In the sequel, Hei and Yin are now on the run after betraying the Syndicate in the previous season. After leaving Japan, Hei encounters Suou Pavlichenko, a 13-year-old Eurasian girl who becomes embroiled in the war and politics of the various factions and Contractors vying for power. Meanwhile, Hell's Gate remains standing in Tokyo, after Hei's efforts to stop the Saturn Ring anti-Gate particle weapon from activating. Although Contractors are safe from the danger of having their existences erased, this does not prevent new and old Contractors from abusing their powers. As Misaki Kirihara and her team in the Public Security Bureau deal with the increasing Contractor cases, she also has to keep the Syndicate at bay, who has major positions in the Japanese police and intelligence bureaus around the world. The storyline setting primarily takes place in both Japan and Russia.

I have a hard time wrapping my head around what the script writers of this show was thinking. They had a pool of almost infinite ideas to work around from the origin and reasoning behind the Hell's Gate manifestation or even exploring the Contractors and Dolls as the bridged gap to human evolution. It seems with so many mysterious themes left in a shroud of ambiguity, the writers could of taken any route they desired and make a decent sequel. But for some reason that's beyond comprehension, instead of trying to provide a solid answer to it's mysteries or even using it to flesh out read more

Many people do the mistake watching this season, wishing it'd be a simple rehash of or the final closure to season 1. Here I try my best I can to review this series as its own. Besides that, I genuinely enjoyed DTB s2 just like I appreciated the first season.

Our main protagonist Suou, the red-hair pigtail girl on the cover, is a kind and vulnerable girl who cares a lot for her family. In the first few minutes we get to know her everyday school-life, which drastically changes after an encounter with Contractors /people with special abilities.
From here on everything changes read more

Somehow the high expectations I had awaiting the sequel to a fantastic series were not fulfilled. Ryuusei No Gemini isn’t exactly a sequel to Kuro no Keiyakusha, but more like a separate arc in itself. It would be unfair to compare both of them as they vary in their style and storyline. For starters, the series are not bi-episodic; instead revolve around a single storyline involving a Eurasian female protagonist. Hei’s involvement through the series although significant, has not really been up to what it ought to be.

Storyline: 7/10

Before you read this one, I would let you know that I am just a newbie when it comes to anime and I am not totally good when it comes to anime terms and words. Also I am not a good reviewer like the others in here. But, still I like to write a review for this and I will deliver it in a simple way based on my own opinions.

Whats new in this series? A lot of changes. Yes a lot of changes, that would includes the characters, appearances, mood, settings and the story itself.
What word might really fit in this series is the read more

Anime: Speed Grapher
Both series are about humans who have supernatural powers. In Darker than Black there are Contractors who have these powers and in Speed Grapher there are Euphorias who have these superhuman powers. The stories of these anime are good and related to the modern world. There are also girls who the main guy wants to help and protect.

Anime: Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom
Both mains are assassins from an organization and end up being betrayed and whatsover.

Anime: Shoujo Kakumei Utena
They have weapons/firearms coming out of character's TITS that represent some sort of phallic imagery. The only difference is while both of them have under-aged heroines who are still supposed to be in middle school one looks like a loli and the other looks like a young woman in their highschool/college years for some inexplicable reason.

Anime: Wolf's Rain
Very similiar depressing/dark atmosphere in both of the series. In DTB there are contractors who are the outcasts, while in Wolf's Rain it's wolves.

And they share a common studio, Bones, so the art is very similiar.

Anime: Monster
Both anime consists of a sister with an evil brother. The sister regains her memories gradually, while the brother waits for her in the end. It consists of gun play action, and the sister tries to defeat her brother.

Anime: Tokyo Ghoul
Both anime have a similar dark genre with intense and clever fighting scenes. Both feature a main character who has been thrust into a world/ has become, a being which they weren't before, and has to overcome the difficulties which come with it (either being a contractor or a ghoul). Main characters also have to learn from gifted friends of the same species, and both feature great character development as they must figure out how to behave in their new world and interact with the 'normal' people around them. In my opinion, both anime are also ranked very highly on my list. I am also  read more
