natsume yuujinchou is a watered-down cross between xxxholic and mushishi
Both main characters are the only one's in the story that can see spirits. They also share the same sense of loneliness that comes with it. There's a few episodes in both Natsume Yuujinchou & xxxHolic that go into true detail about their feelings of being alone. It's drama unlike i've ever seen before, and i love that part about each of these shows, so much. If you've seen one of these shows, then i highly recommend you check out the other.
both main characters can see spirits / demons and then in a way help them ^^ oh and both of them have charters that act silly so its funny is some ways
there are some episodes in xxxholic that really remind me of Natsume Yuujinchou
Both are about ayakashi and yokai, share a bit of story and they both have a Zashiki-Warashi in it. xxxHolic is pretty dark, while Natsume Yuujinchou is lighter and uses more colours.
Same basic idea - a guy that can see the supernatural. Natsume Yuujinchou is little more touching and lighter, while xxxHolic is a bit funnier.
The character of Watanuki (xxxHolic) is very similar to Natsume (Natsume Yuujinchou). Even though the stories of the two series are different except for the boy-who-can-see-spirits thing, the "feel" is the same. Also, Nyan-ko sensei is kinda like a cross between kuro-Mokona and the Kudakitsune.
Both series start out very similarly, both of the main characters are being chased by spirits which only they can see. Both are fairly episodic though xxxHOLiC definitely links more episodes together.

Mushishi and XXXHolic are very similar. Both have main characters that can see spirits and help people or other spirits. And both are very good.^^
NO story line what so ever, every episode has it's unique story and characters
Is also about the supernatural that only few can see. The main character of Mushishi is a traveler that helps people with their problems involving Mushi. They are neither plants nor animals. They differ from other forms of life such as the micro-organisms and the fungi. Instead they resemble the primeval body of life and are generally known as "Mushi".
Both deal with ordinary people and there interaction with the supernatural.
Both series involve mysterious encounters with supernatural creatures and events. And neither of them have high amounts of action.
both the same supernatural feeling, and the same aspect of not having one storyline, but many covered in each episode. xxxholic has humour, whilst mushishi is more mature, still both brilliant watching with a strange warming sense to both.
Both series are about life, both teach us many strane things.
Both anime are very strong in the use of the supernatural and spirits.
Both feature a unique artstyle and have a mysterious
feeling about them.

while the direct links in XXXHOlic have been eliminated, Tsubasa still has reference to XXXHolic itself. many things are brought to light by watching both.
Although XxXholic and Tsubasa Chronicles are different from each other both stories still have character connections meaning that the characters from the anime also make appearances in the other anime and vice versa. Both animes are from CLAMP.
you'll find the same character in those series. and the story is related. so if you don't watch both of them, you won't understand the next OVA/OAD of those anime.
both of them are made by CLAMP
The plot of xxxHoLic is not similar to Tsubasa chronicle. However, they share the shame character called Yuuko. In the manga, the plots of xxxHoLic and Tsubasa Chronicle interwine with one another. You'll find it so amazing that the items from xxxHoLic is often used to trade with the characters in Tsubasa Chronicle to help Syaoran and his group for the search of Sakura's feathers.
Alternate universe kind of feeling. Yuuko, Watanuki, Black Mokona and White Mokona are there too
The two are remotely related

Both of them grant requests, just that one deals with wishes and one deals with revenge. Also, both require compensation.
Ai looks like a mini version of Yuuko with the long flowing black hair, they have assistants as well
xxxHolic and Jigoku Shoujo are very similar because both are talking about woman that grants wishes, and in both animes, if u want to grant your wish, u have to pay a price.
Both are horror animes and even have the same atmosphere.
Well, the protagonists characters look almost the same and the stories resembles: Enma Ai is a young girl who grants vengeance in exchange for your' soul. The subject of your revenge will be taken to hell.
Both are about granting wishes. In both you must pay or sacrifice something important to make your wish come true. Even Ai and Yuuko are similar - not only their hair ^^
it's because both grant wishes but one is desire and other is revenge, both require compensation as well. And Ai looks like a mini Yuuko with the long black hair and the red eyes. both have assistants as well.
Although Jigoku Shoujo is the more serious of the two, the same theme is in the show; a person who grants a wish, and a price to be paid.

quirky humour. also good serious plots as well. strange unique atmospheres which is weird and slightly creepy. brilliant watches!
Characters really do look a like! i think that Sebastian from kuroshitsuji is male version of Yuuko from xxxholic. also at first sight i thought that kuroshitsuji was product of Clamp, but i guess i was simply mistaken.
Similar main characters Yuuko-Sebastian Watanauki-Ciel
Supernatural & mystery moments!
Both have a creepy-gothic feel to them and they both have many smaller stories that eventually lead to another
and both of them have master-butler relationships in them ( though the one in xxxHolic isn't nearly as much as in Kuroshitsuji )

They're both about a supernatural shop; one that grands wishes to the customer and one that sells rare animals, but both the shops claim to fulfil the dreams of their customer. In the end both shops are there to teach the customer a wise lesson.
Both have strange "shops" or something like it and strange owners, who help to fulfill one's dream, taking something not usual in return(for example sweets and sake).
Please read the whole thing so you know where I'm coming from for this.
Petshop of Horrors is only 4 eps, as to where xxxHolic is 24. xxxHolic is only similar in the first few eps I suppose, but even so they seem compatible.
Firstly, they have the same atmosphere in which both are horror based. (xxxHolic might be toned down a bit more than Petshop).
Count D and Yuuko are similar to where they can be serious when it comes to their jobs, but other times they can be a completely different person. This mostly happens when they aren't working.
Both Yuuko and Count D own a particular shop and both are quite spiritual.
Where Count D is infatuated with certain sweets, Yuuko has her love for sake or any sort of alcohol.
During the first few episodes of xxxHolic, Yuuko encountered people who asked her for advice, but their lives took a turn for the worst after aquiring objects from her. (Ex: The rings, the monkey hand). Even when she tells them not to do something or asks them about their bad habits, they lie or do what they're not supposed to. This applies with Count D as well. He gives certain animals to people and tells them the do's and don'ts of them. The people always do what they're not supposed to and end up in dispair at the end.
It is a little similar to xxxholic. They both have a shop, not an ordinary shop!

Both anime deals with supernatural and have the same dark mood to it. However, xxxHolic doesn't deals with solving mystery cases but it mainly deals with granting wishes and basically "becareful of what you wished for".
In the world there are things we can't see but are of great importance. Ghosts, curses, dreams, superstitions and many other unexplained but commonly known phenomena.
At a general level people don't really believe in them, but sometimes they need to. So if, you are a part of those unbelievers who are in need to learn more about the other side of the world - the unseen and unknown side, you may be more than interested to do it while watching either Ghost Hunt, or xxxHolic. Both series provide much valuable and interesting information (personally, I leart alot just from watching!)
They are both scary when watched at night. I had goosebumps, especially that episodes of 100 tales of horror and the girl with blue dress, just like whenever i watch cases of ghost hunt where they have to deal with different supernatural events. The feel is so the same. Both are REALLY GREAT!

It is pretty hard to see the connection between both series, but the style is very similar and the characters (Watanuki and Zetsubou sensei) are similar too. If you liked one, you'll sure like the other.
There are very similar to each other, although xxxHolic has a much darker perspective than Sayonara Zetsubuo Sensei, and Sayonara Zetsubuo Sensei has a much funnier comedic perspective?
Weird atmosphere, funny characters, some mystery...

Both have characters that can see supernatural beings. Both are pretty slice of life shows with some comedy and adventure. They are fairly episodic and have some darker moments..
Not only the general feeling if similar, but also the plot. Yet both are different enough to have no déjà vu when watching them.

Mononoke and Xxxholic are kindred souls. Thematically both focus on nefarious spirits and their interaction with inherently human flaws and in terms of style the two anime have a very edgy usage of colour that combined with highly original sets help give a truly surreal ambience. In both cases typically Japanese traditions are recreated artistically and the Asian imagery that permeates them is flawlessly is used as medium of communication to tell the story, as much as the dialogue. Mononoke is stranger and genuinely eerie while Xxxholic is perhaps more conventional but both push the envelope in terms of supernatural horror in anime.
Both are all about spirits, creatures and bad-ass people that deal with those supernatural beings.

Both of these make a certain supernatural/horrific topic in each episode, and Hiro is just like Watanuki being a slave for their mistresses, Hime & Yuuko respectively.
Similar main characters with both being slaves to a powerful woman. Supernatural theme with monsters and spirits.
Both of these shows have a witch, and both of these witches are often referred by Witch of Dimensions (or the likes), are presented by butterflies, talk about granting wishes and receiving payments, and both are voiced by Ohara Sayaka.
Both anime include the witch characters, who explain the events like results of magic, and male characters, who stay against them and try to explain events in their own way. Both have a lot of mystic elements, but "Umineko" has much more cruel and violence scenes.

both animes are about main character(s) that are forced to wor in some shops to pay of their dept alldo zombie loan has better animation... and they have similar genres supernatural, comedi...
In both Zombie-Loan and xxxHOLiC, the main character has the ability to see something that ties them to "another world", so to speak. Watanuki can see spirits while Michiru can see black rings that show if a person is dead our not. Both series have a mix of funny and serious moments.
They both have a different art from each other and the typical anime. They both have individuals helping people out of supernatural situations.
Well, let's see... Mysteries, or the so-called oddities in Bakemonogatari somewhat coincides with the cases that Yuuko solves in xxxHolic. And their way of solving these cases are quite similar too in a way that they derive complicated solutions to get the situarion done.
Both are somewhat disturbing (though be warned Higurashi has A LOT of blood in it)
Both have the common theme of fate
Both have different story lines every couple of episodes

For those of us who are watching Tsubasa Resevior Chronicle due to the appearance of Sakura-chan and many of CLAMPs other characters from works such as X/1999 and Chobits, xxxHolic is going to be something a little different, but as the story progresses, we see the connection between the two storylines. These are two sides of the same story, really, shown from very different points of view that only overlap when necessary, so there is no barrage of repetition. Fans of CCS, old and new, should be able to enjoy this series thoroughly. Though classic characters aren't as prevalent in this series as some would hope, the ideas that CLAMP has always worked with are still very much there. Magic, hope, destiny, and the ability to decide one's own future are all part of what makes this series a great addition to any collection.

Both of the main characters see dead people.
Love the characters in Clamp, then watch the original shows.
Hare and Watanuki are very similar characters as well as Guu/Weda work the same way as Yuuko. Both are funny in their own weird way^__^
Both Watanuki and Tohru are very good at cooking and get famous around the spiritual world:) And both anime take a lot from japanese tradition - in FB the concept of zodiac and in Holic almost all the unnatural things that happen:)
The main characters are both forced to work somewhere and are slowly enjoying it, learning some lessons and enduring embarassing moments:D
Another episodic anime with lots of different stories.
Both of these animes are made by Clamp...they both contain unforgettable characters and wonderful story lines...both of these animes contain drama but X is a lot darker then xxxholic!
They are both animes based off of mangas by CLAMP.
Both series are by Clamp, they both have mysterious, supernatural stories and both have characters with supernatural abilities.

A Supernatural gil who gants wishes, in exchange for someting improtant of equal valu in xxxHolic, and your soul which will be sent to hell after you die in Jigoku Shoujo
both are episodic, brilliant dramas, with lots of action, tension, horror and twists and turn to each unique story. both have excellently thought out characters and their influence on each arc. shigofumi is more violent and psychological, whilst xxxholic is more comedy based, however both are supernatural and have a dark meaningful insight into the ways of humans.
They both include interesting supernatural elements and beings, also there's a lot of fantasy.
