Fortune Arterial's story revolves around the male protagonist Kohei Hasekura, who transfers into a prestigious public school in the style of an English six-year school encompassing junior-high and high school students. The school is on an island named Tamatsu Island off-shore from mainland Japan, and the only way to get there is by boat. Soon after transferring, he discovers that one of the student in the class next door to his, Sendo Erika, is in fact a type of vampire.

Let me start off by saying that I don’t mind clichés. I don’t think it’s fair to judge an anime based off how it compares to others, assuming it is carried out well. There are some anime out there that have little to no objective value. They, in many people’s eyes, are mindless filler-like series; with seemingly no real purpose but to make people complain that the anime industry is loaded with these subpar titles. It’s sad, but sometimes one needs to watch a bad anime to make the good ones seem better. And unfortunately, Fortune Arterial is the epitome of what I read more

There are few trends in anime that are as fallible as the visual novel adaptation, yet they continue to be made in the hope of finding the next Air, Kanon or Clannad. Unfortunately this means that the industry is littered with forgettable titles that have no other purpose than to serve as no brain entertainment for an audience that simply doesn't care anymore.

There is hope though, as every so often a series will appear that defies all expectations. Sadly, Fortune Arterial: Akai Yakusoku (Red Promise) isn't one of them.

Fortune Arterial, an anime adaptation from an adult visual novel of the same name. Just because it's adapted from a visual novel, sparkled my interest already. Shows that were adapted from a VN tend to be good. But was it good? Continue reading and find out. Also, bear in mind that this is my first review. I'm not really good at writing big and long reviews but I tried my best. English isn't my native language so there might be some spelling mistakes. Also, feedback is welcome.

Allright so the beginning is pretty much a standard for a lot of anime shows. High school teenager read more

Before I started watching this, I was expecting harem and nudity in this anime since it was based off its own Japanese adult visual novel game, but I was highly disappointed to see that there were none at all. Also, since I heard that there were vampires in this, I expected tons of action scenes with vampires fighting but there were little to none. For those who wonder what type of anime this is, Fortune Arterial: Akai Yakusoku is a school life, supernatural, romantic comedy type of anime.

The story is pretty generic, a high school teenager transfers to a new school, off a remote read more

Anime: Karin
Both series are about a type of vampire and this girl has a strange feeling when she first met the transfer student..So these series have much in common at the beginning. Both series have the same atmosphere.

Anime: Sola
Calamity of Night [Sola] and Vampire [Fortune Arterial] are both immortals and have supernatural powers. They will meet a human, and then the story starts...

While watching, you will see both anime have the same feel to it, mostly when it comes to the ending. Sola, I feel, has more action while Fortune focus much more on Drama.
