SynopsisAnimated Flash shorts based on the light novel series "Haiyore! Nyaruko-san." In these shorts, Nyarlko, an anthropomorphized female version of Nyarlathotep from the Cthulhu Mythos, is constantly being told off by Mahiro, a normal human boy, for all the crazy or stupid things she does.
In one of the shorts, Nyarlko is drawing a cover design for a body pillow. It turns out that the pillow's subject is a half-dressed Mahiro in what appears to be a hot and heavy scene with Nyarlko. Naturally, Mahiro proceeds to stab Nyarlko in the hand with a fork and threatens to kill her if she releases the pillow design.
Other shorts revolve around various gags and occasionally feature Cthuko, an anthropomorphized female version of Cthugha, who's madly in love with Nyarlko. |

Haiyoru! Nyraru-ani is the heartwarming story of the loli personification of Nyarlathotep (Nyarlko) who is a by-the-books otaku wish fulfillment nerdy chick, who is in love with a normal guy called Mahiro who can only keep this non-tentacled horror under control with a hastily brought down fork slammed right throough her hand. Also; later in the series, we meet Cthuhko, who is the Japanese loli imagining of Cthulhu. And rather than looking like an octupus god like figure from the sunken sity of Rl'yeh, she is actually a kuudere girl who wants to feast upon Nyarlko's carpet.
So, that is basically the story and the character section rolled into one. I won't tell you what I think of what I just wrote, because due to whether or not you are a Cthulhu mythos fan or not this could sound like the worst/best thing ever written by mankind.
The next thing to talk about is the art, which is as far as anime art goes is quite bland and ugly, and the animation is rather low quality. However, I can be a bit more forgiving here due to the fact this was made with Flash, a program in which I can barely get a stick figure to move it's legs.
The sound was decent. The few VAs there were had done somewhat well known characters (Yuno from Hidamari Sketch, Harumi from SZS) and the ending theme after each and every segment was nice, whilst somewhat annoying if you are watching the whole thing from back to front.
I enjoyed myself quite a bit, in no short thanks due to the constant stream of Lovecraftian/Anime and Manga references they popped in at opportune spots. And whilst I realize this was nothing but an advertisement for a novel I will never see translated in my life time (and screw learning Japanese, Spanish is hard enough) I can say that it certainly amused me for its short run time.
All in all, I recommend this series if you are a Lovecraft fan. Partly because you may find the show's humour enjoyable, and partly because I might derive morbid entertainment from your screams of terror as you list down everything that this anime just raped about your beloved Mythos. Non-Lovecraft readers might enjoy it as well, just don't expect to know what the hell is going on half the time. I rate it 7 grave rolls out of 10. read more

once again, an anime (soon to be probably) but right now, light novels (the only way for clueless japs with no talent in drawing to get their horrible always as mediocre stories published) with a case of lacking a plot, what-so-ever...
this is just another one of them anime solely rellying on the idea (which is ALWAYS just stupidly unoriginal and sugarcoated with an illusion that it's new and clever) the whole idea here is just another one of them cases where there's just a little girl or two who just happens to be historical monsters or something in that area... in this case it's the Cthulhu Mythos, but for the love of god, this is a disgrace, it's just two girls with the same worn out personalities walking around saying "hey look, I'm that big scary monster from that early 1900 science fiction novel but I look just like a little girl, aint that swell?"
even though it's "comedy", the whole idea is really tedious and worn out, a story that rely on only the worn out characters, and the whole idea has a sail set to fail. I'll say it again, it lacks plot and only someone who's obsessed with tiny anime girls and really cheesy / retarded modern japanese sub-culture sense of humour would enjoy this big decline
this was more like the review of the light novels itself instead of the anime, just hoping this thing would never get an actual anime made in something else that flash... I repeat, this is not funny, it's just another one of the reasons why nerds complain that anime is declining... and again, an anime shouldn't have to make do with just the idea & characters (well, it can, but not in this case), it needs plot, and don't you think (meeeeh, it's ok, it's a comedy after all, which means it can get by without plot) because this thing isn't even close being comedy, best case it's just blasphemy read more

Both are otaku comedies based upon light novels. Very similar style of humor.

Supernatural flavored lovey-dovey-bishoujo-fanfare anime. Sci-fi element is weak and less worthy of mentioning than average Star Trek.
Anime with hot chick, slight of life, comedy and mild sex sell. With some extraterrestrial topping. Possibly mark the era that the almighty Love Hina should stop taking place in realistic setting.
