loli-pandering. If you are into that kind of thing this is great incentive to watch this show. If you aren't then, like me, it's a huge turn-off. The art is on point and the voice acting quality particularly stands out to me. The Ops and Eds aren't that great and the OSTs aren't noticeable. I personally wouldn't rewatch this or recommend it. Apparently the LNs are less in your face about Loli-cons and is a bit better written (because light novels are inherently less rushed) so maybe give that a try.

The manga is SOO much better than the anime. This anime just seems so dysfunctional. Way to much fanservice and not enough story and emotion. The manga is captivating because it balances its humor and darkside. The manga is intriguing and constantly keeps you on the edge of your seat. The anime is just melting girls and tits, non-stop "who gets to fuck the mc?!?!" bleh. I think a big reason that this anime came off so poorly is because it was just really rushed. Kotoura-san
Kotoura-san is a show that had a very strong setting but wasted it on forced tension and absence of meaningful drama. I might have really enjoyed this show, if I was still 14 years old. Kotoura-san is a show about Haruna Kotoura, a psychic who is ostracized by her peers and abandoned by her parents for her abilities. The show goes over her transition from cold loner to normal member of society. However the main plot itself is mediocre. Incredibly predictable, cheesy and uninspired. One would think that the character interactions would be a strong point but again it falls short of expectations. Besides the occasional chuckle you get from Manabe's perverted actions the character interactions are boring and at times frustrating. A lot of the character interactions seem really forced or just don't make a lot of sense. The first episode has Kotoura's backstory and it keeps trying to get more and more depressing just to get the audience to feel bad for Kotoura. Even random side characters who shouldn't have anything to do with Kotoura are harassing and bullying her. These same problems are all rapidly (and poorly) resolved near the end of the show. Almost everything bad that happened to Kotoura throughout her childhood is somehow written off as a misunderstanding or some greater motive. Abandoned by parents, they really had your best interests at heart! Almost killed by psycho? She is just the same as you and has split personalities! Its laughable that no true malevolence exists in this universe. Other than the pitiful plot and characters the art was also average. Not appealing but not detracting from the experience. The sound quality was generally average as well with good cast in voice actors but with osts/op/ed that were all boring and not memorable. overall a really average show that probably could've been more if the writers had taken a step back and made a more plausible (and less predictable) story with some more genuine character interactions.

Knight's & Magic espouses mediocrity. This show left a bad taste in my mouth so I won't write a lot so I won't dwell on it. The MC is kind of OP for the sake of it, the show skips too much and relies on the narrator explaining things away without proper reasoning, character development is also lacking. Really we learn a lot of about Ernesti, but it focuses on him so much that we dont really learn a lot about the side characters and they aren't properly developed. And honestly, I kind of hated Ernesti. He was irritating and watching him continuously win (usually with the aid of ridiculous amounts of convenience) was frustrating. None of the characters are really enjoyable and are all boring as hell. Most of their interactions don't seem fluid or normal. The romance subplot is the most forced out of all of them. One of the female MCs vehemently denies one of the male MCs and pursues another MC ends up with the MC she denies at the very end for no rational reason. Kuusen Madoushi Kouhosei no Kyoukan
Kussen Madoshi is probably one of the most unoriginal and uninspired anime I've seen in a long time. That really is all that needs to be said about this anime. Its not absolutely horrid, but it isnt good in any way either. Kuusen Madoushi doesn't innovate or do anything original. The whole plot is weak and the characters are all stereotypical cliches. MC is a "traitor" badass who is silent and oblivious to female approach. Despite being a "traitor" he is actually a really good guy just looking out for everyone. His students are all part of his harem with the short-tempered tsundere, shy girl and kuudere. All his students needed to become strong was the power of understanding/trusting one another and friendship. The final boss fight and episode are huge let downs. Additionally there isn't any world building whatsoever. There is no exposition on how humanity was forced to live in floating cities, how magic works, why the beetles were attacking, etc etc. If you have any interest in the world of Kussen Madoushi tough luck. The art was okay, not the best but had extremely poor quality when it came to the action scenes (or lack thereof). Most action scenes were simply jump-cuts with most fighting implied rather than shown. Whenever a fight was shown the framerates were comically low and extremely unappealing. When it came to dialogue and backgrounds the animation improved somewhat and there were a few cute quirks in the background. The soundtrack was awful in my opinion. Many people found the soundtrack to be redeeming, but that is probably only because the ED was good. The OP and all the OSTs are abhorrent and cringe worthy. If it seems like I am harsh its because the Summer 2015 season had a lot of really good anime adaptations and this craps all over the general theme of amazing adaptations. I think the only reason why the majority of people who watched this finished this is because they wanted something to watch on Wednesday since nothing else really aired on that day. Anyways 4/10 really really average/generic plot & characters with subpar animation and sound. If you just want something to look at and really have nothing better to do then go for it~

Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai
This show had so much potential but failed so miserably. Taimadou Gakuen is a light novel adaptation but rather than being an adaptation this anime was more like a commercial for the light novel. The animation and sound tracks were top notch - no complaints on the production value. However the story was lacking in its entirety. So much important plot was left out from the light novel. The show uses arcs to advance its plot, with each arc focusing on one girl. Each arc has some emotional appeal and crisis but the endings really lack appeal and charisma. I can't explain too much but know its this show is comically cheezy and bad the whole way through. I would recommend against watching this anime.

MC is a total twat, he has an amazing girlfriend and his life isn't that bad...yet he cheats on his GF countless times even in the same hospital his sick dad is resting at! Unbelievable I cannot relate to Toya at all and I don't see the appeal! My blood is boiling right now!

Chaos Dragon: Sekiryuu Seneki
Chaos Dragon was probably one of the worse anime of the Summer 2015 season. I think the idea behind it was really cool but it was implemented in the worst way possible. This is surprising since there were a lot of big names attached to this series (Nasu, Urobuchi, Narita, etc). Perhaps my expectations were too high. Anyway the plot revolves around a young prince, Ibuki, who contracts with the guardian of his country (a fire dragon) to help bring peace and possibly independence to his land. His country was conquered and more or less divided between two other powers with the remaining land in turmoil due to the patron fire dragon going beserk. The story sounds a bit generic but the twist is that Ibuki only gets power by sacrificing a friend. Despite having an interesting premise the story didn't really flow well in my opinion. If felt tedious and too disconnected. The whole show seems to move by introducing new characters every episode (and others die simultaneously). I'd like to give a special mention to the beginning montage which was incredibly annoying and tiresome. The characters were what really soured this show for me (in my opinion). You can tell who wrote which characters (with Lou clearly being Urobuchi's character) but the way they interact with one another usually seems unnatural. Some of the character designs also feel like lazy cardboard cutouts. The worse offender goes to the main MC Ibuki. He is literally the embodiment of every bad shounen trope. He is a cowardly crybaby who refuses to kill anybody even if it means death or sacrificing the rest of his country. People literally kill themselves on him just to progress to the story because Ibuki has no spine. I haven't been so angered by an incompetent MC in a long time. The art is probably the only redeeming quality of this anime. It was well done. The best part of it was proper use of CGI! They used CGI not as an alternative to properly drawn frames, but rather as a compliment to it. The CGI was unobtrusive and really good quality. I typically hate CGI but in Chaos Dragon they surprisingly got it right. The sound wasn't bad but neither was it especially memorable. Overall I wouldn't recommend watching this. I didn't enjoy it and I suspect the vast majority of people wouldn't either~.

Subete ga F ni Naru
This show is pretty bad. It wants to be some philosophical murder mystery show, key words "wants to". It tries so hard but ends up just being edgy and hilariously forced. The show starts with some moe-assistant making coffee followed by our protagonist making some super complex and dark statement about free will. Most of the show follows this pattern and the logic that is used to solve the mysteries is baffling. Rational reasoning is thrown out the windows and conclusions from the left field are accepted as normal. Its like the writers wanted to make the characters seem intelligent or creative so made them pull the most random solutions out of nowhere. The mystery itself is interesting but not enough to warrant listening to the dribble that is the dialogue between the characters. There is no character development and no dramatic build-up. The art and animation are okay but not spectacular. The OP and ED are well done, and the OSTs are pretty good too. But I wouldn't recommend watching this show unless you want to relive your edgy pre-teen years.

Satisfying ending, stupidly frustrating journey. I don't reccommend anybody watching this. I hear that it is supposed to be a satire on the harem style genres but ended up a super terrible anime. It really is as bad as people joke about it being. If you insist on watching this then go into it as a tragic comedy, you'll like it more that way~

I don't understand the point of this show. Each episode is 3minutes long and honestly pretty awful. I've seen shows make very good use of that time (see plastic nee-san) so making a good show with that allotment of time is possible. None of the characters were particularly enjoyable and the show didn't really accomplish anything. Pass this

Louise is literally one of the most annoying and frustrating female MCs I have ever encountered. I understand a lot of people love this series and many people will tell me to just bear through the pain..but I can't. The male MC is spineless and doesn't use his brain. This story is beyond ridiculous. I don't even know why I gave it a chance when I do not appreciate the siscon genre. Not worth the effort unless you want some hardcore hentai with forced siscon situations. Wait for the BD and buy it for full decensored version because thats all this anime is useful for. The animation itself isn't bad and neither is the soundtracks...the story is just horrendous. At least OreImo had a great story, this is just as many forced hentai situations as possible with a cliched "I will love you anyway" ending. Again, don't bother.
