Synopsis

An ordinary day for Seki Hisashi consists of working a nine-to-five shift at an auto parts company in Shinjuku, evading his flirtatious boss' advances, and then riding his motorcycle back to his apartment, where he lives alone. One morning, however, becomes anything but ordinary for the young salaryman.

After Seki awakens to a naked woman lying beside him in his bed, he is even further shocked when she reveals her desire for them to be together. Even so, this does not explain her supernatural abilities, telekinesis being one of many. Rather than questioning her elusive nature, he immediately cuddles with her—finding the woman to be his ideal type.

On his way home from work, a vision of his newfound love leads Seki to crash his motorcycle, giving rise to a police chase. Meanwhile, the woman awaits him at his apartment but grows restless, apparently unable to be apart from him. Arriving a moment too late, Seki watches her vanish without a trace, unaware if his unnamed soulmate will ever return. Little does he know that returning is something she indeed plans on doing.

A true example of a "hidden gem", whatever you think that means. Can't believe this has less than 5.0 score AND below 1000 members. Probably because people were mad that the "story" wasn't coherent or explained at all, as every other reviewer pointed out. Adding to the bizarre numbers, 6 reviews (7 now) for an unpopular anime such as this is kind of insane and unheard of.

That aside, art was what you would expect from an 80s OVA. Characters look cartoon-ish and fun to watch. Pop music, of course. You can tell that a lot of effort and creative power was put into this single ...

Mixed Feelings
"Like in a movie about youth! Run straight without making sense!" The irony that this line from the OVA perfectly sums up the entire movie is not lost on me. I'd recommend this only if you really enjoyed the back bone to Urusei Yatsura. Otherwise, you'll not find this show enjoyable.

I'll preface by saying I don't want to compare this to UY, but it mimics UY so much, it's nearly impossible to do so. I will attempt to keep the comparisons to a minimum.

Going by the release dates between Urusei Yatsura and Majo demo Steady, the latter was an attempt to ride on the coattails ...

What. The. F***.

I'm quite sure that's the most rational reaction to Majo Demo Steady, but it's such a good example of 'so bad it's good'.

For the life of me, I cannot even begin to describe anything about the plot. There are some extremely outdated 80s homophobic stereotypes about one character that made me roll my eyes, but other than that the rest of the anime felt like an intense fever dream that always seemed to completely subvert my expectations but in a "WTF" way.

Art is cute at least, even when everything goes off the rails.

There's one scene though that has a heavy amount of ...
