Recommendations

These two shows definitely have their differences, but they also have their similarities. Both shows are short 90s OVAs and both are centered around high schoolers beating up tough guys. They also both have their fair share of silly moments as well as very serious, sometimes very tense, moments. I recommend checking out at least an episode of each and if you like them, check out the manga as well.

Similar anachronistic club/school where honor is everything and first half. Karate Bu's just edgier.

Badass turf wars the japanese way, Osu!! karate bu is more orientated at schoolgangs than Don: Gokudou suikoden , but both have the groupgang fighting and territorial disputes, Don is more mature and serious and both show some extreme violence the way u don;t see it anymore

Both have the martial arts content WITHOUT too much supernatural powers, osu!! Karate Bu is more comedy orientated than VF, but the way of fighting in both can be somewhat brutal. For many fans Osu! Karate Bu is some sort of an unknown marial arts gem which had good potential to please fighting anime fans.

Cromartie High School is a parody of Osu!! Karate Bu, I can't believe no one made this recommendation before.
