Synopsis

This is a story of an astronaut who is sent to a penal colony planet, and there meets an old woman who shows him the truth of life and love. Originally a short Manga in "The Lion Books," it was made into an animated series. The chief character, Jess, fights to bring down the dictator of the federation of the Earth and other planets, but is arrested by the federal authorities and sent to a penal colony planet. The story focuses on him, using Japanese Noh drama "Kurozuka" as a motif.

I found the short film very interesting, and as somebody else put it in the "Episode 1 Discussion" forum thread for this anime, the story is very similar to that of an episode you would find in the original 1959 American TV series "The Twilight Zone".

The story was pretty good, but I could only really label it as good. It's pretty simple, something that doesn't take the greatest writer to think of, but still plenty good.

I decided not to rate the art or sound, as the only version I could find of this anime was a really awful quality copy on 9anime.to, so I feel ...

Short Review:

Was quite gripping for the first half or so, but then things started to get stupidly predictable. There was some poetry I believe being recited, and I found that intriguing to say the least, which made me feel as if this show was about to go somewhere, spoiler: (it didn't). The character sound effects were poor, but fair enough considering this is old. Same goes to animation. Nothing exciting about any of the characters either.

The story was as I mentioned, extremely predictable for the most part, and the concept most likely to all of us is not something new at all. Hence, this probably ...
