Basilisk: Kouga Ninpou Chou

Either Basilisk was influenced by Ninja Scroll or the had the same source material, because a few of the techniques can be found in both, as well as some names. Of course that means whichever one you see second will seem unoriginal, so space it out. They're both very good. 

Similar in depth and action, it's more emotional although not as realistic. 

Gonzo used to have something of a Romeo & Juliet fetish, as well as being one of few studios to have the balls to adapt material not destined to be adored by otaku. And this resulted in two very different anime, linked only by their usage of R&J tragedy as a main theme. Basilisk is best described as the Japanese period piece, ninja warfare equivalent of R&J. Meanwhile, Romeo x Juliet is a re-imagining of Shakespeare's work... complete with flying horses and other fantasy elements sure to irk purists. The names are the same and core theme, but little else. The series themselves do differ considerably, with Basilisk being a Battle Royale style bloodbath and RxJ being more of a tragic/romantic adventure. Both have death-crazy samurai and loads of blood. 

ZOMG~ This doesn't compare to your AVERAGE ninja anime series. I do admit that both series are too short but both has your very true ninja styles, fight scenes, gore, violence, blood and of course good characters and storyline. 

the same ninjia style combat with each ninjia having his her own style but alot more less mature and fun, more comedy and silly moments, but be aware, its a very very long series which is still going 

where one is samuri and the other is ninjia, both have a similar feel to it. Basilisk is more mature but same touching story of warriors fighting for what they believe for in the end. Rurouni Kenshin is longer and older then basilisk but same intense action and unpredictable story plot that will keep you on edge. Each foe is different and each again his their own special combat ability which are a blast to watch. Not much fanasty involved i.e energy balls or summoned creatures and will suit a mature audience... have a go 

If after watching Fate/Zero you were left wanting more in the way of 'Battle Royale' believable brutality and less in the way of circle-walky talking, then Basilisk is the anime for you! Instead of Zero's premise of seven masters with seven revived heroes of lore (complete with 'middle-man' pace slowing rules overload) battling it out until only one pairing remains, in Basilisk ninja with superpowers (two sides, with ten on each side) every bit as powerful as those wielded by servants, quite simply, fight a desperate battle to the death; dying in quick succession. You can not get much more intense! In contrast, no-one really died at all in Zero until the last half, and even then it had an open-end for the visual novel 'sequel'. read more 

Immorta warriors, bloody battles and revenge! l 

Both anime is made by Gonzo. Aired the same year, and in the same season. In the Basilisk and Speed Grapher there is a unique action scenes and mild nudity. I recommend adult fans. These animes are seinen. There are no bishi, but there are very beautiful women. Great characters and a great story.

Romeo and Juliet theme: impossible love between people from different "clan/families/races". 

Both anime are about rival ninja clans fighting each other in some epic battles full of violence, persecutions, traps and superpowers. 

Both are blood-soaked action series with a varied cast of characters who can (and do) die at any time, and while other series of its type drag their feet with poor pacing and filler, both Basilisk and AgK tell a complete, fast-moving story in precisely 24 episodes.  

It takes place in the same era and also have fighters using ninpou. 

Same samurai and ninja stuff but Basilisk got more story than Afro Samurai which is pure action 

A blood filled journey towards uncertain end. 

Both Basilisk and Berserk have a dark, violent, emotional and tragic scent about them. They are both dark and mysterious. The stories on the other hand, are not much alike. Basilisk is focusing on the rivalry between two ninja tribes and Berserk follows the life of Guts, the Dark Swordsmen. But none the less, I am sure that if you like the one, you will like the other due the feeling they both emit. 

The same clans fight each other, but the setting is in the past. 

Both are ninja theme, with the same competition between clans. 

These both give the same vibes. They both have ninja like characters and were at peace for a long time until someone ruins the peace. 

Historical, Samurai 

-historical -war/conflict -violent  

Both series feature a diverse cast of weirdos killing each other in bizarre and entertaining ways. Neither shies away from graphic violence or sexual content. Both make en effort to develop characters, even characters that don't have much of an impact on the overall plot. The tone of the two shows is also similar in that they are dark without being too heavy or slowly paced. They are a cool spectacle that you don't have to think too hard about, and are a good watch for anybody who just wants to watch some odd people kick lots of ass.  

Both series have a male MC who has eye powers that are very destructive, and both feature large amounts of action. 

Both Basilisk and X have two waring factions with supernatural abilities, they also don't have your typical moral "good" and "bad" sides. Both animes also have a somewhat bleak atmosphere to them, and contain a similar group combat progression (deliberated phrased strangely to avoid spoilers). Both these animes also leave a bit to be desired from their leading characters, but have relatively solid supporting characters. However these two animes are set in different time periods, and also have a different feel to them. 

Similarities: - Historical - Romance - War - Same setting 

Both are about groups chosen to fight, about people much stronger than any other in the world. Climate and plot are completely different but both deserve for distinction. 

These series both have a simple plot line and include battles within midevil worlds without too much exageration with the exception of abilities. The slow fighting styles are also similar.  

After watching both series, there's definitely some similarities between these series not just on historical terms but also the fact that both series contains +the theme of clan rivalry +a darker story as episodes progresses +forbidden love +betrayals +supernatural elements +an adventure like feeling as the main characters are in a form of journey +in depth drama with emotions added in  

Many similarities, from the first sight when I saw this I remembered all kinds of "Basilisk" There are two parties: Action - historical - Samurai  

they are similar somehow same Era and there is alot of Violence 

both are tournament-based bloody battles to death beroes with different power and tricks  

Both are about war between clans. While in Basilisk they´re ninjas, in Hakuouki they´re samurai. Both deal with tragedy. Both are also about a forbidden love.  

tense waiting to see just what special skill every sword has ( Bleach) and which special skill every ninja has (basilisk).Of course bleach is more full of action but it seems to me that basilisk is more artistic. 

Both are love stories with a sad atmosphere. Unfaithful love. Probably sad ending too. The protagonist cannot be together due to some circumstances. 

I finished Samurai 7 and I was seriously upset. It kind of reminded me of Basilisk. I mean I don't want to spoil it for anyone else but the end was so...upsetting. Some of my favorite characters died even though I already suspected they would but come on. I had bought the Samurai 7 box set for my brother (christmas gift). I ended up taking them home to watch them myself (am I a loving sister taking my bros gift before he had a chance to watch them? I know you don't have to say it). Once I finished them he watched them and his reaction was priceless. He said, "I hate this f******g anime! Why did you get if for me? You should have bought me something else." I was kinda expecting this because my youngest brother said (almost) the exact same thing. But all in all I enjoyed it. Whats a little tragedy right? If you haven't seen them I suggest you give them both a try. As for Basilisk I pretty much had the same reaction. My brother owns them both I however do not T_T. They are both amazing anime's and if you haven't seen them I highly recommend them.  read more 

Both have - Historical setting - Characters with super powers - Needless fighting - Lots of action - Warring clans 

Animes have very similar vibe: - Historical theme - Bloody fights - Ninjas and samurais - Supernatural powers - Overall setting and grim atmosphere 

If you were a fan of Basilisk, and feel like you want a new Anime experience, try out Claymore! Both series are short, and include a higher degree of violence/gore than some other action based Anime such as Naruto. One key difference is that Claymore has a Manga adaptation longer than the Anime series. 

Though Basilisk is about ninjas, and Hakuouki is about samurais, the two animes have similarities and the same feeling while watching.  

Both series are short and sweet, include a slightly more mature mind-set than many other anime, and include a nice display of fight scenes. 

In both of the series there is a lot of fighting, the storyline is wellfully thought out and the drawing is beautiful. Utawarerumono is a series which can't really be compared to another serie, but in my eyes it is really a MUST SEE 

This two are similar because both: 1. are bloody 2. have may cute girls 3. great fights 4. and some spoilers are similar too But there are also many differences I prefer Basilisk, but both are great :D 

Even though Basilisk isn't a hentai, it does contain nudity, and the stories both involve ninja clans. Basilisk also has a certain amount of nudity and sex scenes, however not nearly as graphic and frequent as in Shadow. 

Both animes are about ninja with a solid plot and good fights with each ninja having a power of some sort
