This recomendation is made specifically for those looking for any and every Anime dealing with time travel. I prefer Seikimatsu, but each series has its own charm and own take on the whole matter. One is also more supernatural then the other, where as the one that is less simply deals with time travel. The characters I think are the best part of poth, as they have characters who are quite gripping.
Both of them has to do with time travel.Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin have failed to meet my expectations while Steins;Gate suceeded in meeting my expectations.
Both series revolve round a guy who has to time travel and ends up saving the world. While the lead male in SOA is a bit of a whimp, the male lead in Steins gate is a real freak who deliberately calls himself a mad scientist and tries to act according to fit the image of it. Though the male leads differ from eachother, they are both strongly connected to the female main character wich are both a bit of the tsundere types.
SOG has a lot more supernatural in it, while Steins gate is scifi. Both series have a lot of comedy, though Steins gate turns a whole lot more serious and dark half through. I absolutely enjoyed both series and think others will too.
Partly recommending for time travel but also because there's some funny dialogue going on between the strange cast of characters.

both full of random and supernatural events
Both contain espers, time travelers, and all things occult. Lead characters have a history of "not [being] interested in ordinary people".
Supernatural events and fantasy are a theme in both of these series. Additionally, both anime(s) deals with "aliens", espers, and time travelers. There is also emotion and comedy throughout the series as episodes progresses.

Dark, Gothic and supernatural... the characters are interesting and they are trying to solve the phenomena that occur in their world and try to stop them.
The supernatural genres are similar. If your into occult, ghosts, monsters, and demons; then these two anime are for you.
Both series involve chasing after something paranormal. Be it ghosts or an object. Ghost is divided by arcs while Occult Academy is one whole story. If you like the "thrill of the hunt" Ghost Hunt might be the choice for you.

Both have next to no plot development until the last two episodes, and both also are only held together by an incredibly epic fatty that serves as comic relief.
Both kick start with zombie disaster occuring within a school.
In Highschool of the Dead's case, the school is actually infested with zombies, a theme this series stays loyal to, yet within Occult academy, spirits take on a zombie-esque role, mindelessly attacking anybody and everybody, possessing dead bodies in one case, infecting thoses attacked, yet occult acedemy is open to all sorts of supernatural events occuring.
Both schools need bringing down, as they litterally harbour nothing but trouble!
Perhaps I should highlight, though this is my opinion, that both feature exceptionally annoying heroeins, from the selfish, somewhat dopey Rei within HOTD, to the know-it-all superiour Maya within Occult

The schools are huge and mazes, not to mention the contain a supernatural secret and a mystery needs to be solved. They also have detailed styles.
Black haired tsundere and nice guy solving occult mystery

After seeing 5 minutes of Gosick i was reminded of Occult academy. If you like Occult ( ghost stories, and such) you should like both of them. Both take place in school too.
Both are stories about mystery and strange things, both take place in a big Academy.
Maya and Bunmei are also similar to Victorique and Kujou (The girl is higher than the boy)

Similar to this anime, the male lead is a wuss while the female lead is a tsundere and knows how to deal with spirits.
Similarities:
Both has male characters who were wussies at first. And I'm pertaining to Uchida "Bummie" Fumiaki and Agemaki Kei.
Both had female characters ( Maya Kumashiro and Zakuro) who despises their male character at first but only to gain their respect later on. Both of them are tsunderes as well.
Both female characters are brave in the face of evil.
both female characters get to kick the butts of their male characters
Both anime deals with the supernatural.
Dissimilarities
One anime is set in the early 20th century while the other is set towards the new millennium.
One female character is herself a half spirit and half human, while the other is a full human.
One look good in a yukata while the other has a bad sense of fashion (except in a school uniform).
However, Zakuro doesn't seem to look good naked, while Maya is way hot in the nude (even with the towel on).
One female character has her own supernatural powers to fight evil, while the other rely on her associates, charms (her father's notebook), weapons (crossbow) and her bodyguards that she doesn't know she has, for help.
One didn't develop any feelings towards her male character until the last 3 episodes of the anime, while the other one already has feelings for her male character, though she would display some hostilities towards him.

Linked by Occult and Funny
Kaidan restaurant typically would have 3 short occult stories per episode:
The 2 main dishes vary in style and are often quite funny and a little bit scary.
The last dessert is often more scary. Though kids oriented, the stories remain interesting for occult fans.
Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin is more `gaggy` with better animation and plot.
It has a lot of ideas in one main story: black magic, time traveling, supernatural power, aliens. Stuff happening in 1999 will be affecting human's future in 2012.
I would approximate the ratio of entertainment to be 3:7

These animes are nothing alike in terms of storyline, but in terms of main characters relationship, these two are very similar. Loser and Tsundere (not as much as a tsundere in Occult Academy but close), heading towards the same goal. If you like a slapstick relationship between hero and heroine you should like these two.

If you watched durarara and thought "man i like urban legends" here is a lot of them in occult gakuin, also full of humor and cool characters.

Both are dealing with the occult, but difference is quite large too.
Shiki deals with vampires/zombies hybrid? and is more of mystery, psychological.
Occult Academy has some comedy, deals with a general mix of occult like spirits, witchery etc. and has a feeling of adventurous spirit and time-travel. A teeny little bit of romance too.
Both are in Summer 2010 anime season.

The way both main guys meet the main girl is similar - if you know what i mean, and if you don't, i mean they are naked. :D They also have a special phone (but different kinds) and they try to change the world. But everything else seems different, which is a good thing.

Both are about paranormal activity in Japan.
|
|
|
The both are about occult. Since there is a few animes about occult science, demon/creature summoning and etc., it's a significant similiarity. Moreover, the sense of humour in "Yondemasuyo Azazel-san" and adventures & mysteries in "Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin" are the bonus features.

|
|
Both are supernatural shows with events that are out of this world.
|
|
|
The animation style and general feel of the series seems similar. Both plots put a paranormal conspiracy story right in the middle of a tight knit community of unusual characters and tell the story using quirky humor with a mysterious overtone.
|
|
|
The plot lines involve fighting off demons bent on bringing destruction to man kind. The anime also take into consideration actual legends about various monsters from around the world to make the stories work.
|
|
|
The setting is not all that off-beat or uber cool in Occult Gakuin, but it's still far from being mainstream. Who the hell build complete education facility devoted wholly to creepy occult stuff anyway. [spoiler] Hopefully not your father because he will die when you visit his school the first time.
Gankutsuou setting, if you look closely, is just a realistic Victoria era and no matter how you look at it it's just Victorian. But when you look at it done by certain art direction with certain sci-fi stuffs keep popping, oh snap this thing is creepy too.

both have a similar surrealistic style (especially the zombie designs and Opening Animation) and setting, fighting against monsters, mixing of comedy and seriousness, very good animation etc.
|
|
|
Preventing the end of the world, and some other similarities I will not spoil you for.

Gothic girls with interest in the occult. I am sure that the female lead in 'Yamato Nadeshio Shinci Henge' would adore going to the school in 'Seikmatsu Occult Gakuin'. Not only that, there are a few people who aren't shiny, sparkly and scary. Both girls can so kick butt! :)

These two anime are simular in the fact that they deal with the supernatural and spin an intriging plot that you don't necisarily easily surmise. Both have vibrant, crisp animation, not to mention detailed designs. The characters also build on you.

|
• Similar main character
• Supernatural beeings
• Comedy
|
|
|
Both involve some sort of dark conspiracy involving death and mayhem taking place at a high school. Also, they're both relatively bad shows that if you should watch, it should be for reasons other than good writing.

This recomendation is made for the Anime viewers who are looking for any Anime that contains "time travel" and "supernatural".

The stories revolve around very different themes, yet the female-male leading duets are awfully similiar - dominant girl and wimpy boy characters.
