Synopsis

The story focuses and revolves around the 108th Guard Squad, stationed in Aomori. A poorly equipped unit with very little military standing, it is often viewed as a 'reject camp' for pilots not making the grade for the elite units based in Hokkaido. The apparent helpless nature of this force is hardly a deterrent for the encroaching enemy armies, ever closing in on both the 108th and the rest of the empire. The young pilots of the 108th, who had dreamed on returning home, are plunged forcefully and unwillingly into a war.

Story: 5 Don't be fooled by the description, the story changes every 8 episodes, the intro movie should be your first warning the moment you see some genetically engineered animals with people riding on top ... this show at least the prequel (March) focused on mechs and one crew. I was turned off by episode 16. Only the first "story" is of any interest as it sort of a poor group to success kinda story. The animals part was lame especially the ending for that story and by the time it got to boats I gave up. Also the mecha team seems to completely ignore read more

Unfortunately, I have to analyse whole anime, not particular parts about it. Why I'm worried? One can say, there are 3 8-episode stories within 1 anime. Overall it's terrible, only first 8 episodes - first story - are worthwhile.
I must admit, I was really interested in the story, and watching first one from these 3 was a pleasure - nice characters with proper background, likeable and realistic. I won't comment on the other two parts, because I couldn't stand nor characters, nor story, so it won't be really fair, but they just lost their uniqueness. It gets worse and worse, so much that I read more

Notice: This review will cover both season of the franchice. They are so bad, they don’t deserve a second. And if you are not fond of nerdraeg, don’t bother reading it at all. It is basically me describing how BAAAD it is in not so civil means.

Gunparade is one hell of a troll show when it comes to its premise. You see, the premise of the story regards a war between humans and aliens through the use of mechas. One will of course expect to see some sort of Gundam or Macross variant and to his amazement he gets slice-of-life. And indeed, the whole alien read more
