Mitsudomoe is about the three Marui sisters and the various shenanigans they get up to at school and at home. The latest release of Mitsudomoe's OVA is a return to form for this gag-comedy anime. And after an awesomely hilarious first season, followed by a relatively underwhelming second season, I can't help but feel excited and relaxed that the anime staff seem to have their jokes in order again.
Mitsudomoe is all about the gags and the comedy, and it's not afraid to poke fun at dieting or misunderstandings. From making Mitsuba, the sadistic and fat Marui sister, the butt of fat jokes, Yabecchi the
victim of sex-related misunderstandings, and the Maruis' father getting mistaken for a pedophile, there's no end to the laughs.
It's moments like these that make me glad I didn't pass this anime off for its childish animation. Mitsudomoe manages to use the three Marui sisters, all with contrasting personalities, the ever-lovable teacher, Yabecchi, and all their classmates to pull off some truly insane gags and sex-jokes. But in hindsight, it's the animation style that gave this show its character and drove the humor through to the audience.
