Sailor Moon S Movie: Hearts in Ice

Well, I finally got around to watching the subbed Sailor Moon S movie, and I am definitely not disappointed! This is by far my favorite of the three Sailor Moon movies! (Wow, this is my shortest intro ever! Usually, my intros are way TL;DR!)

Story: The story was very good. It focused on Luna, rather than Usagi, and it told about her falling in love with a human guy. There could have been a little more about Snow Kaguya (I can't really remember her name; I'm so bad at remembering villain names!) but that's okay with me because I perfer good guys over bad guys anyway.

Art: The art was really pretty and shiny, although not as shiny as that of the SuperS movie. However, it may just have seemed like that because I was watching it full screen so everything was a bit pixelated.

Sound: I absolutely loved the background music. Everything fit the emotion so well. I really liked the song they played while Sailor Moon used Rainbow Moon Heartache. (I think that's the attack name, I can't remember.)

Character: The characters are great, as usual. This was great character development for Luna, and we also get to see Luna's human form. Great new characters were introduced as well.

Enjoyment/Overall: Like I said before, I really liked this movie and it's my favorite of the three Sailor Moon movies. It was very cute. read more

The Sailor Moon movies are a pretty mixed bag. The R movie was thin on story, though it did have some great visuals and a killer ending theme song. I can't stand Chibi-Usa, so you can probably imagine how I feel about the Super S movie.

In my opinion, the S movie stands head and shoulders above the other two in almost every way. I'm glad that the focus is on Luna instead of Usagi. Not that I dislike Usagi (quite the opposite), but we get plenty of her in the TV series, so it's nice to see something different. Also, they managed to fit quite a bit of stuff into a short running time without making it feel too rushed. The story isn't the most original or innovative, but it still hits all the right notes.

Speaking of hitting all the right notes, the best thing about this movie is the music! It uses all the various musical cues to great effect, without going too over-the-top. My favorite is the beautiful, heartbreaking theme used for Luna-- I cry when I listen to it. The music does a great job of punctuating and enhancing every scene and without it, I don't think I would have enjoyed this movie so much. read more

Sailor Moon gone to the kitties. Meanwhile the R movie focused on Darien(Mamoru) this movie leaves off the usual spotlight on Sailor Moon, and focouses more on the side characters of Luna and Artemis.This is a cute and touching movie, you will cry when Luna does with her unrequited love. You'll feel sorry for Artemis and just say Wow when Luna's transformation, and aww in the end.The outer scouts this time join the fight in the movie, and the only thing missing was a transformation of Artemis but sadly thats only in the manga.Also if you think Zoisite or Emerald was annoying then get prepared for the ear-aching Snow Dancers with their screeches that make you hate them more, which is a good thing you're supposed to hate the villains. Overall though this is a great movie. read more
