A Super Robot piloted by a hot-blooded male who screams his attacks. Over-the-top action paired with serious drama. Victories, tragedies, love, betrayal, personal struggles, a fight to save humanity. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cheer. Highly recommended.
To truly understand the meaning of gar and all of its various connotations relative to man, both TTGL and G Gundam are excellent starting references. Both have dramatic combat, giant robots, allies that become enemies, enemies that become allies, and a hero that goes out there to fight for what they want. I hate to alienate any populations by saying, this, but speaking as a man, to men, you should definitely place both of these on your "must watch list".
Consider G Gundam as the older version of TTGL. I think that G Gundam has a better storyline than TTGL, but at the same time the story moves at a slower pace than TTGL as well (being 49 eps vs 27 eps respectively). Still, if you liked TTGL than you may want to watch G Gundam as well.
both are old shows but very good
both have to do with fighting using robots
both have to do with saving the love of their life in the last battle
both are classics ^_^
G gundam is sort of like the gurren lagann of the 90's. both are over the top mech anime

Both shows have the same director and have awesome narrators, with memorable lines, such as, "GUNDAM FIGHT! READY, GO!" and "SONOTORI! KARE NO NAMAE WA BUREIDO!".
Things get crazy! People have super-kung fu powers! And so do the robots! A soaring epic the likes of which the world has never seen since Gilgamesh!
Shares the same director. Domon and Kouji are both hot blooded pilots. Master Asia and Baron Ashura can both take down mechs with their bare hands. If you like G Gundam, then Shin Mazinger is a must watch.

Both share a director, and both have a flair for crazy dramatic kung-fu battles with wuxia influences. (G Gundam makes up for the lack of magical Chinese ninjas with Magical GERMAN Ninjas) And see if you can hear a familiar voice in the Japanese language tracks!
If you liked the ridiculously over-the-top, over-dramatic kung fu super robot fighting action of G Gundam (and if you didn't, I don't know what to say to you), Giant Robo: The Day the Earth Stood Still does it better than anybody. Much like G Gundam, Giant Robo combines a grand, sweeping martial-artsy storyline with larger-than-life characters, but while G Gundam feels like a (very awesome) Saturday morning cartoon, Giant Robo feels like an opera, with an amazing orchestrated score and long speeches that feel more like arias.

Both these series are somewhat of a comedy for the mecha genre. The way the mecha are controlled is also very similar.
Both use the same formula for a mecha anime. All the fight scenes are the same in every episode. Both kick a**.

These are two of my favorite animes! And even though Scryed istant in a competion like G Gundam the fighting style is very simliar. In most battles in Scryed they are one on one (with a wide variety of oppents like G Gundam).
Also, both Kazuma (Scryed main protagonist) and Domon (G Gundam main protagonist) use one hand as their strongest/prime weapon in battle. This will eventually evolve into there whole being being used as their weapon. It's not so much their power that makes them srong but the combo of their natural ability with spirit.
Rebels to the system both have their reasons for hating "the man". A strong support system including a close female companion (sister in Scryed and lover in G Gundam) are present in both. Bitter rivals and once enemies become close friends and in whatever way help the protagonists eventually in both animes.
Finally, they seem to both be looking from the outside in. Always a main part of all the action yet they seem to be alone. They are on a quest to find some mysterious character that caused great tragedy in their lives.
Both of these anime are very similar. The both take place in worn down worlds, they have main characters with nearly idenitcal personalities, and most importantly they were both directed by Goro Taniguchi. If it weren't for the mecha part in G Gundam then these would be the same anime.

Super robots, hotblooded pilots, attack name yelling, all the things that make you want to yell those attack names along with them.
So I heard you like heartwarming, awesome, hotblooded, charmingly cheesy 90s mecha anime from Sunrise.

Both have a tournament style of mech-fighting, with a cocky pilot as the main character who yells the names of his attacks
The mech they each use both have a special attack where the hands of their robot start to glow as well as other parts of their body
Pretty much the last half of g gundam is very similar to way zoids zero is... and if that ain't enough for you then how's about the fact that it's big robots against big robots...-gundams being humanly and zoids being animals

G Gundam is pretty much non-stop action. It doesn't quite have the comedy of DBZ, but if you're looking for a series that's all about the fights, this is a good one to watch.
Martial Arts + Science Fiction + People Turning Gold + Manliness = Dragon Ball Z & G Gundam

Over the top, hot blooded manliness at it's best. If you watch shows for men who test their souls in battle, then this is for you.
They're the same show, except one has (more) gundams and stereotypes, while the other is limited to real people in Japan. Although, that Tadakatsu is suspiciously robotic...

where as angelic layer is more on the cutesy side of things both of these shows have a turnament in which the main character must win or overcome. the stories are really good but with the longer shows the characters just have to keep fighting in more turnaments.

They both feature a multicultural cast that fights for the control of the realm. Queen's Blade focuses more on character development and G Gundam focuses more on the hotblooded fighting action. They are also both fanservice shows, one is dedicated to people who like breasts and the beauty of a woman's figure and the other is dedicated to the intrigue of fighting robots.

Shaman King features a world-wide tournament held every 500 years to decide the fate of the world whereas G Gundam's world-wide tournament is held every 4 years to decide who rules Earth. Both of these shows also have a somewhat racist, yet humorous, portrayal of their respective fighters from around the world with the exception of Japan itself.

Both shows have martial arts, hot-blooded characters, and epic battles.

Saint Seiya inspired Sunrise to make this masterpiece. Both animes filled with manly spirit and badass characters. If you like shonen anime, but don't like mecha, this anime could change your mind, like it did with me.

National stereotypes (or girls acting out national stereotypes, as is the case for girls und panzer) fighting in a tournament. Difference is Girls und Panzer stays as a tournament while G Gundam turns into a save the world thing at the end.
Both have Super Robot hotblooded Super Robot pilots with spikey hair that can kick serious ass. Kouji and Domon both summon their respective mecha with a pose/snapping their figures and a piece of dialogue.
Obviously both over the top action man-fights, with occasional women fights.
But most importantly, both have fighting with ATTACK NAMES
though Needless is more comedic

Multinational team (Almost the same countries, even!) + mechas.
A lot of over-the-top manliness. Honoo no Tenkousei plays it very tongue-in-cheek, whereas G Gundam's charm is in how serious it is about itself (thus becoming awesomely cheesy). I'd bet Domon and Takizawa are related, or alternate universe versions of each other or something.

Both are Super Robot shows with super manly protagonists and ridiculously awesome stuff happening all the time. It doesn't get much more over the top and hotblooded than either of these series.
Mecha series with a hero motivated primarily by his unresolved issues with his long lost/presumed dead older brother.
Both series have a theme of a country supporting a particular giant robot/mech and fighting it out to see who comes out on top.
G-Gundam is sometimes compared to Street Fighter for being about fighters from all over the world duking it out. Plus both are hot-blooded fighting series from the 90s.
Both have the same concept: Super Robot fight and tournament.
The RNK manga was a stong influence while doing G Gundam, you can see that in the matches, hot bloodedness, the stereotyped nations fighting in Gundams(who in other series are suposed to be Real Robots) using special tecniques is the same kind of desconstruction that Ring ni Kakero does with boxing. The Japan team characters also are simmilar to the Shuffle aliance counterparts,Ryuuji is similar to Domon,Jun to Argo,Ishimatsu to Sai Saici,Takeshi to George and Shinatora to Chibodee.
