Sekaiichi Hatsukoi OVA

From the creator of Junjou Romantica comes a new yaoi anime! Yes, if you plan on watching this, it is important to know that it is Yaoi, in other words, Boy X Boy relationship (in case you are not aware).

This series as of now hasn't been put on every anime website or become popular, so it isn't very easy to find, but i'm sure it will be more well known once the TV series of it begins.

Story: 7
The only reason I gave it lower than a 9 or so is because I felt like it was quite similar to Shungiku Nakamura's series Junjou Romantica and therefore wasn't anything new / original. But of course I love JR so much, so seeing something similar to it was still fun!
It was only a one episode OVA. The show of Sekaiichi Hatukoi hasn't come out yet.
As mentioned before, this is a Yaoi. It isn't a hard-core, guy-on-guy yaoi. But it's definitely more than just BL. So if you don't like, don't watch. That's the only advice I can give.
If you are looking for a cute and somewhat cheesey yaoi that doesn't really show anything (in other words, they don't show any sex) then this is definitely a good one to choose.

Art: 7
The art in this was decent, nothing spectacular but detailed and colourful enough to keep my eyes glued to the screen. The scenery in the background seemed to have much more effort put into it than the actual characters.
The characters were well drawn, but again, it seemed almost exactly like Nakamura's characters in Junjou Romantica.

Sound: 8
The voice acting was really good! Kondo Takashi and Konishi Katsuyuki are very talented voice actors that I love! Both of them do an amazing job keeping Ritsu and Masamune in character.

Character: 6
The character's in this show were easy to love and fun to watch! But the reason I gave this a 6 is because nothing about it stood out a whole lot to me. Most of what they did or how they acted was fairly predictable. I love it when the characters surprise me in some way, and this didn't exactly do that for me.

Enjoyment: 8
Even though I gave the story a 7 and the character a 6, I really enjoyed watching Sekaiichi Hatsukoi.
I am a fan of Yaoi (and not embaressed to say it), but I like it when yaoi has an interesting story rather than just random sex scenes with no plot whatsoever. Shungiku Nakamura knows how to balance the yaoi and the story evenly to make it fun, hilarious and exciting for the watchers!

I am looking forward to the actual TV show Sekaiichi Hatsukoi. This OVA grabbed my attention and left me wanting to see more!

THIS SHOULD NOT BE COUNTED AS AN EPISODE ZERO! Okay, that was my warning. This isn't exactly a review, but I wanted to tell people who plan to watch the parent series not to count this as an episode zero. Yeah, the first 3/4 of SH:... no baai can definitely be seen as a prequel to Sekaiichi Hatsukoi. I could see how you could see the whole episode as a spoiler, but it isn't major in the first part. However, the last fourth contains serious spoilers for the first two episodes (the only two that have come out as of the moment I'm writing this.)

You'd have to be really dense not to figure out said spoilers, truthfully. Spoilers really suck even if they aren't actually spoiling anything though. I suggest watching this episode zero after the first two episodes. You won't be confused and it won't ruin the beginning of the parent series.
