The first season of “Darker Than Black” left the exact fate of two of its central cast in an ambiguous state. This four part OVA continues the story past the first season finale while serving as the transition into the new direction second two would take in Ryuusei no Gemini. This OVA combines the strength of both season into a nice package telling a compelling story, interesting leading characters, and great action scenes.

Good: Fills the gap between seasons 1 & 2

This four part OVA can be summarized as a “couple on the run” sort of story. Hei and Yin are trying to survive daily life read more

I'll keep this short: Anyone who is a fan of Darker than Black NEEDS to find a way to watch these 4 episodes; they are crucial to understanding so many things about the series, including several things that didn't make sense in season 2, the relationship between Hei and Yin, and Hei's character development.

The OVA bridges the gap between seasons 1 and 2, explaining what happened to Hei and Yin during that time, and not only is this information vital to the plot, it is incredibly entertaining. This OVA is 4 episodes of pure awesome, as we finally read more

This is the bridge between Kuro no Keiyakusha (Season 1) and Ryuusei no Gemini (Season 2). For those who watched both seasons THIS IS A MUST! In these 4 episodes they will explain the holes in Ryuusei no Gemini.

(Will update as season ends)

Story: 9/10

These 4 episodes explains about the gap in the 2 years between season 1 and season 2. Like before of DtB, the story is well executed and polished. It is based on the character development between Hei and Yin. Also answers many of the questions that were brought in season 2.

Art: 9/10

Amazing, I would say it is better read more

With just one episode aired I believe we all more or less know what it's going to be about. So let me explain this a bit to those who haven't got their hands on the first episode yet.

Story : The story clearly takes place between 1st and 2nd season. As written above, it's main purpose is to shorten the gap between 1st and 2nd season.
If you've finished just 1st season, this is just like watching another episode of it. If you've seen 2nd season too, it's pretty much a flashback, but a very critically needed one. I myself was pulled in the story read more

Anime: Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Tsuiokuhen
Both have very similar storylines .The protagonists are escaping from an establishment .Builds a base for the series to progress .High on action and emotions.

Anime: Ga-Rei: Zero
At first, both these animes have a similar drama component: in order to do their duty main characters have to kill their loved ones, however in Ga-Rei Zero drama is payed more atention to and is more deep than in DTB. Both these series deal with organisations exterminating threats to the mankind (ghosts in GRZ case and contractors in DTB case). Sure thing there are mystical powers and supernatural abilities included. Also, you will feel painfully sorry for main characters whichever you watch.
In case you watched DTB only because of action and fights, it's unlikely you will like GRZ. There is action  read more
